Not at it right now so can't quote the graphics processing power of the machine. 8 Gb of Ram and 3.2 GhZ i5 processor. I did get it pre-built because I didn't want to have to **** around with putting it together. Mostly because I don't have the experience already and don't have people I trust to show me what to do.
It has no trouble playing eve. In fact it runs 5 clients with little to no lag. But that's because you can turn down the graphics settings to super low.
But now Incarna FORCES graphics settings higher. So while yes, had I known Incarna would not be an optional element of Eve I would have bought a better graphics card for my computer, as it stands, there's no hope of running 5 clients of incarna on the lowest settings for my PC.

Srsly, I don't think this is something that should be done. Next time CCP is introducing something new, everyone & his dog will demand it be made optional, because it infringes on *their* vision of New Eden.
I understand the worries about hardware and graphics demands - my 2008 Acer laptop may also have a hard time with Incarna - but I won't pass judgment on that until I've seen the final product, which Duality should not be representative of..
Incursions ARE optional, don't go into one.
Bubbles ARE optional, don't go into 0.0
Pet peeves... idk.
But docking in stations is NOT optional. So at the very least CCP needs to make Incarna not a system raping expansion *can't do worse than deleting a boot.ini file* OR failing that, make walking in stations a choice so that if we just want to chat with our agent and peace out it doesn't take 5 minutes.

If you're #1 reason for having the computer is gaming then graphics capabilities should be at the top of your priority list when building it, and I'm not talking about for immediate capabilities I'm talking about system longevity. If you buy a low end graphics card even in the same series as a higher end card (f. ex let's consider the 200 series nvidia cards like mine). My card is a gtx285, in the same series is the gtx250 and gtx260 and maybe a gtx240. While these cards are part of the 200 series their performance is DRASTICALLY lower and I mean that. If you want to see some comparison just google gpu benchmark articles and you can see the difference.
From what I can see even without knowing what gpu you have I can see a bunch of stuff that you could have changed in order to have money to shift to improving the gpu. First of all 8GB of ram is not really necessary yet, and of all the components to upgrade later is the easiest, next is the CPU, you could have easily gotten a 3.00 GHZ or 2.8 Ghz i5 and shaved some cash of while having a minimal effect on overall system performance. What you have to realize is that to get the best system performance you have to build a balanced system and right now your GPU is a serious bottleneck. You say that you can run 5 clients with minimal lag if your turn everything to minimum, but if you had gotten a slightly better gpu you would likely be able to run all 5 on medium or high settings with the same effect.

That point is irrelevant anyways since CCP changed the game client to share resources between multiple instances of the client unless all 5 characters are docked in different races stations the memory footprint increase would be minimal. hmm, so this COULD be incarna with captians q...well..how do i say that??!! L A M E !!! I play eve now for over 1 year with two chars and did nearly everything posible in highsec, cause i love playing the game with my mates THAT way..more equals the old game called ELITE. It had a simple interface and was good. Running around on station to get my jobs at the hangar done is nothing that really rocks. Whats wrong CCP? Didnt you got some better ideas than that? Allmost half of the "highsec"-Corp got bored and thought about leaving eve for ever (btw, the over half did now). Incursion was nice and i or we joined some fights, lost some good ships there (raven, drakes, mackinaws, etc) = allso carebears need some action from time to time . How about kick some a. with double or multi monitor interfaces, custom-made views or statistics about movements and markets, bring up the tradingfun. You where so concentrading on PVP that you allmost forget the other player who have another view at eve (miner, missionrunner) and by that lost some with seeting down LPs, bounty, etc. See, thats why i called it LAME at the beginning = nothing new just cosmetics, seen that all before.

I was wondering the same. I'm running on a PC that I bought around 3 years ago (cost me around 600 Ç back then, had a Phenom 1 X4 9950, 4 gig ram, MSI Mobo with the AM2+ Chipset, 300 Gig HDD and came with a low budget ATI card and Vista) and on which i upgraded the graphicscard about 2 years ago(Geforce GTX 260, around 200Ç) and I highly doubt that I will have trouble running Incarnia. I'm running eve on 1680x1050 with max details, 8xAA and 8XAF and I have an avareage of 70-80 FPS. So if He really recently spend 800 bucks on a PC that is running eve at such a low framerate I think he's been ripped off.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 4850 1GB that I bought about a year ago for $40 US. It should be really easy to get even a better card for about the same price now.
I'm personally looking forward to Incarna. I always thought of how cool it would be to be able to fly spaceships, land on planets, and explore those planets and other things like that, but only CCP has attempted to make such a game, which is truly innovative.
However, I agree that this will be a tough change for many, and I do agree that actually getting out of the pod should be optional. Are we seriously going to drain the fluid in our pods, get fully dressed, and take a shuttle to the gantry, just to unload some ore or loot from our cargoholds?
It would be my suggestion, that we get a "Passive Dock" option. Think of this as driving up to a gas station and getting an attendant to fill up the tank. We are docking the ship, to either quickly switch fittings, unload the cargo, or resupply ammo; however, in order to interact with agents, upgrade clones, switch ships, etc, we have to do the full docking process.
Maybe I write this up in the suggestions forum, but anyway.
As the for comment about needing to upgrade the in-space UI, they are already working on it. If you look at the test server, they are testing the branch "RIGHTHANDED-CARBONUI", which is apparently a new UI framework, so after they finish getting that in place, I imagine they will start making UI changes.
In the meantime, everybody just chill. Give it until July 21st before you decide to leave Eve, give Incarna an honest shot.

Question: I assume the Incarna release will require a significant download to update the client. How soon will a boxed version with Incarna be available? Some of us have the worst imaginable internet with comparatively low bandwidth allowances; installing from a disc would be preferable.
Absolutely agree! Or even better - next CCP giveaway, rather than a ship with little use other than eye candy, all subscribers get a disc sent to home address with incarna client to install from *dreams*

Soà four weeks to go.
And so far we have not been able to test the client under OSX.
The last time you did this, it cause some severe issues when it was released, and part of the game was nigh-on unplayable until it was fixed. You could still enjoy EVE if you just avoided those areas and/or disabled some stuff in the settings.
The problem is that, in this case, the "part of the game" is unavoidable. There is no setting to disable it. Unless you intend to discontinue the Mac client, you really need to get a test version out pronto. And if you are going to discontinue it, you need to say this equally pronto. Last-week-testing (which in all previous cases has actually been last-week-showcasing and completely-ignore-testing-feedback) will not cut it with this kind of fundamental change of the game.
So when are we OSX users going to be able to test Incarna? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I like Incarna so far, at least what I've seen of it. It'd need quite a bit more meat before I even care about walking around in a station for more than 5 minutes every season just to be reminded that I can.
They really need to make shops where you can sell goods or something worth attracting players outside their pods before making it a mandatory element of eve.
As it stands, meat spinning is all we can do in station... and I don't want that.

I have been testing CQ on duality and I like it... with reservations. (for those complaining ships are too small read the previous dev-blog, that change is in the NEXT patch, if its still not to your liking whine then)
But I want it [CQ] to be optional. I don't want to enter CQ every time I dock. It doesn't make sense to me. This is partly from an immersion/role-play perspective, and partly from a speed/loading time perspective, but also I like the hanger as it is and the view of my ship it gives (that said if a new funky hi-res hanger was in the offing then I wouldn't say no).
ATM the new 3d UI basically loads up the old UI windows, and will for the foreseeable future. Thus CQ will all be buried under a mass of windows. Until CQ, and ambulation have a unique purpose then I will not use them in game, I will use the old UI. I won't be able to see the new station environment under the old UI. So why waste time loading it at all?
Also to those saying HTFU this was always planned get over it... Yes they always planned to add avatars and WIS, but they are Taking something away to give it to us... our current hangers, and the choice as to whether we stay in our ships or not. I like the new stuff, I want the new stuff, I also want to keep the old stuff.
I want ambulation to be a success and want to use it (when it has a purpose) but I also want to chose when I use it. I think you (CCP) have made a major error in making CQ compulsory on docking. I have said this before, and will keep saying it till you change this.
Also when CQ breaks on launch, if its optional, we will all still be able to dock without worrying about loading CQ and crashing.
Gently prodding till you get it right
