Hi there. I am part of a corp that is rather new. We have alot of members that are new to eve and to top it all of they are mostley miners. So in other words we dont have any real ability to fight.
So there is this corp that just randomly declared war on us. They gave no reason and nobody has been able to get a hold of any of them. They have been shooting down several of our ships and are now camping outside our HQ and just waiting for our defenceless members try to go back out to mine.
I took a look at what other wars the attacking crop was involved in and it seems to be two other corps similar to ours (new corps that focus on mining and production)
Is there nothing we can do to stop there greifing? They dont seem to want anything from us. We seriously have nothing to give. I just dont understand why they are doing this. We have lost several members to this and some people are even quiting eve entiely because of it.
Is there nothing we can do to end the war? Becasue I like eve i want to play it but im forced to just sit in the base all day or instatly get killed once i leave the station.
Any help on the matter would be greatly appreceated.

Just keep undocking ships, they will eventually run out of ammunition. If that fails, see if someone is selling balls on the market.

Drakes.
Lots of Drakes. Get every player you have into a Drake. Get them all to log in at the same time. Make sure they fit tackling gear.

Well some varied replies. But I think im going to join a good alliance and get some help chasing them off.
Leving the corp and joining again might be a last resort.
I just think its a shame that people find joy in doing things like this. EVE is hard enough as it is for new players. And doing things like this only turn people of to the game and in turn will hinder the player base from growing.

It's only a shame when it happens to you. When you gain the ability to do it to those weaker than you, it suddenly becomes hilariously fun.

That's exactly the attitude that i don't like. Its not about it happening to me, I hate that its happening at all. I want more people to come and enjoy eve for the great game it is but griefers like the corp hearsing us is making people turn away the very same week they start playing the game.
Do they not want people to come and expand eve and make it even better? Its just selfish of them to turn people off to the game simply for a few giggles. How can it even be fun to kill totally new players in a basic frigate when your flying around in a maxed out battlecruiser?
I would never do such a thing in any game. Its just not fun and its really counterproductive to the gaming environment that you yourself are playing in.

You will probably disagree, but griefers are part of what makes Eve so great in the first place. Consider this: A newbie corporation is attacked by griefers. Now it has a few choices. It can tuck tail and go back to WoW. It can start researching ways to defend themselves, thus becoming more involved in Eve. It can hire mercenaries, thereby making valuable connections. It can fight them head-on, and use the experience gathered from the conflict to become a badass anti-pirate corp.
Yes, people quit Eve because of griefers. But those people are weaklings who would have quit the first time something went wrong. Griefers are agents of change. They force adaptation. And if you survive the process of adaptation, you can deal with most of what Eve can throw at you. You make friends, but more importantly, you make enemies - and enemies are the ones that really give you something to strive toward.

Edited by: Ji''kahr on 29/05/2011 06:39:00 Hi there.
I think the reason they are attacking you is because you are a Mining/ missioning corporation. They know by your corps name that you can't or won't fight back. Also, I think it was a mistake to make your headquarters a place where you dock regularly. Try moving your headquarters to a place you would almost never go, such as Hek or Amarr. All your headquarters is is a button people can press to join your corp.
I took a look at what other wars the attacking crop was involved in and it seems to be two other corps similar to ours (new corps that focus on mining and production).
Have you contacted them? They sound like potential allies.
Is there nothing we can do to stop there greifing? They dont seem to want anything from us. We seriously have nothing to give. I just dont understand why they are doing this. We have lost several members to this and some people are even quiting eve entiely because of it.
They are doing it for the laughs. They are bullies, and are looking for an easy target and kill mails. You have several options. One is to remain docked for a week and do some mining/ missioning/ ratting with one of your two alts. You did create your other two alts, didn't you? Another is to hire a mercenary corp. Since they are griefers, some of them will help you out for free, or a reasonable cost. A third option is to pack up all your stuff and leave the area. Use your neutral hauler alts to do this (you do have neutral hauler alts, don't you?) You might even like your new home better. A fourth option is to fight back, and the best way for a non PVP'er to do this is with is with target jamming e-war ships. No fun to fight at all, and no kill-mails for them.
Is there nothing we can do to end the war? Becasue I like eve i want to play it but im forced to just sit in the base all day or instatly get killed once i leave the station.
Sure. Bore them to death. Deny them killmails for the whole week. Remain docked, use your other two alts to do hauling and missioning. Also, move to a new area. Don't think of that place as your 'base', it's just a station. Head to a completely new region and set up your new home there. Remember to move your HQ to a place where you would never or seldom go so you can't be camped. Train one of your alts to be a fighter, and join Faction warfare to learn how to fight. Find a PVP corp that needs an Industrial arm, and offer to do their mining and manufacturing for them. Or, have a Security division of your own corporation that will protect your miners. .

first of all
Stop whinging and seeking attention. That is what they are looking for. You are providing the enjoy they are looking for. Train infomorph skill and put a JC into another system about 20 jumps away. There are several posts on forums about getting jump clones. Then when they find you at your new system move to a third system etc etc. Eventually they will get bored of chasing you all over high sec to get kills.
Grow a set of nuts and undock in supertanked drakes and just fight them. Takes about 4 days to train for drakes. Ask goons they got hundreds of pilots in drakes.

Excellent advice, especially given that installing a jump clone in empire takes a standing of 8 to the station owners which takes some time to work towards.

Eve might need griefers to make it interesting but that doesnt mean you have to like getting grieved. No one likes being just some defenseless target.
My advice would be to seek military support through mercenaries or friendly alliances. There might be older corporations out there who remember their own starting days.
Good luck!

Your idea to team up with an alliance is good. There are many corps and alliances that are actively anti-griefer. Also, if you plan to fight, you can equip yourselves without undocking via alternate, neutral characters.
If you prefer a less combative response, you could all have a 'holiday' of sorts. Everyone in the corp makes an alt character of some other race, and you form a new corp far away from your old one. While the war is on you can play your alts and discover a new part of the EVE universe.
