Hello,
I have recently started doing level 4 missions in a Typhoon, and just got Worlds Collide yesterday. Before giving it a try, I would like to know whether if it's very difficult, or if it's doable even though I am a fairly new player (over 6M sp, crosstrained).
I could either try it in my Typhoon, or use my Drake for more tank.
What do you advise me to do? I can use T2 fittings in my drake, but I can't use T2 tank in my Typhoon since I have my armor skills at IV. I usually fit an AB and kite the mobs in my Typhoon. Though all the low slots can provide an impressive tank even using T1 modules.
I would of course follow all the tips written in eve survival to increase my chances.
Have a nice day, Loles

its a good mission, good bounties if u do both sides, you can use a Zbikoki's Hacker Card and go stright to the last room, the mission can be hard if u get agro from everything make sure u kill the frigs tht scram so you can warp out if u need to,

WC was to me one of the most difficult missions at the start. Usually you get much aggro, your drones get aggro. If you can withstand 10 BS + the rest, you are ok. Kiting will be hard as you get thrown right in the middst of all.
It would be best that you have a compare mission like AE. Get step by step aggro, trigger the next wave etc. you can build up to 8 BS or so. When you have full aggro and no problems you can try it.

Eve-survival.org is your friend, read up the mission there. Let me add that WC is a quite tough mission for a low skilled toon, as above poster said, be careful with trigger management, spoiling that will probably get your shiny ship toasted.

W.C. is amazing if you don't start shooting immediately after warping in.
Let them aggro first and only shoot those ships that shoot you. This way you can pretty much pick them one by one. There is no pocket-wide aggro, so after you finish the first ships that are shooting you, then you can aggro the rest.
I consider it quite an easy mission ( but very long unfortunately ), but you have to use your brain and not your brawn.

Edited by: xXThunder StruckXx on 31/05/2011 15:28:55 After using the gates from the 1st room ( both sides) ensure you do NOT engage the frigates called spies. This iirc, will agro the whole room.
Also, keep an eye out for battleships called .....overseer. these can have rather large bounties and if you are lucky they can drop faction loot.
Good luck.
Edit for typo

Thanks for your replies.
Can you recommend me whether to go in in my drake (less dps, more tank) or in my typhoon (more dps, more drones, less tank)?
Also, should I just skip it and get to it when I get a safer BS like Scorpion Navy Issue, or do I have chances if I'm careful? I plan to clean everything since my purpose is to make money to buy a better ship.

When I first started doing L4s, I used my Drake and succeeded at every one of them, never having to warp out. It helps to have a good rat-specific fit for the mission, read and re-read eve-survival to know what you're getting into, and manage triggers. That last part is perhaps the most important. I run a SNI myself now-a-days (I'm such a care bear)and while the missions go much faster due to more gank, the Drake's tank is just fine.

Drake w/ T2 tank can probably survive Worlds Collide, but you'd be there for a while trying to kill those BS rats.
I suppose you could blitz it pretty fast with a Drake, but that seems wasteful. I usually take my time on that mission to do a full clear...30M+ ISK in bounties alone.

Incoming DPS isn't bad IF you manage aggro right. If you don't, then nearly any level 4 mission ship is going to find itself in trouble.
It's do-able in a Drake. I would think a Phoon would steamroll it.

it might make sense to do it with a drake because with heavy missiles + light drones the figs should go down faster and damn those are some high dps frigs
if you kill the spies with just your launchers they won't aggro the whole room, only if your drones go after them so be sure you set your drones to passive.
but if your phoon's dps is overwhelmingly better I'd probably use that just remember to leave drones on passive, once you aggro the last group can set them to aggressive again

This is probably going to sound crazy, but to the above poster comparing AE to Worlds Collide, I always found AE to be a very easy mission. L4 AE you just have to manage the spawns, approach the gates, fit for the right damage types. Soloing Worlds Collide is more like trying to do the entire Enemies Abound series yourself.
To the OP: Bring friends. Missions are much more fun in a fleet.

I think I'll use my drake to take down the initial frigs and see how much aggro I get when I arrive to each pocket, and then bring my Typhoon when everything seems under control to take down the rest. I bet that soloing everything in my Drake would take longer anyway.

Careful. Read eve-survival.org. There's at least one place in that mission where killing a couple frigs brings aggro of the full room down on you. (Specifically, the ones labeled "Angel".) Managing aggro is key in that mission until you know just how much you can tank.

Watched this thread for a bit, seen some good info and some bad info.
Figure I'll weigh in.
When I get Worlds Collide, I jump for joy. Why? Because it's so easy, and there's TONS of bounty isk to be made.
This mission isn't hard. At all. Read the evesurvival page on it (For your faction obviously) and have fun with it. Just remember to wait a few seconds when you hit the second room. Watch to see what Aggros you, and kill that first. (Do so without drones if possible) After that, pick and choose which group you want to deal with next. Rinse and repeat.
Same with the last room. The number of BS class ships might be scary at first, but sit and relax a second, and see what aggros you. Deal with that first, then move on.
As to the ships: Take the Typhoon. The Drake should be able to tank, but your damage against BS will be terribad. Truthfully, This mission Hardly requires much tank.
(Also, if you're skilled for Typhoon, you might just want to go ahead and step up to a Maelstrom, but that's another topic for another thread.)
Hope it helps, and also, feel free to contact me in-game if you need any help with missions or PVE ship fittings.

For normal running:
Kill your opponents in the first pocket
When you arrive at second pocket keep your drones in. Make sure your drones are set on passive mode. Do NOT shoot at any frigates. Just clear turrets and groups one by one. Your drones are aggro magnets that can really cause trouble. Unleash them after you kill off groups with battleships.
On the third pocket the npc's have proximity aggro...so get a little bit away from gate and take groups off one by one. Your drones might cause un wanted aggro so either keep them in or use sentries to avoid proximity aggro.
To Blitz (I prefer this method): Get Zbikoki hacker card. Hop on a vagabond. Bypass first gate. Spam approach to second gate the moment you land and activate your AB. You'll be out of web range of enemy tackler frigs before they respond....and you'll reach second gat by the time you have aggro. On the third room clear out the initial aggroing group only. Killing that group finishes mission. Grab the loot(or acquire them by other methods from contracts) and you are done. You just managed to get a massive LP within 10 minutes,5 of which you have wasted during gates warping etc.

I agree, Typhoon is very skill intensive. A Maelstrom is great for level 4s.

I mission in my Typhoon. I just enjoy flying it. That being said, you maybe should try the Drake first. Typhoon is rather skill intensive so I'm not sure whether you will have problems. WC is a good mission though, but one of the longer ones. He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

Thanks for all the tips again. Since the mission is so long, I'll try it tomorrow, I didn't have enough time today, and don't wanna fall asleep before it ends.
Regarding the Typhoon, I am a cross trainer (caldari first, amarr later). It offers me versatility (good tank due to many low slots, good DPS since my missile and guns skills are decent), chance to shield tank and to fill the lows with BCU/Gyro/tracking enhancers, ... It may not be the best ship, but it's the best T1 for me (imho).
When I earn some money I'll get a SNI to fly safe, and then I will look into a DPS ship.
But for the time being this is what I've got. I'll post my experience in Worlds Collide when I finish it, and hopefully the info will be useful to someone else in my situation.

Ok, I'm going to post how it goes, so that new people like me can have some extra tips to those posted in eve survival.
Pocket 1:
I stayed at 69km range (my targetting range). At that range just keep your range at 60/50 km and stop your ship. Since the NPCs won't move any further than 30 km from their origin, there's no need to run away.
Don't send drones in, when they reset their position, they will target your drones and blow them.
There is no need for short range weapons in this pocket, all long range. Brings lots of ammo.
I brought my Typhoon shield tanked against Angel (Kin/Exp), with many low slots free to increase dps. I did change to my Apocalypse against sansha (EM/Therm, armor tank), but just for fun. I never repaired in the Angel side, but did need to once in the Sansha side since I fitted a poor tank and NPCs can shoot more distance.
An AB is also advisable since there's some traveling involved, can save you 5/10 minutes.
More later!

Full, clear, that's easily a 40-50M ISK mission - and MUCH more if you get the faction BS to spawn. But, as a new player, the full clear would probably take 3 hours. Really, it's all about room 2. The auto-aggro of 12 ships at about 10km on warp in has cost many a new player their Raven.
Get a friend [preferably Logistics], 2-man it, ???, profit.

As a noob I got an Angel World's Collide final room with warp scrambling elite frigates. Tried to use drones to clear the frigates and that caused full room aggro and lots of holes in my hull.
After that I tended to AB away into clear space to avoid accidental aggro. Eventually I switched to a decent ship and just killed everything from the warp in.
Things to note: In the first room the rats are tethered to their spawn point. If they fly too far from it then they will start returning to it. When they do this they can switch targets to your drones. There's not really a good way to do this with non-sentry drones, although you can fly to within tether range I guess.
In the second room launching drones will often cause proximity aggro or even room aggro if your drones shoot the spies. Put your drones on passive or manage them super carefully. It can help a lot if you AB out into clear space but you'll probably be webbed so this takes ages.

You are right Celia, drone management is key in this mission. In case of doubt, I don't deploy them. An AB is also extremely useful, to get into position before attacking the groups, and to kite should you need/want to.
I just updated my last post with my experience in the second pocket (sansha), hope to finish it off tonight. It's taking me ages as a newby, but I'm having fun, and bounties are awesome!

I wonder, if I don't turn in the mission, will all the ships be back after server downtime? I think I could pay a Scorpion Navy Issue before the mission expires should that work!

Just happened to me yesterday. Started it on Monday night, cleared Serpentis in pocket 1 & 2, then went to bed. When I logged back on last night, everything had respawned.
I think that had to do with the patch, though - because downtime has never respawned mission rats for me in the past.

World collide could be done in a tengu within 6-7 minutes
room 1= use those goddarn zibioki cards from Zor to skip a gate room 2= kill the two spies with CN missiles. blitz straight to the gate. room 3= kill the 5 trigger ships. get out.

But then you're just missing the point of what makes WC such a good mission - all those juicy bounties and a good shot at faction loot.
