And the counter-point is that the cost of SCs doesn't nearly make up for the improvement it presents over a normal carrier ù SCs don't follow the general rule of diminishing returns that affects pretty much everything else.
Your own example still works: look at faction/deadspace/officer mods ù twenty times the price gives you something that is only twice as good. Or take the skills example again: 5+ the training time only gives you a 25% higer bonus.
As a result, cost is effectively removed as a balancing factor for SCs because the price:performance ratio is out of bounds.

Because regular caps are fairly well balanced, and subcaps, in turn, are well-balanced towards themà
It is better to normalise the outliers (supercaps) toà wellà the norm, i.e. everything else, than trying to change the norm so that that the supercaps are no longer outliers.
