I downloaded the full package for Incarna on Duality this morning. I've renamed the app and modified the Info.plist to have its own preferences folder. On startup it says its pointing to Singularity with an incompatible release so I go to modify the config file in preferences to point to the correct server address but the preferences directory is not there.
I relaunch Duality and change some preferences to see if that forces the folder to create but it doesn't. The funny thing is relaunching Duality and the preferences are remembered.
I've confirmed several times the I have indeed updated the Info.plist to have its own, unique preferences folder.
I did try modifying the config file inside the app package as well to see if that would help but its still pointing at Singularity. |

Found the change. The preferences folder is being created in Application Support with the default name of EVE Online. This is going to break having multiple separate client preferences so I'll file a bug report as soon as I can. |

For those curious if its worth trying to test on a Mac I'm in and walking around. My avatar has some weird coloring and I can't seem to right click on anything but this beats not being able to see anything. |

Yeah, finding that file was a major headache :)
Been testing it for a short while on both a mbp with nvidia and imac with ATI. No difference between those systems so far, interestingly enough.
Once logged in, walking about in the station does work, but the highres textures are not displayed correctly. When putting everything to low things get pretty smooth but of course not pretty. The screens can be clicked as well I noticed.

Thanks Rees. That made it work for me. Will explore the build when I have time.
I got no issue with the move to the application support folder, but we do need unique names for TQ, Sisi, and Duci builds.

If Incarna would support multiple clients hitting one preferences folder I'd be happy but with the current client we definitely need to be able to create unique folders for each instance. If this isn't resolved by 21 June I'll be limited to one account at a time. Not a good thing. |

I just tried running 2 instances of the current duality build ( which I named Eve onlineduci ) by opening the terminal app and entering
open -n /Applications/Eve\ onlineduci.app
And it worked.

You can do that with the current version as well. The weirdness starts after you've been running for awhile and the clients start writing stuff to the shared files that interferes with each other. It'll get even worse if we end up running Tranquility, Singularity and Duality and they all point to just one preferences folder. If they decide to change file formats then test clients could end up trashing our TQ settings.
This feels likes a change made by Transgaming but I don't have any evidence. It should be a minor fix. |

Shameless bump as evidence we have been talking about this for almost a month and there has been no word on this problem despite a TG guy posting on this forums recently.
As for evidence it's a change transgaming did, there's plenty of evidence. CCP writes windows code. It would not be able to read the info.plist file. Also a lot of settings in the root directory of the preference folder must be known before the EvE client proper is instantiated (including the one where we specify the eve command line argument to force TQ flagged builds of SiSi to actually connect to SiSi).
I'm now however suspecting that neither TG nor CCP has realized yet what the problem is. Moving the preferences to Application Support is a valid move from TG's point of view (it's where they should have been to begin with). The fact that having a single preference folder is a problem is something CCP should have been concerned with. But probably CCP did not realize that TG's new mechanism prevented this. --- I don't know! I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again!
