Edited by: Oen Saissore on 28/05/2011 03:45:38 Okay. So I have talked with friends and I understand that there are isk spammers. And not only that. I do understand that the elite of the ISK Sellers dont even spam. You just go to the site and then they have their processes and such. But the main thing that I would like to ask is this:
1) For those who buy ISK from a 3rd party site, what are the consequences?
2) For those who have friends who give them ISK and other things and then out of their own generosity pay them for it, is that illegal?
So please do let me know as I am already a little bit tired of grinding out belt after belt. But I do like it as I just seem to watch movies.

1. You'll probably get your account hacked, your credit card # stolen and CCP will take the isk you bought out of your wallet leaving a possible negative balance in which case you won't be able to use the market as there are transaction fees which you can't afford. 2. Yes, RMT is a bannable offense and all strange isk transmissions are investigated
And you're probably going to get banned for admitting to account sharing

Well right now the accounts are as good as mine because I am buying the plexs. And also paying for them. Thus I dont think that I should have to worry about that.
And all of these things are just "circumstantial" as I was just wondering what would happen.
So for all the moderators who might read this. I am paying for the accounts and not sharing the ones that I am on currently as the person who had them before gave them to me under the understanding that I will pay for the plexs to keep them running if I wanted them.

And as far as the plex buying from 3rd party sites. Who are the ones that are legal? Or are there no legal sites to purchase plexs from other than Eve online?

You can buy them from the character sheet, you can buy gametime codes from shattered crystal and convert them to plexes

Do you know if Eveonline is going to go into stores? Because if they did that I think that a lot more people would be able to buy plexs. because a lot of people dont have credit cards and such.

List of official game time card resellers.
As for shops. Once they where available in a few UK Iceland stores but I haven't read anything about them in years.
As for your point 2: beware that if your friend got his isk or items through a non CCP supported way, you get hit as much as your friend when they find out. And they will find out.

How is it that they find out? I mean seriously?
And as far as getting hit? It was just a question that I asked. And they have nothing to do with it.
But as far as the other stuff. Im supporting the accounts by buying plexes and such. Not only that I just had another friend (who I didnt pay a dime to) give me 1.5bil until I am able to get into a wormhole and actually start making them and us money. Not only that I heard from them I could easily make like 200 mil an hour or something like that in their class 3 wormhole.

ahaha. I heard that they hire a guy to go through all of the market and such just to see if anything is suspicious.
But what they really need to do is make their presence known in jita with all of the gosh damn scammers there!

Well it's important to note that Scamming is completely legal! So long as it doesn't involve accounts or passwords or RMT. So if you mange to trick someone into giving you stuff, more power to you.
CCP is of course tight lipped about how they go about detecting RMT, it would appear they err on the side of caution and don't ban as many suspected RMTers as they'd like. Differentiating an alt, a friend you are trying to convince to play eve and an RMTer are not very easy to tell apart. But once they figure it out.... boy are you going to feel the pain. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Well. Night Eve. Tomorrow I go to see if the guy that hit me is on a camera at a store that he went into to buy cigarettes. And if he is. Than maybe I can get my truck fixed and start working again! Especially because I need it to cover 3 accounts! (45 a month is easily paid with a steady job) :D As long as there is a war, there will always be longing for peace - Oen Saissore |

RMT ( real money trading) is a ban worthy offense. as for what site you are allowed to buy plex from check the list of authorized retailers on the eve website.
and even if your friend gave you the account with you paying al the fees involved thats till against game rules. selling or trading accounts breaks the eula. if you want to do it legally you need to start your own account and transfer any characters you want over

You make the mistake assuming that YOUR logic (one which conveniently suits you) is the same as CCP's, it isn't. If you're not the original owner of the account then it's not yours to take or use, you're ofcourse allowed to pay for it but accessing it isn't allowed.

But if you pay CCP to transfer the same character with all its possessions to another account it's suddenly good and fine and dandy and 100% allowed!
No wonder national laws don't support this EULA nonsense ..

I agree with Anne on this.
So basically what I would be doing. Is paying $20 per character that somebody gave the account to use, which in this case would be well near $180 to get all the characters. And then on top of that, pay monthly?
Now that, just doesnt make sense. Nor seem fair to me as I am broke and the main reason I started playing this game was because I heard that I could buy the plexes if I got enough ISK.

You can use PLEX to start a fresh account, it will cost you two PLEX to transfer each character to said account (I presume you will move 9 characters to 3 accounts and not to 9 accounts).
So all in all you will need 21 PLEX to get started in a nice legit way. From then on you will need 3 PLEX per month to keep going. The question is though, why the heck do you need all 9 characters?

Yes for a fee equivalent to $17.50 x 21 = $367.50 it's all according to the rules. Anyway: how can CCP prove you're another player and you didn't just move to another adress?

So? We are allowed to play EVE on a lot of different computers. Some people play EVE at work, at home, at their friend's houses ..

Let's hope you never get hacked as from that day onwards those accounts will be dead in the water as you can't prove you are the original account holder.
Well if you are good at making ISK (10b or so), those 21 PLEX will be free.

I have two machines in my room and I frequently use either to play EVE. I also travel a lot, and I log on even from different countries in short intervals (from different machines obviously). I moved to the US and back. But I never got any kind of accusation of account sharing.
A corpmate who as far as he says only ever used one single computer in his home to play EVE got his account temporarily disabled for three days because of investigations of account sharing. ---

There are aspects of this I've always wondered about. If I'm out at a bar with eve friends and am short of cash:
"Cover my tab tonight and I'll send you a PLEX / T2 BS / T3 cruiser tomorrow."
"I bet you a T3 cruiser that the Bruins will beat the Canucks for SC."
Employer to Employee (both eve players): "Want some overtime tonight? Hangout and FC a roam."

Theoretically, this kind of "casual RMT" is against the EULA. In practice, since it's both undetectable and fairly harmless, then a "dont ask dont tell" policy would seem to apply.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

If you need game time Buy Plex with Isk or IRL money
If you need isk Buy plex with IRL money and then sell the plex for isk
