Edited by: Pwnership on 07/06/2011 11:54:15 Pay CCP some kind of fee, i.e. $20.00, I dunno something around there, I'm sure people would pay. All to let you remap all skill points spent. I'm sure its been brought up, but was just curious what peoples opinions would be. This would help noobs who are just figuring out they screwed up their first 6 million SP.
Another option would be to do something like how they do attribute remaps, but you only get 2 chances before you hit 50mil SP. After you hit 50mil it probably wouldn't be needed.
Just a thought.
Opinions, discussions, different ideas along the same lines? No flamers please, thats just not nice.

How about a plex takes off 2 months from the remap timer, only redeemable once per remap cooldown?
Wait, what am I saying. I pay for two accounts with isk. :)

You never want people to have the option to buy skillpoints. Some people just have way more RL income than others. It would ruin the game.
Buying a remap is damn near the same thing. It would flood the market with perfectly skilled toons.

This topic has been brought up in the past and rejected every time. Just to name a few.
Eve is supposed to be the game where your choices matter. You chose to train those skills and they were something you wanted at that point. You could have asked about the skills and the practicability of them on help channel, corp channel and forums or used the wiki or google to find out more if you were unsure.
The skill system does not have a level cap either so those skill points you think you have wasted can come handy later on. So for example if you were training industry in the beginning of your career and found out that pvp was more fun the industry skills could still be of very much use in distant 0.0 or wh. For the broken stuff, they will get eventually fixed.
Remapping is exploitable too. Create an alt, set it to int/mem, train for year, reallocate to whatever. You gained more SP than you should normally.
Why only 2 chances? How long does it take to hear "why can't we have 3 reallocations" whines? Eventally you get remaps at will, which is very bad as you are supposed to specialize in this game. Hi, FOTM.
Which brings us to microtransactions. This would have serious consequences for the game balance. If you remember the thread following the plexes for remap, turned out that majority (79%) of the players do not support this kind of option.
TL;DR:
Removes variety, gives advantage to those willing to pay more, exploitable, goes against the "your choices matter" CCP talks about.

This is a classic example of Malcanis' Law; a proposal is being framed as "help the noobs" when it is blatantly a "help the veterans" scheme.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

It's not about buying skillpoints, it's getting all your SP reimbursed and spending them again on different skills.
And buying SP: character bazaar? Some people just have way more RL income than others. It would ruin the game.
No wait ...

Yea, I guess that as a min/max addict I'll never get myself to train those leadership skills at sub-optimum speed. Only thing I hope is that we get an extra remap one day when they're adding new skills or changing things like they did with the social skills or removal of learning skills.

I think it would be nice if we could redeem a skill for 50% of the skillpoints back. This still carries a penalty, you lose half the time you trained the skill, but you get the SP back to put it into what you want.
You couldn't game this to say, train a skill in Int / Mem and then redeem it for a Per / Will skill and come out ahead. If 50% is too much, then CCP could lower it to say, 25%.
