Edited by: Kogh Ayon on 05/06/2011 13:11:44 What prevents people from missioning together
From the recent changes on rat's EW (Especially for guristas), I feel the CCP is putting some effort in making people missioning in fleet. But as some facts prevented fleet missioning natually being formed are still there, the effort like enhance rats may just make people not happy.
There are something on design making fleet missioning "Labor sensitive" or very time consuming if people want to share the reward fairly.
1. Story line mission: Only one person in the fleet would get a storyline which rewards rich standing and a 20M implant or something worth 300m now (Mining foreman ect.) To make it fair, people in fleet need to accept/complete missions by person in sequence. For example if we have three people in fleet then we need to do missions under a sequence like A->B->C->A.
It could be solved by that everyone accept one mission(or more) and undock, kill all the missions for everyone in fleet, then dock->complete missions-> start again.
2. Fleet warping
Onething problematic here is that people in fleet need to wait the guy who would arrive the mission space and says "OK/I'm in mission now/warp to me", It's painful to wait for a battleship to get warped off and arrive somewhere maybe dozens AUs away. If they want to use the "Fleet Warp" feature, they will have to change fleet commander everytime they warp to a new mission.
One setting allows everyone in fleet to do fleet warp will have it solved, maybe.
3. Bounty/LP/Reward sharing
It's always people have some little buddies in your corp asking for some mission loots, but if you simply fleet them then they will share your bounty prizes, if you don't fleet them they will not be able to get where you are. Maybe fleet the noob first then kick him is a solution but wouldn't you feel that it is rediculous? Not a good feature anyway.
Also when we have more than one people doing mission in a fleet, it is very difficult to handle the salvage alt or you may probably need to kick the alt everytime you are going to complete a mission. And invite him again and again!
Not mention if people (who is in a golem) would feel happy to share rewards with a noob drake half-to-half.
It would be nice if people could set the mission/bounty sharing ratio.
4. Loots&Salvages
Loots and Salvages take a fair weight in missions, especially when the mission drops some special loots (tags, implants). These loots are usually too cheap to be calculated thorouthly but too expensive if you just left them to other people.
Making loots&salvages much less value (in many cases now it is not you know) than starting a new mission would probably really makes salvaging a professional for new players.
Had a one-hour thinking I come up with these @$@%@#$

Incursions is corp missioning. If you dont have 10 men and 3 logistics you can't do it.

Well I'm afraid that CCP doesn't want a lot of group missions in EVE. There's a few things that are better done in teams (DED complexes, L5 unscannable, C3+ WHs) but generally it's all single player stuff.
I agree it's a bit of a pity as teaming up is a great way to get to know people and learn to do teamwork. It also lets you make friends a lot easier. Also facing challenges as a team and overcome them is one of the most rewarding things in games (and not only in games) imo.

Quote: Why CCP loves Guristas?What
At a guess, I think ccp loves the whole of eve..bad guys and good guys. If you've ever worked hard to flesh out a villian or an antagonistic group in a D&D session you were DMing, or played a villian on stage in a play, you might understand. Of course, CCP love Gurista...and all of the other factions too; they own them all.

DED is not a stable income source it making no sense to consider it as a sort of "missioning"
L5, WHs are too difficult for most new players, group missioning should not only belong to tengus
Incursion requires a fair large fleet to do, and very sensitive to logistic pilots, whereas the healing role in EVE is quite boring.

Indeed. Its just a shame that there's a massive difficulty gap between the "soloable in a Battlecruiser" scout sites and the " recommended 8 Battlecruisers and 2 Tech II logistics ships" vanguard sites.

That and the Vanguards are funky once you get in to them. Nation commander & Nation Mining are pretty damn easy. Transfer Arrays? The hell. It's a massive uptick in incomming DPS, sure 3 logi's can grunt through it (and the random WTFBBQ dps insanity shifting is fun for logi's) but the other two are a snooze-fest for the Guardian/Basilisk pilots.
Perhaps it should go on a... well... a gear score or some such to figure out rewards rather than number of people. So 15 nubs in T1 = 10 regulars in T2 = 7 high rollers in faction insanity sort of thing.
V. V. nice first iteration though.

Make EVE one-client-at-a-time, and boom, teaming up for missions is here. Never gonna happen though, botters and old***s will whine too much.

I'm not exactly an 'old***' nor am I a botter... why does only being able to run one account on a computer mean people will have to team up? I currently only run one account at a time and I can solo L4's quite happily with less than 6mil SP.
If you want to force people to team up for missions the content needs to be designed as such (i.e. incursions), currently missions are not and no amount of additional bolt-on goodies (i.e. salvage) will change the underlying solo-able nature.
The other problem is that missions were designed back when the game was released, nobody at CCP all those years ago expected a single player to be able to weild THAT much firepower on their own.

Since you can't share missions and there's no need to cooperate anyway it's just tedious and inefficient to mission together.
Originally by: Jefferson H Clay The other problem is that missions were designed back when the game was released, nobody at CCP all those years ago expected a single player to be able to weild THAT much firepower on their own.
I can't imagine. If a t1 battleship with t1 turrets and t1 hardeners and repairs can run a L4 they must have known that.

The thing is that the coop missions (L5) are in lowsec and hardly anyone would be so stupid to risk an expensive mission ship for that. It would have been a perfect way to make people mission together but alas ... CCP rather has a handful unprobable T3 ships solo it.
