but seriously why are microsoft/xbox whineboi players so goddamn whiney! i have never in my life run across a more pathetic group of gamers in my life. this solidifies my utter hatred for the xbox360, it's PAID network, and now practically anyone who plays the console.
i am SO glad we won't have this pathetic, whiney, childish playerbase messing with OUR game world. thank you, CCP, for choosing SONY's console for your console game.
and before i hear about "waaaaaaaah! SONY's network got hacked! waaaaaah!" i'll just say two things:
1) you're at fault for putting your own personal information on the interweb. don't be so surprised that it was stolen. 2) microsoft has sold your personal information ten times over. personally, i trust the PSN hackers more than anyone working for MS to have my information. also, i bet you, no... i don't even have to bet because i KNOW it's true. MS either had a direct hand in hacking PSN or has paid someone to do it. period.
so keep the tears flowing, people. it's more entertaining this way.
SONY ftw. they have a MUCH more capable console anyhow.

Wonder how many times I'll have to repeat this before it gets through some thick heads. But anyway, repetita iuvant.
1: Dust was never supposed to be on PC, it's always been publicized as a console game.
2: the fact that the PSN has been hacked doesn't mean that the PSN is less secure than any other online environment. Online networks are hacked every day, even networks that include much more sensible data than the PSN. Hell, even Xbox Live gets hacked from time to time, involving the accounts of major Microsoft executives. There's no ironclad network on the planet. As long as it's connected to the internet, all you can do is to protect it as much as you can, but if you get the attention of a hacker or a group of hackers that are determined and knowledgeable enough, there's a high chance that they'll get in, no matter what you do.
3: What prevented Dust to be on Xbox 360 is not some weird unilateral decision from CCP, nor them "selling out" to the evil devil Sony (mind you, between Sony and Microsoft, the second is quite more well known for buying exclusives). The cause is to be found in Xbox Live's policies and structure:
a) The network's structure is closed. Everything is handled by microsoft or through microsoft. b) No cross-platform play is allowed. it was intialy considered (and experimented upon with Final Fantasy XI, for instance), but then the idea was scrapped and no further instances have been allowed. c) All billing and patching is handled by microsoft or trough microsoft. d) No Game Currency outside of microsoft points is allowed on Xbox Live.
3: If you believe that CCP didn't try to bring Dust to the 360 you're entirely delusional. They most probably tried, entering talks with microsoft to try and get an accomodation in order to make the cross-platform structure of Dust work with Xbox Live, and Microsoft, as usual, didn't budge of an inch, making the project impossible. They didn't budge for Valve (causing Gabe Newell to go rage on Sony's stage), they didn't budge for Square Enix (for Final Fantasy XIV), They didn't budge with Funcom or Cryptic (causing the cancellation of the 360 version of Age of Conan and Champions Online), do you really think they'd budge for CCP?
4: The ones most disappointed about Dust not being a multiplatform game aren't you guys, it's CCP, considering that they're losing potential userbase, and with it revenue.
The facts are simple. The current Xbox Live policies are not MMORPG-friendly, or anywhere advantageous for any game that needs to be run like a MMORPG or that needs to interface with a MMORPG, or that needs to involve any kind of cross-platform gameplay.
Want to patch your xbox 360 game? Sure. After your playtested your patch internally, you have to send it to microsoft, and wait for two weeks for them to certify it. Is your patch going to affect another platform? Though luck. You'll have to wait to patch both platforms. Oh wait, that's not even possible, anyway, because cross-platform gameplay is disallowed by the xbox live policies.
Want to blame someone because Dust won't be on your favourite console? Microsoft -> That way. Probably you'll join quite a few CCP executives, they're probably more disappointed than you.
And seriosly, lol @ "disgust". The whine runs strong in this game. Funny how the Eve online community is supposed to be one of the most mature on the internet. Threads like this aren't too different from those you can see on the wow forums.
The problem is these forums are full of the most undeucated immature idiots on the planet. They are here only to snivel about things they do not understand nor do they care to learn...

Interesting contradiction here. CCP decides not to release Dust on PC and then is sad because they're loosing revenue from potential PC sales?
The argument for excluding Xbox is pretty strong. However not allowing current Eve players to participate in Dust -- which interacts with and effects Eve -- on the hardware they're currently using makes no sense. Especially since the two games are being marketed as "the same game." How does it make sense not to be able to play the "same game" on the same platform?

Considering it's an MMOfps... buying it without having access to the internet would be like buying EVE without access to the internet
Besides the PS3 has built in wireless and an ethernet port, it's completely free to access the internet via PS3 too. In this day and age if someone has a PS3, there's a good chance it's hooked up to the internet.
Even the majority of 360 consoles are connected to the internet, despite the ú40 wireless adapter and Xbox live subscription.

It's none of my (or your) buisness what CCP spends their money on.
Every observation you have made in this thread has been shown to be either ill informed or simply foolish.

No. That would just mean they made less money and had less chance (and opportunity) to diversify and to survive in the long run ù iow, it would be pretty darn stupid, and would be bad for everyone involved.

You clearly DIDN'T read the responses, or if you did they clearly went WAAAAAAAAAAAY over your head. Every one of your objections, complaints and idiotic assumptions has been clearly explained, yet you still fail to grasp what is essentially simple logic.
You know what? I had intended on reiterating what others have said in a way you could understand, but then I realised you are a moron and it would be a waste of time. Of course dust is limited to online PS3 consoles, it's an online game jack ass!
CCP are expecting to not do well with DUST it's never been done before, this won't sink the company but it might just do something different for a change. Rather than the same old fps, chest high wall, tea bagging nonsense of the past five years.

I look forwards to seeing Dust 514's great success :) That so many on these threads preach. Though after its release I look forwards to re-linking this thread to all those "happy" customers. I in response to those who said that cross platform gaming is impossible what about Shadowrun? And I take it that Abriael's mention of MS not allowing in-game currency is a reference to plex, since games are allowed in-game money, ranging from everything from call of duty, to halo and oblivion to name a few. And maybe showed on CCP's part an inability to compromise? Wanting console gamer's to buy PLEX for expensive guns or armour etc.
And the diversifying point made by others, I do hope they know that the entire point of diversifying is the ability for the company to survive when one of their sources of income dries up, and i doubt that a FPS that relies on the primary product, eve, is even classed as diversifying as without eve it is nothing! Thus Dust 514 is technically not even a diversification for CCP but by a means to monetize on something else.

This could just be the wine talking, but if I were CCP I wouldn't even entertain the notion of paying microblow a cut of my profits, to allow people to buy and pay to play my games online. I'm sure Sony doesn't allow multiplayer on their networks 100% free of charge either, but at least the Japanese know how to bend over for the sake of accommodating business. MS only knows how to make business bend over for it.
Good on you CCP. Stick it to Bill and his sodomistic homo-microsoftus lackeys.

CCP officialy tell us they're going to enable the keyoard and mouse for their game.
PS3 allows it by default. Its up to the game manufacturer to impliment the code to allow it's use.
If not - I'll still be angry for a bit but i'd get over it - BUT You're going to be quite upset when a bunch of players serverly outskill the rest because they're using "non approved" 3rd party hardware attachments which are undetectable because they mimmic the gamepad commands perfectly - to allow them to use a keyboard and mouse anyway.
