I recently got a new headset that I can't get to work with vent. Its the logitech g930 I think. Im thinking of returning then for a different set. Just wondering what people use. And what do they cost? I want something really user friendly. But the have to be good. The logitechs I have where like $160.

I used to use steelseries siberias but the sound quality for music and stuff was not great so I splashed on some sennheiser HD650s (ú260/$500?) and used the clip-on mic from the siberias. They are sublime.

The idea of spending $200 to listen to someone's crappy microphone audio on a 32Khz codec makes my head hurt. You have more money than sense.

It's really more for general gaming than just listening to teamspeak. Since they're open, the soundstaging is much better, and the mic is a nice touch. Sometimes I'm playing single player games and still talking to buddies on skype or vent or what not.

I've been using a Turtle Beach HPA set for 5 years now. It's overkill for Ventrilo/TS but if you listen to music in the background, or play any games that make use of surround sound, it's amazing.
Very sturdy too.

And since you are obviously someone who doesn't think its "worth" it
Is it worth your scout having a good mic? If you can't hear him/her properly then you could lose alot of ships
Is your FC worth having a good mic so you can coordinate properly - Not worth it you say
And most importantly - if you serve any/both these roles - then who the hell will listen to YOU
Or are YOU responsible losing AAA all that territory because of your slap-dash attitude

Great audio quality, good craftsmanship (won't break easy if it falls), comfortable and best of all fairly cheap considering it also contains a 1 year warranty should something happen.

I use this at home, and this when travelling. I don't pvp when travelling (unreliable hotel connections ftl ) but the headset is useful on a plane for watching a movie that I want to watch, or if I'm travelling with my wife it lets me listen to game audio without bothering her late at night.
Both work fine with Ventrilo and TeamSpeak.

I use a G930 with TS2, works like a charm. Excellent with the G-keys I can map to PTT (in case I wanna move around at home and chat at the same time). To OP: What isn't working with your headset and vent?

I use some Plantronics headset. It's rather nice. It used to be my dad's, but he doesn't use them as often as I do, so he let me have it. Dunno how much it cost. I had a ~100+ dollar logitech wireless one, but it died after a few months. One of the few times I've seen a Logitech outperformed.

Edited by: Maya Rkell on 04/06/2011 17:41:53 Koss SB-40. Shame they're not made any more, but they're basically awesome. (Do /not/ get the SB-45's)
They rest *around* the ears, and they're comfortable to use with glasses. The microphone is fine, I use it for Skype all the time. Yes, the ú200 headsets have better microphones, but I can't realistically afford those. //Maya |
