Has anyone ever played Entropia Universe.
Its played on a single shard just like EVE online but for real money.
Basically imagine if you had to pay for every laser you fired and the lasers wore down and had to be repaired and if your ship was damaged you had to pay for the repair.
Now imagine that rats had no bouties and the loot was worth only 60% of your ammo and repair costs
Now imagine that all ships and weapons could only be found on looted ships and these were bought up by ingame players and sold on at massive mark ups and all of this was done with real cash. This is the Entropian universe.
If this happened to EVE it would be a long dark empty universe. Stay the hell away from this super scam and enjoy EVE for everything it has to offer

I used to very briefly play it a long time ago, back when it was still called "Project Entropia", a good while before I started playing EVE. And yes, generally speaking, almost everything the OP said is fairly accurate. _

I beta tested it, seemed like a money grab so I dropped it after a day or two. Glad I did. |

Yeah, I was gonna say ...
I'd say that for some players EVE probably isn't all that different from Entropia - it's just pay for play. For many other players, of course, they still do it the "traditional" way (i.e. treat it like an old skool MMORGP where you just slog through it). The fact that's still possible in EVE does set it apart quite a bit from Entropia.
On the other hand, whatever you may say about Entropia in comparison with EVE, at least it doesn't have a subscription on top of the pay for play.
The real problem with Entropia isn't any sort of moral objection, all that's fine so far as I can see. It's more that Entropia just isn't a very fun game to play, the mechanics are clunky and mediocre and there's not much depth or intricacy to the game.
It can look pretty good though, at times, now that they're phasing in the Cryengine 2 (I think it is). Some quite nice alien landscapes, flora and fauna. *****
