No idea what's going on. I opened EVE today, downloaded the patch, thought everything was fine. I started it up, and all of a sudden, my mouse will not move. Huh? I close the program using the keyboard and Tab button (keyboard is fine), only to find my mouse works with everything else. Mouse works with other steam games. Rebooted, tried again, same problem....
What is going on?

Ok, after further investigation, the mouse moves but the cursor will not move with it, so it's impossible to see what you're doing. This has to be related to the Carbon UI.
Can somebody tell me how I might fix this?

Edited by: Direfear on 01/06/2011 03:13:34 Same problem on my Win7 machine- mouse cursor image is stuck, seems to be an invisible cursor (with poor tracking) that can sometimes eventually kinda get through menus. Don't recommend the experience...
- Tried different mice - Everything else works fine, just not Eve - Worked fine yesterday, and nothing else changed but the patch - Mouse works for a few seconds while on the loading screen, but stops when fully loaded - Works in Windowed Mode, but locked in Fullscreen (and windowed mode is ugly!)

My mouse seems to work fine except for the extra buttons 4 & 5. Same story on them working everywhere else, but here's a fun fact: I can use them to set shortcuts, but as soon as I close that window they don't function. (shortcut stays recorded, game just seems to not recognize the input anymore.)
Very strange. So glad I'm not crazy.

Tried 1.6 Patch #2, confirming that the mouse problem is still a problem.
Worst update I've seen in a long time.

Same problem here, I run on a desktop and Laptop both with windows 7 64 bit , Desk top works fine but Lap top has a frozen mouse, works in windowed mode but not in full screen. After Update 1/6.2 I expected it to be addressed but it wasn't . Come on CCP get with the program and tell us you are working on it and realize there is an Issue/ PI is an issue on desktop with graphics glitch but that is another story on Desktop.

Might as well add myself to this stack. This is the EXACT problem I am having. It might have something to do with any 64 bit version of Windows 7, and or the 64 bit version of DX11. That is my guess anyways, and the commonality between us all so far. I wonder if purging the cache will have any effect, or if adjusting any of the mouse options will fix it... really it's only guesswork at this point. I put in a petition myself, if I get an answer, I'll let this thread know.
Any other suggestions are welcome, I'd like to get back to pwning spaceship face.

I get stuck on the loading screen unable to log in. I can't even use the tab key to select the password area. I'm running windows vista, 64 bit.

Same problem- reloaded Eve from scratch, updated video driver, made sure I was on latest directX.
Even though its the mouse thats frozen, this feels more like a video related problem- the mouse still works, just is invisible while the actual cursor stays in one spot and is not "attached" to the actual mouse coords.
When I go to windowed mode, it "works", but I normally run at 1980x1020 resolution- Windowed mode won't let me go higher than 1280x661 when maximized. Thats almost 1/3 my normal video resolution, which I don't consider "fixed".
Basic specs- Win7 64bit, Nvidia 9800 series video, all latest drivers.

^^ this I have Windows & Ultimate 64-Bit, with Nvidia 460GTX videoc card. Resolution at 1980 x 1020, and I have same problem as above. Oddly, my second older computer with GTS 250 running at 1280 x 960 works perfectly fine.

Please CCP, fix the mouse problem. The mouse cursor does not respond properly in the fullscreen mode, since the 1.6 patch. Yes, it works in the window mode, but the resolution defaults to lower resolution that I don't want. Basically unplayable for me atm.

CCP, why have you made no response to this thread nor acknowledged (to my knowledge) that this is even an issue? Clearly, from the replies to this thread, there is a problem.
The issue was not resolved with Patch #2. I will absolutely not accept waiting until June 21st when Incarna comes out for this issue to be resolved. The game is unplayable, and I am actually paying to not be able to play. This makes no sense, what do you suggest we all do?

Finally, found solution for me. If you lower the text size of the windows 7 display to medium or small, it works fine. Found the answer on askjeeves.com

Thanks Seabeast!
Changing the Windows text size to Medium worked perfectly for me- can play in fullscreen mode again, at 1920x1080....
For those that don't remember how to change this: - right click on your windows background area and select Screen Resolution - Select the option towards the bottom labeled "Make Text or other items smaller or larger" - Select small (100%) or medium (125%) - Reboot
Should be able to change Eve back to Fullscreen mode now.

Confirmed, lowering the text size option in win 7 64 bit works for me as well, I can now once again play in fullscreen mode. Thanks goes to Seabeast2 for finding the answer... I had already tried about 34 attempted fixes and never even considered this haha. Refer to Direfear's post just above mine for instructions on how to change your text size if you do not know/remember how.
Still, it's an extremely odd problem, and I am updating my petition so that CCP can see the problem, our fix, and maybe incorporate a true fix to it so we don't have to keep switching out of 150%(Large) size to play Eve. I suggest everyone else does the same so that it brings light upon the issue. |

O, one final thing, during the fix, you do not have to reboot if you do not want to, you can simply log off your current user, and then log back on, this also works if rebooting would be a problem at that moment, also relogging is faster.
Lastly, I updated my petition as well, I put a link in it to this thread, so hopefully they will swagger on over here and take a look at it as well! |

Edited by: Chrome Weasel on 03/06/2011 13:54:44 Edited by: Chrome Weasel on 03/06/2011 13:53:36 Same problem.
Windows 7 64-bit Laptop w/ GTS-250M video card. Reinstalled Eve. Updated driver.
Same problem as everyone else described. Works in windowed mode but will never use a fixed setting so the window is always interpolated and looks crummy.
On a side-note I also get objects ghosting in my overview; I have to close it and re-open it whenever I warp around. The ghosted objects are always faded/not-highlighted but they are there.
Edit - also just FYI my desktop works fine, it's just the laptop (both Win7-64)
Edit 2 - also when I hover over a push-pin in Maps, it won't pop up the name any longer.

Changing the text size in Windows worked for me. Thanks for the fix! Back to fighting those pesky roids.
CCP, thanks for acknowledging the issue? Not like we all pay for this game or anything.
