Edited by: Suen Jynx on 29/05/2011 22:45:56 Hello,
i started my character to become a good fighter with decent skills in everything related to fighting. im mostly doing exploration (high-sec + easier wormhole sites) + missioning (still level 3s since i dont have that much time to grind for isk :) ) one goal would be to go to pvp at some point aswell.
I have trained through all the general fitting skills that i could think of, + some skills that support my playing style (exploration + salvaging). im currently focused on minmatar ships only and i only have skills for armor-tanking.
you can see my current skills here: http://eveboard.com/pilot/Suen_Jynx
soon(tm) i will finish skilling for large projectile turrets, logically t2 skills will follow and then i will think about buying my first battleship :D
since i have mainly experience with projectile turrets my question is now:
what skills do i still need for effective use of missiles? which are the general missiles for a BS?
the second thing would be: what drone skills would you say are still needed? im currently perc/will-specced and im planning to go for an int/mem remap after that (for shield and drone skills).
help is very much appreciated ;)
p.s. am i missing some other important skills?

That's a hole I would plug sooner than later. Get some shield tanking skills; you'll be much happier with that option playing Minmatar, especially as the PvE BS is a pure shield tanker.

Your missile supports are in good shape. BS-sized missiles are cruise missiles and torpedoes. Torpedoes have the added advantage of being used on stealth bombers; cruises are almost solely PvE weapons.

Again, your drone supports are in pretty good shape. I'd definitely take Drone Interfacing to 5 and get Heavy Drone Operation and Sentry Drone Interfacing each to 5 to unlock T2 heavies and sentries respectively.

IIRC, a perc10/will4 will do drones faster by 60sp/h than int10/mem4. I believe it's 2190 vs 2130 with all +4s.
Also, heavies 4 at least, preferably 5 for T2s. I'm not a fan of sentries, but others would argue for sentries at 4 pref 5.

If you want to use missiles and drones while being focused on Minmatar ships, the only real option is a Typhoon (and Hound as stealth bomber). Be aware that it is probably the most skill intensive T1 ship in game if you want to be able to T2 fit it. Besides all the support skills that are needed for guns, missiles and drones you want to have signature focusing and target painting skilled because torpedos (cruises dont make sense on Typhoon) require at least one painter to be effective. Also, you will probably need remote rep and neutralizer modules trained.
Other Minmatar ships use missiles as supplementary weapon systems, this is why many people fit neuts in the remaining highs, because they are not really needed for DPS. There are also some ships with split weapon layouts besides the Typhoon (Cyclone, Huginn) but theyre not used much.
I would think about where you want to use your ships first. Typhoon is a very good ship but cannot be used in cookie- cutter BS fleets because it is primarily a close range brawler with utility. If you aim for PvE, Maelstrom is the better option, but you need shield skills. It takes a looooong time to train all skills properly for the Phoon. To give you a clue, I'm at 51 mil SP and I just recently got all the stuff to T2. Granted, I did not train for the Phoon exclusively, but you can plan around half a year for that ship with good skills, if not more.

I am on a similar track. You need to train shield skills up and get into a Maelstrom. Typhoon is something you come back to after many more SP.

Very much what Zhilia said about drones.
Drone Interfacing 5 ROCKS, T2 sentries ONE SHOT frigs when there is no transversal (meaning when they are incoming), and T2 Ogres eat rat BS alive, never needed more than a gun for aggro on my domi (and i have the skills for T2 railguns, which seemed a waste of time).
As i have not a SINGLE missile skill, get other posters advice.
