I would like to share my experience with all the other newbies so they dont make the same mistake i did. I started playing this game approx 6 months ago and it was fun. High Sec was my friend first starting out and mission running/ rating was a great experience then I made my mistake. Yes you guessed it I joined a corporation "Valor".
I did my homework on what to expect from a corp and what you will need once you join one. So I dowloaded TS and evemon (which evemon you really should have it helps). I joined the website forums and started to participate in roams. It was great there was a great group of people and they were all fun to play with. They could get serious at times and still joke around at times those crazy russians. Everything was great out in null sec with the sea of blues and plenty of fights.
I wish my story eneded there but it doesnt. Well as with every corporation mangement decided to cut ties with the alliance they were in (I have no idea why not my place to know anyways lol) and move the corp to a completely different system. At first I was alittle weary about this move. I was being recruited by the members who were staying in the alliance to join there corp and stay in the area because (as I learned) this move was going to be FUBAR.
I should have listned to them (another noob mistake). After spending quite alot of isk having my crap moved a few times through contracts something quite unexpected and eye opening happened. Somebody in the corp with a new character decided since the corp was moving and putting all this stuff up on contract to move that they would just steal the crap and leave corp. I feel for those corp mates that had alot of stuff stolen including BPO's and ships and what have you. After that some corp members left pretty well ****ed off and all mangement had to say was sorry.
Valor then joined Nulsec Alliance which seemed to me a hard corp on the edge elite alliance which is great if your a hardcore veteran and not a noob trying to make bank for a BS. No big deal RL issues came into hand and I had to take a break for awhile still logging on atleast once a week to check mails and sell orders. Then came the TAX rate of 50% hmmmmm sounds fishy but if they are running big ops i can understand it and me being a broke noob really cant afford a rate like that so the RL break worked out.
Fast forward 2 weeks later TAX rate drops to 25% now heres my BIG Mistake LOL I logged onto the valor forum and proceeded to post that im coming back to the game now that the tax rate has lowered and I am actually sitting on a nice fat isk wallet ready to do some roams. BOOM booted out of corp no emails no reason why I just assume is was becuase I complained about the tax rate. Now I read the Valor code of conduct and there is nothing in there that says if you complain about the tax rate you will be kicked from the corp.
Finally the people I romed with from valor my hats off to you I have nothing but respect for you and please dont kill me when I am sneaking through to get my stuff in your system lol. To the others GF yourself because in my book its open season on you. I may a noob but I do enjoy playing this game.
So all you noobs be careful what corp you join you could end up all over hells creation then left alone with all your crap scattered in the wind. Fly Safe 420 forever

It indeed is good advice to not become a freeloader with hurt feelings. 22:29:48 Notify Capital Armor Repairer I is too big to be fitted on Apocalypse Imperial Issue |

Freeloader? LOL well I can honestly say I never once recieved isk or ships from the corp. I paid for everything and recieved nothing. So if your calling me a freeloader then you are absolutely wrong. I have and will always finance my own endeavors.

Tax rates jump during war, moves and deployment. Valor currently has a 10% tax rate. If you can't handle paying your dues then you didn't deserve to be a member in the first place. Welcome to EVE.

You were most likly booted because you made it sound like you stoped playing that week because of the taxes. from the sounds of it your post was was probably harmless but was seen by one of the directors as somthing like "now that the rest of you are done working hard to support the corps defence fleets while I avoided doing my fair share I'm ready to start leaching off the corp again". While you may not intend to yyou end up looking like a leach and leaches have to be removed before the suck the life out of your operation.
As far as the taxes I'm all for a 100% tax during call to arms fleets to encourage people to stop missiong and join the war effort. However a connstant 50% tax is quite high imo.

I think your right. I was in no way freeloading. But what strikes me as funny is there wasnt even an email "Hey that post was inapproiate you have been removed from the corp." Would have been alittle more professional. As I just typed that I realized this is only game and to expect a profesional notification from a corporation is really pushing it LOL. I could really care less if I am percieved as a freeloader on this game even though im not. I will just sit on my dock down here in pig pine key while I roll one and ponder if I want to continue to play this game LOL. Oh World of Tanks is too much fun BTW.

Just look for another corp. Plenty of good corps in EVE.
If they just kicked you withouth an explanation they don't deserve you in the corp. All the corps I've been in had 1 very important rule: Real life comes first. After all it's just a game and you need to play it to have fun.
What do your old corpmates have to say about you being kicked? Did you contact them?

A couple of points here ...
It sounds like before Romestar disappeared the last thing heard from him was a post whining about the tax rate on corp forums ... move forward in time tax rate changes - and he posts about coming back (bad taste/timing there if it was real life keeping him out of the game). Did Romestar at any point before he disappeared - say anything to leadership indicating RL was kicking in?
Second - if you are in 0.0 space in a corp - you are not doing anything alone - you are using corp space/alliance facilities are used (stations, anomalies, rats, ore, plexes, jump bridges, blue lists, pos). Even if Romestar's isk was generated by market trading, unless Romestar doing it in empire - corp/alliance resources were still being used (blue's buying the goods, jump bridges to get items down, etc).
Third - with the change to contracts several months ago - NEVER put a corp contract up with anything more valuable then the collateral - anyone in the corp can accept it (previously you had to had special roles to do it so it was safer). If you are moving/evaccing stuff- find out who the trusted personnel are - talk to them (in/out of game) ahead of time and put the contract up directly. While you can see who takes a corp contract - there is really no controls to get anything back.
Fourth - most corps in the middle of a war or any other type of nasty diplomatic issues - are not going to babysit a member - especially one that's seen as not helping out and has been actively complaining. The leadership will more then likely be focused on the folks that are contributing and helping, anyone else it's more - don't let the door hit you on the way out. They have too many other things to worry about then someone that is whining. (And yes I think complaining about tax rate, in the middle of a 0.0 war is whining. Empire may be a different story as your assets are safe regardless if you decide to wait the war out).
On having stuff scattered across 0.0 - that's just a life lesson. O.O is not empire - you can't actually depend on the station you use today being accessable in 2 weeks - you can however have a jc in place and slowly sell the items off at a decent price. If belongings are left in multiple systems, it's a bit harder.

Um. No.
A freeloader is someone who relies on others for their well being. There is this thing called a dictionary. They are pretty easy to use. Try it some time.

Yeah- pretty much. And for God sake's OP- if you are trying to make valid points, stop inserting 'LOL' into every other sentence. You lose credibility and it makes you sound like a child. -----------------

Actually since the post I have had quite a bit of old corp mates emailing me so much so I havent had time to respond to them all. I wont discuss what had been writen in those emails because that is private. Lets just say many former corp mates concur with my situation in regards to the leadership at Valor. On a side note all those who emailed me with offers to join there corp I am currently reviewing all of them and doing my homework and should make a choice later this week.

Aye - more truth. It should be a lesson for the OP. In one of my null corps we routinely raised taxes to 100% during ops. To make people join or logg off to not make the corp look bad. People logging off every 100% were in trouble (not saying you ...).

I would like to point out 2 things:
1) corp mates that pillage their own corp, I do not thing after this the corp itself has much of credibility, instead of helping to move....
2) 0.0 ally/corps usually tend to agree to a high tax sometimes even additional or fixed contributions from a corp and/or player, to pay for infrastructure, ship replacement program or for the cap fleet.

Item 1 happened to me once. The corp's credibility was also affected by their promise to reimburse people for what they lost. Needless to say, that never happened. I don't think it is a good idea for a corp to make promises and then break them. If they hadn't said they would reimburse, it would have been ok with me.
For Item 2, I've got an issue with the SRP and cap fleet as money sinks for corp members. I think I have a fairly good understanding of the reasoning behind these giveaways, but that doesn't make them seem any less than an unnecessary expense for the working man.
IMHO, if you don't have to work to pay for your ships, it seems like people treat them like Kleenex. The SRP tends to enable this. What I would like to see is people buying their own ships, and, realizing what goes into getting one, take care of them. Accidents do happen, and Eve is hazardous, but still . . .
Even more so for cap ships. If a player has the skills, but can't afford his own, he really isn't ready for one, is he? If someone loses one due to and act of Phred, or something like that, fine. Help him out. Avoidable losses shouldn't be encouraged, though.
Getting back to the theme of the thread, I'm a mining director for a corp that is 99% mining. It's difficult for me to understand how we end up with so many applicants who say they will do 'anything' to help out the corp, even 'die' for it, but don't want to mine.
What's up with that? It isn't like it's a surprise that they will be asked to mine. We only take new people, so we expect there to be some who don't know whether they want to be a miner or not, and the first operation convinces them one way or the other, but the ones who decide they don't want to be miners after the 2nd or 3rd op, and then want you to find something more to their liking within the corp, bother me. Our mining ops are pretty much the same. If you don't like the first one, there's very little chance that you will like the second.
I try to help out applicants except for the ones who turn pirate after joining, break the rules, don't contribute, only log in once, want to 'do their own thing', etc. Unfortunately, that seems to be all of them. We've had about 12 applicants and only one has made it through probation without being fired.
Recruiting is tough, but living with what you recruit can be tougher, so we don't accept applications any more. The above is for the people who wonder why.

Yes, ask around
Most Corps will interview you, and promise stuff
It is up to you to make a choice, sometimes you are lucky, sometimes not. You can leave any corp anytime (after 24hrs from rejecting roles)
Don`t expect too much free stuff from a Corp, be realistic Most Corps will help you, if they don`t, leave them (if you think Corp tax is excessive, quit the Corp [<10%tax for example] )
Proper Corps will interview you first, before a decision is made..
