(INTAKI PRIME 6/8/113) In a surprising move, the normally pacifist Intaki Prosperity Initiative has declared war against mercenary corp Risen Angels.
IPI President Saxon Hawke, leader of the Intaki separatist Intaki Liberation Front, said the war declaration was made in response to Risen Angels recent aggression against Federal Robotics.
ôFederal Robotics in general, and its CEO Lilen enDama in particular, have proven in a short time to be dedicated trading partners for the IPIÆs Intaki Trade Hub,ö Hawke said. ôThis blatant act of terrorism goes well beyond the simple piracy we normally face in Viriette and we cannot in good conscience allow Federal Robotics to stand alone against this threat.ö
Nikita Alterana, Risen Angels leader, has been publicly coy as to her groupÆs involvement in a fatal bombing last week at a Federal Robotics office in Aunsou, but has confirmed that she and her pilots are under contract to act against the drone manufacturer.
ôIts purely business. We were paid a significant sum of isk to interrupt their operations. I have even offered to Ms. en Dama to drop the dec, provided that the isk we would be losing out on by abandoning the war was paid to us,ö Alterana said. ôI have no harsh feelings or hatred towards any members of FEDRO, and this operation is purely financial.ö
Hawke, who is not normally known for endorsing violence, said it was his hope that the war could be resolved without a shot fired by either side.
ôIt is my most sincere wish that no further lives be lost in bringing an end to this situation,ö he said. ôIf Risen Angels war is truly motivated by finances, surely Ms. Alterana can see that the IPI is in a position to greatly disrupt her ability to do business. We have significantly greater resources and are more than willing to bring them fully to bear to protect those who would do legitimate business in Intaki Space.ö
Hawke said IPI would immediately stand down one Risen Angels has retracted its war against Federal Robotics.

Well, since RIA hasn't been hunting anything for some time, I doubt that ms Jenneth. IPI might find itself counterdecced by a few others though, while RIA is in hiding.

If that's the case, can you explain the point of this wardec? I'm genuinely curious; it's hard to obstruct much of anything while docked up.

I think there's something in the IGS contract that requires a certain amount of ego strokage.
Unless Katashi is still upset about something... I dunno... personal...

I'm certain my advice will go unheeded, but since it takes only a mote of fluid router space to submit it...
The Cartel is not a beast I'd advise agitating. They're reasonable and typically open to negotiation, however, if you speak the right language.

Ah, the beautiful and deadly Angel Princess Shin. It's been a while. I've been looking forwards to meeting you again. You didn't disappoint.
Nothin' is personal these days, I've found. The Guristas taught me well in that regard and you helped as well, for which I'm grateful. I hope we'll get to have some more fun and maybe a footrub afterwards, hmm? I'll be keeping an eye out for you, Princess.

The way you worded your reply makes it sound like you'd expect to be the one asking for monetary compensation. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume to know what you meant.
And, really, it would be the IPI who would need to come up with the payment, unless one of their supporters was generous enough to pay in their stead.

I'm a little conflicted I most confess. Shintoko has always been one of my personal inspirations in New Eden and can be considered one of the original Free Captains of Jericho who flew beside me against our earliest targets when we were outnumbered and outgunned but never lacking for courage or pure revolutionary spirit.
I would find it extremely difficlt to fire on Shintoko regardless of her affiliation or politics.
But Risen Angels and Nikita Alterena? I find it difficult to imagine a stranger association than the heroic soloist guerilla and the galnet personality renowned mainly for ... well, self-publicity I think we could most kindly term it.
Fortunate perhaps that Risen Angels has yet to commit aggression against the vessels and interests of the Star Fraction and maintain a neutral status in our eyes.
Perhaps it might be wise to consider the motivations of a mercenary entity though. If Risen Angels have taken a contract in this matter then one might profitably inquire as to the identity of the paymaster. A little intelligence work might reveal a far more satisfying target to strike behind the hired guns of professional killers.

I think it might be more interesting to work out whom exactly would dislike FEDRO enough to want to hire mercenaries to impede their operations.
Declaring war back at them to attempt to help a friend is admirable, but given how the opening salvo of this conflict was launched, might not have as much of an impact as you might think... ----

If Mr. Hawke really wants this resolved without combat, why not cough up the ISK that is being asked of Federal Robotics and pay on their behalf? Risen Angels can drop the wardec, IPI can drop the wardec, Federal Robotics goes on with its business and everyone is happy. Would even call it win-win-win.
To be frank, declaring war on Risen Angels as a reaction was a waste of ISK to begin with as that could have gone towards the sum that is demanded. But what's done is done, alas.

It is almost always better to use "ransom fees" to plan revenge rather than paying the aggressor. The CEO of Federal Robotics might do well to approach individual Risen Angel's pilots to find out their price for betraying their own organization. They are mercenaries after all and sometimes offering an individual a bigger slice of the pie than they expect from the wage packet brings great advantage.

Well, it's not so much of a demand or request, as it is a declaration of intent. They've been paid to cause a certain ammount of harm by some third party, whose motivations they'd like to keep private.
Not much to negotiate on beyond the somewhat-standard contractual 'Buy Us Out' clause. ----

I made a promise to my employer to be silent when you people showed your faces again, but perhaps he will forgive my weakness.
Considering you've proven yourselves to be traitors of your own State, disloyal to your allies, worthless in a fight, and capable of the kind of bald arrogance I would typically associate with a mythic Amarrian noble, I think it's time you hold your damn tongue.
