No, it's just the opposite. It isn't enough work (neither would warping to 15 be). It's so boring it detracts from the game.

Which is why, like mining, you do it in windowed mode. No one starts hauling or mining looking for excitement, anyway.

Oh wow, this fixes everything! Getting the dark screen of doom every time I alt tabbed was getting annoying. When did they add that option?

Autopilot travel is slower, but then the point of AP is to set it and do something else. So why does it being slower matter to you?
One design principle of Eve is to have some risk in everything you do. Want to bring that freighter carrying 10 billion ISK worth of stuff to Jita? Be at the controls and on the lookout for gankers, and use your warp to zero option. Don't care when you get there and are in a cheap ship? AP and go get lunch.

I'd have to go with the few guys saying it should never have became to be, wtz that is. Forcibly removing bookmarks near objects would have made more sense, but I'd have to opt into no bookmarks closer than 115km, since otherwise you'll create bookmark to, for example, 31km.
Plus you'd get rid of bookmark warping around an object, much to annoyance of the ships that are actually faster. ---------------------------------------------------- My views do not represent those of my alliance, corporation or myself. Trully, sometimes I manage to confuse even myself.

Mining is an elective thing. Travelling is not.
Truth be told, I actually enjoy mining. It's relaxing. When it gets dull, I can elect to do something else in game.
Travelling is something we all must do, and I just can't find ways to make staring at the screen so I can press the warp to zero and jump buttons to avoid the tedium of having to wait much longer to travel from point A to point B, exciting or relaxing (in high sec).
Admittedly, travelling through lowsec is more exciting, nullsec is nervewracking to traverse.

You spoiled noobs. There was a time when you couldn't warp to 0, (unless you used your own bm).
To give the sense of distance you got to have the sense of "dead time" . There are however things to do when traveling in potentially hostile space in eve.
Things to do when warping-through low sex and o.o
If you are warping through 0.0 always be aware of bubbles, and make it a habit of warping to the closest celestial to scan your destination (with warp bubbles added to overview).
1. Check local, and get info on the people. Look up their killboard and check fittings and what race they like to fly (omg a hurricane)
2. Spam D-scan, to check what ships are within 14 AU of your moving internet spaceship.
3. Narrow down the angle to 5 degrees and point the crosshair at your destination (to see what **** you about to land in)
4. Bookmark, bookmark, bookmark.
5. Don't speak in local. (the people in local doesn't know what you are doing there so keep them guessing if you are afk or doing something else)

But 'm not talking about potentially hostile space, I'm just whining about 30+ boring jumps in highsec
Hostile space at least has its excitement. Empire travel bores to death.

OMG I miss the days when there was no warp to 0 and my corpmates hadn't taught me insta bookmarks D:
I think we really need to make warp to zero gone again. It was really awesome, I still remember the rush you got jumping to a gate knowing you had to burn to gate.
good old days : (

Yeah, traveling 40j all warping to zero in a freighter will take what? 2 - 3 hours? Certainly forcing the player to be singularly focused on clicking a button every 30s to a couple of minutes for 2 - 3 hours is fascinating and interesting.
People wonder, CCP included, why botting is so rampant in this game. Simply put, it's because people, CCP included again, want to make the game something it should not be. In doing so the game makes botting rampant in those areas because they're needlessly long, boring and devoid of anything approaching fun purely for the sake of doing the task. But, rather, in many cases CCP has made such tasks required in order to acquire isk. The best thing CCP could do to combat botting is to fix things like this with auto warp to zero unless they can somehow remove the tedium of traveling long distances with high value cargo in another fashion. Otherwise, it doesn't so much create a means for some lame jive turkey to get a kill as much as it makes 3rd party EULA breaking programs that will warp you to zero automatically look very attractive.
Gate camps are nothing more than a means to get an easy kill. Nullsec gate camps effectively defeat warp to zero with bubbles, as it should be. So in null even if auto warp to zero were possible you'd be a fool to use it. If auto warp to zero were allowed in hisec, so be it. If the "hisec pvper" wants to make kills then he should move to losec, nullsec, w-space or find another strategy.

Okay, here's an attempt at explaining:
When people realized that 15km approach sucks ass and travel is boring as hell, they started spamming gatrillions of bookmarks that would allow them to warp to zero. The database guys at CCP probably didn't like this.
So they made warp to zero a standard option. Yet, the gamedesign guys probably thought that eliminating the need to be at your puter while travelling would put a pretty big dent in their not so white vest labelled "total game design FAIL". That, because, you know, you kinda do fail if your game makes people leave the puter.
The alternative... putting in a decent travelling system (something like no gates, jump drives on all ships, properly balanced) would shake the very foundations of this game and require major redesign.
So... there you go. The reason why AP doesn't warp to zero is a mix of FAIL and misplaced idealism garnished with just that bit of hurt pride.

Because suicide ganking is a legitimate game mechanic and just reward for your laziness and stupidity if you're AFK autopiloting while carrying enough stuff to be worth the suicide gank.

I don't know if you know this but you can also gank a ship after jumping through a gate when it's trying to get into warp.
True story.

Could you post your freighter fit please?.. It must be one fast and nimble pimped out freighter if you can traverse a system in 30 seconds.

Because you never used to be able to warp to zero, only to 15.. and people made bookmarks that allowed warp to zero.. which was awesome because it gave people with regional knowledge who invested time in knowing their area an advantage over passers through (risk/investment/reward)..
unfortunately the database engine that drove the bookmark system could not handle the millions of BM's, so in their wisdom CCP decided to allow warp to zero on objects, deleted all bookmarks within 20km of a station and gate and resolved the database issue that way
however, they stated at the time that they did not want to make things too easy, as they were nerfing outgate combat and knew it, so they decided to not make the change for autpilot so that some level of 'being there' was still required.
IMO it was the wrong move, and they should have just fixed the bookmark system instead. it made pvp in lowsec and high much more interesting.

Well I would be happy if they speeded up acceleration and deceleration instead (or remove deceleration - in Star Trek or Stragate you just "instastop" after warp, in EVE it takes up 70% of your travel time) - as long as travel didn't take so long! Shoot at me all you will but if I come back after 30 mins afk travelling I want to be either at my destination or ganked - not just 4 jumps further!!
"Extremely boring and tedious" doesn't equal "difficult".

No, traveling is pretty elective. What is the max distance an agent will ask you to travel? Anything above that is elective. On the other hand has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? ________________________________________________

So, you only play missions? That's like 5% of the game.
