as above^ , what are the consequences of pod killing in low and null sec opposed to killing in .5 and over?

The consequences for the person whose pod is destroyed in 0.0 is that they will lose any implants, be required to buy a new medical clone, and, if their former medical clone had insufficient capacity, they will lose some SP as well.
The consequences for the attacker are (unless they use lasers/drones) the cost of ammo expended. It also generally takes a bit of time as well.
All kills/losses are forever recorded in your character sheet's combat log.
Of course, there may be political ramifications - the person you just killed might hire another group of players to come attack your space, for example, but that could just as well happen for any number of other reasons. --- ISD IonCharge Lt. Commander ISD STAR |

In low sec you lose sec status, and quite a bit of it. In 0.0, absolutely nothing (other than the factual stuff stated above). What you gain is a kill, a very angry target (possibly combined with hatemail, which is always good) and the hope that he had expensive implants.

If you kill a pod you clear some cluter off your screen and also deny your oponents a warp in point. The pilot you kill is most times going to land some jumps away thus taking time to get back to the fight!
Generally it's all good

boah, im lucky to read this. read many articles about clones and jump clones but it never jumped me that you have to renew the clone contract when you die... oh dear oh dear, lucky i never died...
now that i think of it i sank my first 12 millions in a 71 mill SP clone... and that with my 600k SP, haha, i thought: well, that's the best investment for your isk as new character because the clone is here to stay... oh man oO

Popping a pod when you're almost certain the offending pilot had a HG Slave set?
Golden. Absolutely golden. Consequences be damned :D -------
