Edited by: Quazal Atreides on 28/05/2011 11:05:01 for industrial purpose it makes no difference..
But for hauling (industrial ships) then i would always (and still are) gallente.... best blockade/warp cloaked ships, best industrial Iteron 5 ftw.. and obelisk is 900k and a lil bit more agility than the slow ass charon....
however.. for a starter toon then doesn't hurt to have Amarr industrial 3.... for training time v cargo space can't be beaten imo

I personally disagree with Gallente being the best haulers. It ultimately boils-down to what class of hauler you may end up using the most.
- Gallente have the best Industrial Ships, and decent Transports.
- Amarr Industrials are easy to use but mediocre, but their Transports are the better than all others. Also many find their ships the be the most attractive.
- Minmatar Industrials are good, but not the best. Likewise with their Transports. All of them are rather nimble, and their Blockade Runner, the Prowler, has the unique distinction of being the only Transport with 2 High Slots (all others have but a single High).
- Caldari Haulers are rather mediocre across the board, but to make up for that, their Freighter (the Charon) is the biggest available.
Regular Industrials should be avoided whenever possible, even in highsec, as they're little more than cardboard boxes with thrusters attached. Thus I don't give Gallente haulers much thought. Thus, I've stuck with Amarr, and regularly use the Prorator when hauling small to medium loads. If I need to haul more, I used to use the Impel, but since moved onto the Orca. The Providence isn't the fanciest freighter in the world, but it's so much prettier than the others, so I don't mind the slightly reduced capacity of it.

The prowler can fit a cloak and a probe launcher.
If you need that its pretty nice.

Itty V simply the best. Hisec Hauler, Cloaky Transport, LOLWTF PVP, you name it - there's not a single thing the Iteron V can't do.

I'd take matar again, but I'd consider training up for another races to compliment.
Prowler is nice with its utility slot, but it lacks the space to fit a cruiser hull in which iirc, al the other cloaky haulers can do, which would be pretty usefull,
The fenrir is the fastest of the freighters when it comes to autopiloting across hi sec, but tbh, most of the time i manually do it with a webber alt anyway, it is however one of my favourite looking ships in the game, which was my main reason to train for one when most of my needs are met by an orca anyways =)
also +1 for the guy that said about amarr indy rank3, I think every one of my characters can fly a bestower.

My bustard is pushing slightly over 31k m3. Maybe a LITTLE better than that. What can you get out of an It V?

A little over 48k, 51k if you're not shy about t2 rigs. It's well worth the train time if you're an indy. I also forgot to mention earlier it can push 1.5k.... m/s

All the races have something unique about them.
For me a freighter was most important, as was every m3. So I have a Caldari Industrial 5 trained on all my 5 accounts.
* Charon: Largest freighter, but slowest. Great for at-the-keyboard navigating (warp to zero). * Bustard: Deep Space Transport with the most cargo for the EHP (Minmatar Mastodan is a very close runner-up). Not the largest though (that would be an Amarr Impel). * Crane: Blockade Runner with the highest base cargo. Really requires T2 cargo rigs to shine in my opinion, and is otherwise an adequate BR. * Rhea: largest jump freighter, but not the most fuel efficient (nothing is free).
As I trained it 5 times, I guess you could say I'm happy with it.
Amarr was my second choice, largely because of the amazing Prorator blockade runner.

If you're thinking about taking the industrial skill to 5...
1.) Completely ignore deep space transports. They've been almost completely obsoleted by the Orca (possible exception for W-space, but you should really be using a blockade runner here). 2.) Remember that freighters are limited as much by the value of their cargo as by its volume. This somewhat limits the value of the Charon, since the limit on what you can haul is often not limited by cargohold. For what it's worth, the Obelisk has the most EHP. 3.) With T1 cargohold optimization rigs, a Prorator or Viator can hold a repackaged cruiser (10k m3). A Crane can do the same, but requires that both rigs be T2. A Prowler cannot hold a cruiser at all, but gets an extra high slot to compensate. 4.) The Iteron Mark V is without a doubt the best industrial. It is not, however, a Battle Badger.

Itty 5 is heads and shoulders above any other t1 industrial - it's not even close.

I'm happy with my choice of Gallente.
Mostly because of this:
[Occator, PVP - Hotdrop] Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 400mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor Explosive Hardener II Centii C-Type Adaptive Nano Plating
Warp Scrambler II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator

I considered training Minmatar so I could use a Prowler for its two high slots, but with the low cargo capacity compared to the other BR's, I decided against it. I've always liked Amarr. Sure, the Iteron V is a beast when it comes to cargo capacity, but they're way too easy to pop and are prime targets for many highsec gankers. With the Orca, I don't even use my Impel much anymore, but I use my Prorator on a regular basis.
I never used Caldari haulers, mostly on principal as I'm Gallente --- If you've read something I posted and want to contact me, EVE-Mail me, or contact me via EVE Gate. |
