Agree with above. I haven't received this myself and it just seems like an odd thing to do; have a survey that is aimed toward the game in general but only mail a "select few".

However, you'd have to be incredibly stupid to do it. Major super epic fail on CCP's part. Seriously, 100 kinds of stupid.
edit: imo, someone really needs to be fired in CCP for distributing the survey that way. It would be so freakin' easy to put together a copycat scam mail that looks exactly the same but steals your account information.

Ahem, are you at CCP on something? NO-ONE in their right minds sends out of the blue e-mails to customers asking people to click on links because that's exactly how scammers go about their business. The way you know its a scam is that real companies DON'T do it. __________________________________________________

This is a great example of how CCP fails to communicate internally where we are warned and advised in the 'keep your accounts safe' thread to not click links yet CCP sends out links for us to click. They might instead create a system to deal with offers/etc from the eve site where you access them on login of your account as listed in the email notice.

You guys should really have put that link on your eveonline.com site, even as a subdomain like "survey.eveonline.com". I've been invited to that survey twice and deleted it both times because the link did not even remotely look official.

No, you'd have to be incredibly stupid to think clicking links is incredibly stupid. If your browser gets you into trouble for clicking links, get a better browser. If your e-mail client doesn't know how to display headers to show you the e-mail is coming from the intended sender, get a better e-mail client.
Sure, having a company that can take care of itself host survey's on question-pro and Facebook is off-putting. But I'm getting quite sick and tired of this "ZOMG DON"T CLICK LINKS" pandemonium propagated by idiots who don't know how the internet works.

You're an idiot. Links are sent out all the time containing viruses, keyloggers, etc. The link also directed to http://eveonline-survey-2011.questionpro.com, which doesn't even look legit. You're one of those people that goes "Oh my computer is secured and I can't have anything bad happen to me and herp derp."

No, I agree with the first guy. If your first response to the mail (which CCP first sent out a while ago, with an explanation, the follow-up was only today) isn't checking the URL (which will happen in any real email client) and then being able to determine that surveypro is likely to be a paid service on behalf of the company that are paying them to execute it, you should have your internet access revoked. Just sayin'.

And people trying to nab your account info want to to look as legitimate as possible. The whole idea is to make it look likely to be a safe URL.
To someone not familiar with Question Pro, it looks like a scam.

I so badly want to put together a benign scam mimicking this email to prove how pants-on-head ******ed CCP was to do it that way. I still maintain someone at CCP should be fired for doing it the way they did.
(disclaimer: I am too lazy and too inexperienced to put together such a scam, so when there is an inevitable scam that steals thousands of accounts I will laugh, not be a victim of it, and not responsible for it. Any of you idiots who click any link coming through your email at all regardless of who it's from don't deserve to keep the credit cards you'll have stolen from you.)

The survey itself is a load of garbage.
It's only real focus is "Which magazine should we advertise in?" and "What WoW clone do you play for us to pouch users from?"
The only redemption is it asks a few questions about FactionWar (a major expansion dropped after release and with feature-breaking unpatched bugs since 2008).

If CCP wants you to participate in their survey, wouldn't it be more wiser having a clickable link when you log into the game?
If I may make an educated guess here; fewer would hold onto the tinfoil hat.

is there some other feedback/discussion thread about that survey?
i heard someone mentioning that supposedly 90% of ppl answered as reason for 2nd account that they're flying capitals and therefore feel forced to have a cyno alt.
as a consequence CCP would be revamping the whole cyno game mechanics.
is there some truth behind it or just rumors? i mean tbh this would prolly cost CCP alot of active subscriptions. so i cannot really believe it and don't seem to find anything on forums.
anyone seen/heard/read anything about it?

when you have to petition every email you get to make sure its genuine (and your not about to loose your 7 year old account), kinda removes the "it'll take just 5 minutes" a survay is meant to take.
wouldnt it be easyer to do this via ingame evemail instead, then we would know its legit from the getgo?

And then we can wait from 1 day to over a week for a reply. Is this really practical?
How about CCP has a sticky that only CCP staff may post in legitimizing their latest mailings? Otherwise, the playerbase has no reliable means to determine whether a mailing is legitimate or not. And instead of including a link in the email to lead your customers where ever, instead refer them to the website sticky and click on the link there. If not maybe include a pgp public key to verify it's sent from CCP?
