Edited by: Lisnar on 31/05/2011 01:09:59 Situation: I am nullsec pilot that is tired of waiting for a jump capable ship to move my ore to refine/sell. I am trying to decide which ship would be best suited for this purpose.. the cloaking ability that the Crane brings or the shear tanking ability the Bustard?
I would appreciate some constructive opinions on this and perhaps some fit ideas. I have found several fits I like on batteclinic but just wondering what other pilots are using out there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

The Crane is your only sane choice. The Bustard is not going to tank anything. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

The Crane is also a lot faster than the Bustard, but the Bustard can take more cargo. I don't know anything about 0.0 ores, but in general ore is bulky so that suggests the larger ship.
The Bustard has some built-in warp scramble resistance, but that doesn't help against interdictor spheres and the HIC effect (which is called what?) as far as I know.
Have you thought about refining the ore out in 0.0 instead, and either hauling the minerals to high-sec, or else selling the minerals in 0.0? As far as I know, a POS refinery can't reach 100% efficiency, but for high sec ores the resulting minerals are a lot less bulky than the ores you refine from.

You are not going to move any reasonable amounts of ore in either. Ask your corp's freighter or JF pilots to move it for you. Or mine in a system with a refinery station if possible. ---

I fly both ships in lowsec for my PI projects. The Crane is the safer bet by far, though it can only hold about a third of what my Bustard can carry. I did lose a Crane once to a bubble camp in nullsec, but I wouldn't even think about bringing a Bustard into null under normal circumstances.

He did say he CBA waiting on JFs
Crane safest bet, warping around cloaked you would have to fail to get caught. But it does have a very small capacity.
If you can get a scout then a bustard may be alright, but yea very dangerous if you get caught in a bubble cos that thing moves like a whale.

Edited by: Pam Demonium on 31/05/2011 18:40:15 We use the Bussy in high sec, and the Crane in low sec.

Crane = Moving stuff through low / null sec (warning: you should still use a scout).
Bustard = Use for picking up ore when jet-can mining.
