Hey all,
I am looking for a Nightmare fit for running missions.
I would like to keep the fit to T2 mods as much as I can.
I have looked on battle clinic but to be honest I have never really rated anything from there.
Found a few fits from searching the forum but most of them are quite old.
Many Thanks
Regards
Prince

you could try something like that. the rigs and the one cap recharger help keep your guns and your hardeners cap stable without the shield booster going. the cap booster is there to just feed the shield booster when you need it. This fit was intended for serpentis so you can change the hardeners out based on the rats. You could replace a mod or two based on your preference.
p.s. for an awesome faction ship like this, i would probably at least get some faction heat sinks or maybe a faction shield booster or faction boost amp instead?

cheers for the fit.
About the faction mods, I agree, I just don't want to over gimped it so I become this great big shiny target :)

I would consider adding Nosses to the highs. Might be enough for you to drop the cap-charges, or at least make them last for a while before needing more.

I use a very similar fit to Kara's, only with a third hardener and flux coil instead of the tracking mods. I've been very happy with it. The ship definitely benefits from some faction love, but a T2 fit like this can be absolutely deadly as well, without being a massive gank target.

Recent thread on the same topic.
You can run a NM either on capacitor recharge or capacitor boosting. Both work, though I favor cap boosting 9 times out of 10. ---

Use 3 hardeners and no boost amp for a superior tank. Look at the typical ratio of damage types from your given opponent, and fit hardeners appropriately. Check EFT for comfirmation if you need it.

Edited by: Panhead4411 on 24/05/2011 01:44:56 I recently, about 2-3 months ago, got into my Mare...and i'll never go back.
Personally i find it better than for missions against all but Angel, then a nice Mael does better. But i digress.
---Low--- Heat Sink II x4 DC2 x1 ---Med--- X-Large C5-L Shield Boost Amp Active Hardener II x3 Tracking Comp II x2 (loaded for need) ---High--- Tachyon Modulated Beam 1 x4 w/ Navy Multi's Drone Link Tractor Beam (for that pesky mission container that is out of reach) ---Rigs--- CCC x3 ---Drones--- 5 Hob 2's 5 Hammer 2's
Stable w/o shield booster.
Someone mentioned having a NOS in the highs, but seeing as almost everything gets WFTBQ'd before it gets inside of 30k, i don't think they would get used much.
This fit is nice if you have a mate who has a large Cap transfer as its only -74 cap/sec w/ booster active (bout the same as a large Cap Transfer II) and he then becomes my tank sustainer and target painter, remote tracking/sensor boost...

I have one more question if you guys don't mind :)
I have noticed that most people with a nightmare seem to equip there guns with Navy Multi...
Why not use a combination of T2 ammo.. Gleam and Aurora depending on range of NPC's?

Have you seen the penalties on the T2 ammo?
-75% range for gleam .... 0.25 tracking multiplier with Aurora.
Both effectively mean you apply less DPS, for different reasons.

I'm pretty sure a buyer would get reported for making suicide gankers drown in their own drool.
On a more serious note, is there any real reason to use T2 tachyons over faction? Faction has a much lower draw on cap, and imperial multifrequency seems to be the best ammo for most missions anyways. Though T2 does have higher DPS, it doesn't seem like very much on EFT.

It's about 5.5% more DPS with spec 5. That's pretty significant when you're using a typical Nightmare fit with lows full of heat sinks and TEs. It's comparable to having that 4th heat sink.
Yes, it does cost a lot of cap. It's roughly the difference between not having the Controlled Bursts skill book and having the skill trained to 5. Does that cap difference matter? It depends on your skills and fit, but it tends not to if you took the time to train your cap skills.
