I have some more questions though: 1) can we sell our spare AUR on the market? 2) can we turn 3500 AUR into 1 PLEX again?

Where did they state the exchange rate?
I already asked those,
1) No but you can trade it between toon wallets, hence scam :) 2) No, its a one way wonka golden ticket sink, hence thin out the market and plex rise.

I'm pretty sure that plex to aurum is one directional. HOWEVER, aurum can be converted to ISK and isk can be used to buy plex.
so AUR ≠ PLEX directly.
AUR = ISK ISK = PLEX Plex = AUR or ISK

I am not 100% sure on the answer to question 1, however, I will try and get you an answer to this on Monday.
As for question 2, the conversion process only happens for PLEX to Aurum so it can only be converted one way.

Which makes sense as the whole idea of Aurum is to generate another PLEX sink.

Rather I would say that it makes sense as the whole idea of Aurums is that people using vanity items pays for the development of them.
That is, if sbdy. wants vanity items, she must pay CCP for developing them, which is achieved via the only way to give your money to CCP:
GTC-> PLEX-> Aurum-> vanity items.
At the end of the day, CCP gets 15$ for developing vanity items rather than running the server & developing expansions & stuff that CCP does with subscription money. And they know how much worth it is to develop V.I. by how many Aurums are consumed and how many PLEXes are reimbursed for Aurums.

You could even say "make this model jacket for us, it looks like existing item X" which wil say take 2 hours of developing so that's 2 or 3 plex. Would be neat.
Of course it doesn't work that way. CCP also has to finance their other projects, I bet they don't have seperate wallets for each game.

There's like a 99% chance that Aurum will also be used for the micro-transactions in ~Dust~; so it's quite unlikely that they'd want to allow them to be converted to PLEX.
But hey, I guess you'll be able to sell that ballgag for a shiny new weapon upgrade :V

You have to admit, since the whole process also allows the common player who lacks RL funds to pay for vanity items with ISK if they so chose (at the going market rate) and affords yet another level of control, it's a fairly elegant mechanism. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

The reason why I asked this is because it's very likely that a part of the playerbase that buys vanity stuff will have a lot of "change" AUR left. If you can't trade it or do other things with it, it's a bit of a waste.

You mean the "price target" of 1 AUR approx. = 0.005 USD ? You know, like the "price target" of a GTC is roughly 35 USD... Oh, you meant an ISK price target ? May I sell you some tinfoil hats ? Cheap. Only 1 bil ISK a piece. It's a bargain ! _

Ok, just to clarify on question one. It will not be possible to trade Aurum on the market. There is no physical object for Aurum (or ISK.) meaning that you can only sell items on the market that are a physical items.

Can trade AURUM in the trade window or is it just like give money, give AURUM, between toons?
I was told we can move AURUM between toons, what is the mechnisms allowed for that movement?

I believe some CCP said a while ago that it will be possible to trade AUR using contracts, is this still the case?
If not, do you realize that people will still trade it through trusted third parties (EULA-legal or otherwise), and you are just creating an unnecessary nuissance? ---

At 3,500 Aurum/plex and 6,600 Aurum to buy my character 1 shirt and 1 pant I will be spending the equivalent of a fully fitted and rigged t3 cruiser for an outfit? (705,257,143 isk equivalent). That seems slightly higher than the standard retail mark-up. That doesn't say "I'm richer than you" that says "I'm more ******ed than you".
