Yeah ati began the suckage road after AMD bought it. Man I miss the real ATI. They were true pioneers with OpenGL support back in the day. I miss them so badly :(. --- Viva VENEZUELA!!! Archipelago Theory

Yeah, finally upgraded from the 10.4 I installed when I bought my card, because of the annoyingly random dimming and undimming of the 2nd monitor.
What an awesome ride. Mainly because of the gorram .net 3.5 install bonanza. 10.4 worked fine with net2.0. The newest need 3.5.
Oh yeah and after a clean uninstall of the old ones ONLY the supposedly english driver version worked. So that was fun too, though now it seems to work. Kinda. Deactivation of the 2nd screen usually works, sometimes though it¦s miraculously on cloned after a bootup. Super. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time. Apparently AMD a few months back opened up mucho positions for CS people in the driver department.
So here's to hoping. Because some of this **** is ridiculous. I'm not an AMD/ati or nvidia fanboy I buy whats best for the price...but the drivers are really making me not want to get another one of their cards down the line.

I will stick to NVIDIA graphics cards as their CUDA api is supported by a video conversion application I use. It is three times faster with CUDA support. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. ~Saint |

I can only agree. Which is a shame because WHEN it works it works beautifully...
My partner uses an ATI and i upgraded the driver for her a couple months back. All was fine and i left her to the machine, she loaded up Eve and i heard a scream - the new driver had real trouble with 3D apps it seemed and the login screen was just a mess. After a short beating i put the old driver back.
Dont matter anyway - we set our systems the same and hers cruises at 60 frames when mine dips in and out at 20-25fps hehe Shes a happy bunny and often shows me the lovelyness of her Eve compared to mine lol.
Dont know if anyone remembers the pre GPU days but ATI kinda got a rep back then as well for drivers that would suddenly act like they wernt installed at all, even after weeks of working fine.

Oh hell yeah! Looks like the "good old times" are back again.
I even ordered a NForce motherboard for my new AMD Phenom rig instead of going for an AMD board. Can¦t wait for Nvidia bringing out the next midrange DirectX 11 card that will not gobble up 1000 watts of juice. ______________ Mal-¦Appears we got here just in a nick of time. Had problems getting rid of the ATI drivers on my laptop so I could install some custom ones and eventually mucked everything up. DriverCleaner was the best $10 I ever spent :P

Edited by: ceaon on 25/05/2011 13:19:48 ok i got the solution to this :) this happen sometimes for dual monitos because of clocks jumps from a very low value 1 boot the pc on safemode 2 go to c user app data local ati profiles.xml (i did make a profile for this) 3 search for CoreClockTarget for me was the line 705 you wil see that want 0 is set to low 14700 i did double that but still got the problem so i went to 55000 that means my gpu even if is idle the clock will run at 550 mhz and eat some power play around whit the want 0 and want 1 values until you get rid of the flicker thing and get a lower clock frequency so when the card is idle dont eat allot
my values
