Edited by: Aston Martin DB5 on 24/05/2011 20:44:49 Any mods out that allow players the ability to change the appearance of the fitting window or a player's HUD?
Edit: I guess the correct term is ADD-on >

Is it possible to do via methods not allowed via EULA? Yes.
Will you get banned for it? Yes.
Is there any point to it anyway? No.
Is this WoW? No.

Anything that messes with the client is a violation of the EULA, and will get you banned.

we had a cool-looking but non-practical radar thingy in '03-'04, and some more things that were more for pretty than functionality. Maybe that's what you saw? I don't miss those tbh :)

I'd like to see a return of the radar to be honest. It seems like a nifty tool to quickly identify the position of ships around you. Currently we are limited to spinning our camera until we see them or approaching them to see which direction we travel in.

I think the fishing pole icon does what your asking. (Some call it a tactical overlay, but it's obviously a fishing pole on the edge of a pond with the water going into the pond.) ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |

It was worthless as it just showed blips. Couldn't tell hostiles or friendlies etc.
They replaced it with the overlay thing (can't remember the exact name) which gives you a range overlay and bubbles for weapon ranges when you zoom out.

Yes, but that involves zooming out and looking around the space to see the positions of ships. If you were in a dog fight, that could be annoying. Making an improved version of the radar would be good, even if it showed blips, you could still quickly identify positions of ships with a spin of your camera rather than zooming out and doing the same.
I don't know, there must be someway of effectively showing positions of a ship on a radar. Maybe having two? one XY and the other YZ?

With the exception of frigates* who the hell has the camera zoomed in?
Maybe if you're doing PVE and admiring your ship but otherwise there's little to no reason for it. Also click both buttons and drag - oh look it zooms really fast Some mice (MS mainly) let you spin the middle wheel fast for the same effect.
Edit - oh and I remember the original "radar" and its successor. The successor was in retrospect appallingly bad but it was an order of magnitude better than the original. Tactical overlay is several orders of magnitude better than either.
*and usually not even then except in roid fields or nice little 1v1 fights
