As a straight-up answer to your question: mission running. While you're still on lvl1 or 2 missions, most of your profit will come from salvage. Later levels, especially 4s with an optimized setup, salvaging wil decline in importance enough that it eventually becomes a waste of time.
Someone in a hulk with a dedicated hauling alt will be making less than someone running lvl3s with a dedicated salvaging alt. And will have had to train longer to do so.

Mission running is far more profitable than mining and the skill points put into mission running will be translatable into pvp activities.

Solo, mission-running.
Dualboxing, mission-running.
Three accounts, probably still mission-running.
Four accounts, just about even, give or take, I guess.
Five or more accounts, assuming you can manage, then mining.
