Just tried it out on the test server. Unchecking "Load Station Environment" stops the captains quarters from loading. Leaving it permanently on the loading screen with everything else working.
Now if only there was a way to get access to your cargo hold as easily as before. IE double clicking anywhere.
and further more why do i even need a sig? |

This. I can "probably" live with watching a useless image instead the ships I pay to fly but having to live with worse usability is very lame. Need double click for cargo and drag ship outside ship window to make them active.
And please make Incarna better than this CCP, spaceships and avatars deserve to blend more seamlessly ie, first: "dock" with hangar view like now and second: "exit pod button". Just because I don't want to load incarna EVERY TIME I DOCK doesn't mean I want to use it from time to time.

What's that sound ? Oh, just angels preparing to start singing.

Or, you know, maybe not remove the current station files and loading them instead (in another default disabled checkbox) ?

Are you sure that it wasn't always going to be optional. Because it seems like the type of thing which would be.

In all honesty, I think indeed it was. Currently there's a 'Load Station environment' checkbox too; it stands to reason there would be one for Incarna too (much as that saddens me). --

Edited by: Zaara Arran on 05/06/2011 03:33:57 "Load Station Environment" was here before CQ anyways. It had the effect of disabling station spinning by locking your screen and giving you a freeze frame of the current render. So.. your ship is there, but it isn't moving or blinking or anything. It's like you have 0 FPS. Of course, you still have full UI use.
Anyways, this isn't new for CQ, and it isn't their answer to your calls and whines. In fact, they probably never cared in the first place. They're just preserving the functionality of an already existing settings option.

Actually it is new for CQ, the 'Load station environment' option was missing from all builds of CQ released in testing until today.

Because a permanent loading screen is better than temporary loading screen with a fully functional UI.
The hardcore RPing whiners can finally be at rest, knowing that the "unrealistic CQ" is replaced with fully immersive "LOADING" text.

Except that checkbox had been removed. That's exactly why a lot of people complained. --- I don't know! I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again! Bart Simpson. |

SOME people waited years for Incarna. OTHER people don't give a rat's ass about Incarna. And further people like the idea of Incarna, but only when they WANT to access it, especially since in its current form it can't be configured with different graphics detail settings from the game itself (game which a lot keep at maximum detail level) and also taxes most non-wallet-breaking graphics card to near-maximum even on the lowest graphics settings. _

My joy is overly. unfortunately sisi is down and dudu is stuck in a reboot cycle so I can't confirm. My joy would go from overly to dangerously overly.
/me likes it when CCP actually listens, rare as it sometimes may seem. (had to include something cynical in my post. It's what I do.)

I waited for years for CCP to give up the idea. Sadly this never happened. At least now I'm not forced into using it.

I think it's only a first iteration of the option, they still have time to improve on it -----------------

This.
Now they just need to give an option of what we have now, or CQ. How hard could it be?

I thank CCP. But this doesn't solve the immersion issue, and "pretend your character didn't decant" is still not a valid workaround. |

I'm making the worlds smallest trophy for you.
Does that mean you also will not be able to access the AURUM store in the station? *g*

Good, But hopefully it'll prevent them from Using/accessorizing with Aurum purchases. that'll mean less tragic looking fashion disasters in the universe dragging the rest of us down. As for me I'm looking forward to finally stretching some legs and looking at something besides a ship constantly. Of course the new micro-transactions will allow me to look absolutely fabulous and gorgeously accessorized while doing it. The new CQ environment looks interesting and hopefully will be integrated well with the rest of eve.
For your safety please leave the fashion to the gorgeous and stay in your pod with your silhouette.

I don't know about everyone else, but for me the UI is unresponsive until CQ is fully loaded.

This is just a first release appeasement.
After a few patches, you will find this "optional" component will no longer be "optional".

Same here.
Thank God this option now exists.
Now if CCP can be REALLY intelligent and add the ship spinning hanger as standard when you dock rather than CQ, with a button to enter CQ then the whole thing works in terms of immersion and player usability.
