Okay, so earlier this evening my corp went on a losec roam with eight pilots, myself included. After about an hour and a half of faffing about in belts trying to find people, out scout started smacking is local in some system, prompting the local horde of BC's to come out and murder our two faction frigates, cruiser, HAC and hictor, with us only inflicting minor damage on a rapier. And yet we had the time of our lives.
Aren't we only supposed to feel good when we win? Or are we all just crazy masochists?

Hey, Python went on a roam in industrials and expected them to all be murdered... we got 4 kills (2 BCs then 2 T2 cruisers) before they took out one of our mining frigs

Nope. You're supposed to feel "better" when you win. You can still feel good if you lose. _

Some people play eve to make isk. Others to pad their killboard. Many people seem to lose sight of the real reason to play and it's to have fun. Many corps I have been in lose sight of that so when I started my own I do my best to make it a fun experience for me and my corpies. Good to see you have buddies you can do the same with.
THAT is the point of the game!
Now you know you enjoy teh pew pew learn by practice and enjoy the journey.

It means you had fun with it, and that goes beyond the simple winning or losing. Having a good fight is worth more then the fact you win or loose. You might have been murdered outright by overwhelming odds, but you had the balls to go out there and annoy the residents!
I remember during the Sansha Live events(before the incursions) we had catched word of a future Sansha attack on a lowsec system, wich prompted us to gather a large anti sansha fleet to fight the sansha loyalists. We promptly got hotdropped by a cap/supercap blob and got outright slaughtered. Yet almost anyone in the anti-sansha fleet had the time of their lives, enjoying a massive fleetbattle that you usally only hear about on the Scope news. We lost almost the entire fleet, but damn had a blast with it! So you see, you're not alone :) You can enjoy good fights, even if you loose them!

It's fun to go out and PvP, even vs overwhelming odds, and even losing can be a blast. Going out and what you did is one of the best ways to actually learn how to PvP, even if you do get your butt handed to you a lot. It teaches you to try something different next time, until eventually, you get good at it. You should ALWAYS expect to lose a few ships when you're starting out.
I think the most important lesson in this is the fact you got your guys together, did something like this as a group, and had fun doing it.

It's the main thing I like about Eve. There is no set way to have fun.
Do whatever you want to do, at whatever pace you feel like at the time. Sure, it may not be optimal for ISK/whatever, but who's counting?
Had words with boss? Log on the Gank or PvP character and go to town. Feeling lazy? log on the miner character and chill out.

The loss that sucks hard:
You pvp in low/null so you put your mining alt at the belt and AFK epeen.
You come back and..****, mining stuff ganked by another "bots" paranoid...this sucks, but it's the game, and revenge is such a hot *****
