Personally, I love CQ! Really do. I have 2 gripes with it, though, that I see become more of an issue over time:
1) I don't like that every CQ is the same. I know I heard it say it was going to be different per race, but on sisi so far they all look alike.
2) I like to be able to customize my quarters. As the novelty of the new environment starts to wear off, I'd like to dress up my rooms a bit. Custom rugs, maybe; custom wall art, etc. Or having the choice between several different design schemes altogether.
It really just feels more immersive to have something that is distinctively 'yours'. --

If this incarna crap interferes with the normal running of eve for those of us who like to play an internet space ship game for flying around in space ( shocking attitude for a space ship game i know ) then it should be scrapped and this includes delays for docking and undocking as well as the regular lag that we all know and hate

7 days to go, that's plenty of time for the Quafe powered art team to get the remaining CQ & textures sorted out.
And of course 7 days to make sure the "Load station environment" checkbox stays in the game and performs its current functionality of not loading CQ (leaving us with just the neocom). I could care less about spinning my ship model in station, so just leaving a black background is good enough for me (please, CCP, don't give us a static image depicting the CQ - give us a static image depicting the docking bay).
I'd like to be able to play this game in 7 days time, with the choice of entering CQ when I feel like it.

I would be surprised if CCP didn't try funding further development of CQ novelties based on sales of CQ novelties :)
Besides clothes, I'm hoping to see things like astrolabes, mobiles*, model ships, pets/critters, art works, wall hangings and various comestibles (Quafe Ultra bottles, Protein Delicacies in box or bowl, etc).
Oh, and I'd love it if CCP introduced a means for artists to sell their works through the ingame store for realworld commissions. Just like that Linden Lab game.

Yeah - custom walls, lights, accessories, furniture. Doesn't it remind you of some game that has that abilities?
I think the name should be change a little.
EVE: Incarna - The Sims In Space

I've heard this mantra many times before, and I dismiss it. Incarna adds a personal touch to EVE. In that vein it's important to, you know, be able to personalize your CQ.
I recall, in Mass Effect 2, how you could change the photo in a picture frame inside your Captain's Cabin. Or you could buy ship models and such, from malls all across the galaxy, to decorate your cabin with. I'd love to see stuff like that happen for Incarna too.
Oh, and these customizeable items, like wall art and such, should be tied to the particular station you're in, otherwise it's fake again. --

CCP, PLEASE let us turn off this crap.
I want to play that internet spaceship game, not Sims Online!!!!
As seen on Singularity and Duality it takes ages to load and it's nearly useless.
Not to mention how many players won't be able to play like they were used to play - caused by really crazy system requirements.
Just as an example: Incarna doesn't even run smoothly on a machine with performance index of 6.0 in high definition graphics.
This machine isn't older than 1 1/2 year and was nearly the latest technology at that time.

I love what I have seen so far, and I agree, I hope that it can be customized somewhat, lights, ect... hey I loved the sims, and the only way you could kill one was with a fireplace or a swimming pool... no fun there. Here we have rail guns.... Mu ha ha ha ha ha... cough... cough.... darn cigarettes.
But seriously,I was wondering, can we stream out netflix through one of the monitors in the room... that would be so sweet.

My flavor way of killing a Sim was to remove the only door in the room. Starvation is a painful way to go.

This ! Will start officialy the end of the pvp community in eve online. While ppl are talking about door/fire and railgun in eve in place of talking about FAILGUN and others well-knowed issues in the game or really good time in pvp while blasting each other.
Seriously guys... I play gallente since 2008 and spend more than 25M sp on one toon. Guess what i have after this long time while waiting to a balance ? People talking about lights on the CQ
I have talk with friends in game and we conclude that the best way to have fun with the actual game mechanic is to suicide gankin' in jita and enter a corp to steal assets ! Does it sounds like a pvp game?
I love to play a game with beautifull graphic and avatar... but with no decent mechanic is just... crappy as hell. Look at minecraft... this game has really crappy graphic but has a good mechanic, so beautifull game doesn't mean anything !
EVE online has always been introduced like a pvp game (the sandbox), and in internet space ship game which is introduced like a pvp game, the top priority is PVP.Not because i want it, but because CCP tell us !
I'm really fedup to see carebears to rules a pvp game and followed by the devs...
Don't talk me about apologies, you just have to delete some code on the database to have a good game, not to creat newer ! The ****ing hamster could do it by itself in one day...
@ppl who find this is a spectacular extension and etc. This extension will not be completed... never... And when you will understand that you will come on the exact same forum as I to rage and scream about that. Like i'm doing for the past extensions not completed who lead this PVP GAME to the ground.

It's been a very long time since I have posted here. Probably gonna get flamed for saying it...
I have just 3 words for Incarna.
Couldn't. Care. Less....
Sorry guys, this was, and should still be an "Internet spaceship game" as the saying goes. I get it that you want to test drive your shiny new 3D character emulator for your NEXT big project (whatever that is), but I just don't see this having any practical use whatsoever to the core game concept that is EVE Online.
You can throw eggs at me now. I don't care. I still think this is a waste of hard drive space and loading time for a game that has enough OTHER issues as yet unresolved... many of them for years...

Cheers mate, couldn't agree more and I can say you will not get flamed from me. Like you I hardly ever post and expect the flamers to take over shortly after our posts but I totally agree with you.
There have been issues in Eve for years that are still issues. Rather than fixing those issues it seems that adding more issues is the way to do things. There are plenty of "avatar" based MMO's out there, I see no need to waste the server space, nor the drive space on my computer to have some avatar to look at.
However I do think you and I are the minority on this or so it would seem that way.

Edited by: MATTHIAS LODGE on 21/06/2011 16:02:03 So I partially play this game for realism.. so I think CQ is a great step ahead in actually feeling that you are your character and not just a ship in space..
However, having a quarters in one station that is totally customizable shouldn't mean that you can go to every other station in Eve and you end up in your same custom built room. That's not very realistic.
Also why is it called "Captain's Quarters". A Captain in the scheme of things is pretty low in rank. Most People aspire to be greater and have their own Penthouse Suite at the station with a Jacuzzi.. a quarters reward system as you go up in rank/skill level? or upgraded quarters on the market? That would be cool..just some useless but fun ideas..

EVE ONLINE is a PVP game, CCP tell us and show that to us. More than that, they base the all marketing of the game on that. I know you probably ask to me if i have proof and guess what? YES I HAVE !
This is one of the famous trailer of our game. http://www.youtube.com/user/CCPGAMES#p/c/6/zDVEHE10nHc
As you can see, we see the dock of the station, the corporation screen, we can also see mission runner... oh wait... we don't see anything of this ? Because of what ? Because of if we can see all of that crap, it will be between the sims and wow, not really eve online.
An other argument of that game is a pvp game based. http://www.eveonline.com/en/tournament
This is not the first time this event happened. CCP shows us that the attractive part of the game is the PVP. An entire web TV just for that ! (and we can see how much the game is broken on several ship/game mechanic thanks to that event)
So, If CCP use the PVP part of the game to make movies and "trap" some ppl to begin and pay monthly to play the game, i want to have a PVP mechanic in good health AND the pvp part of the game as TOP PRIORITY
In the last movies we can see dreads shooting at planet... lol?... no one field them actually cause they just have no sence anymore and CCP show them on a movie ?
I really hope that CCP don't forget that EVE is PVP... and they will remember that they will stop their fail extensions for carebears (incarna, incursion, and many more to come)

Something I find absolutely hilarious is how all of the PVPers are crying about Incarna. The only PVPers I've really come in contact with have been little more than high-sec griefers, so I associate PVPer == griefer.
All of these sweet, sweet tears make me glad that I am a carebear with perfect station trading skills.....

OK so yes we all want to be good PvP'ers like Eve should be.. But unlike the 7-8 year players, new players like myself have to use all the crap you are describing to build skills and mine and trade etc, just so we can make enough isk to buy a few ships so we can go out and have a stab at PvP. Which we will probably lose anyway to you guys if all we did was PvP. So thats why there is safe places in the game and thats why CCP has to make non-PvP game play more interesting in my opinion.
Eve doesn't revolve around the Billionaires with endless isk and ships for PvP.

You right sir. That's exactly the point. But the system of trade, build, skills etc have also some issues. That's why one more extension will not resolve the case. And you can go pvp with a 3 months char and make some good isk with the current version this part of the game. I m not agree with you when you say that improve station will make rise interest for the trad/prod of relatively young players. When you will crash into the wall of issues on prod, the very poor benefits of prod (when you are young player) etc... This extension is not making that better, it just hide that behind a smokescreen.

NONE, you will have an issue and black screen when loading it.
more seriously, i think each pilot will have a CQ no matter the station, no matter the pilot's race. For the time, you will have the minmatar skin of the CQ. Other skins will be on the next patch.

I think CQ should only be available when you build your own player pos.. Then you could look out your window and see you silos and railgun batteries and your corp minions flying around working for you. That would be more rewarding. That what I'd do if I was in charge.

Almost all the complaints about CQ have a fundamental flaw in their justification: the complainant makes a statement about how and why they play the game, and then takes one of two egocentric attitudes:
The more vexing is the assumption that everyone else's how and why should be the same as theirs, made hand-in-hand with disparaging comments or inferences about anyone else's play style. I feel schadenfreude reading these posts. No sympathy.
The more reasonable but still selfish attitude is the expectation that every change or addition to the game mechanic should never inconvenience their own gaming experience, no matter how much it enriches other players'. While on the one hand everyone is a customer, everyone signs up knowing full well that this is a community game. A lot of people are looking forward to the addition. How many recent changes have been aimed at that part of the community that enjoys the sense of immersion in New Eden?
