Tsk, scammers
Good luck to you though, helps you weed out the stupid people if you're just gonna scam on escrow.
Scamming lab slots is evil, and for people like me who sell lab slots genuinly it makes my life harder
Such is life, though

FYI, "thieves have no honor" is a misquote of a very famous line. Quote: Matteux (1712). Quixote. "The old proverb still holds good, thieves are never rogues among themselves."
There is honor among thieves. Entre bueyes no hay cornadas ~Traditional Proverb
All is fair in war and politics. It is a game of force and fraud. There is said to be honor among thieves, but one does not look for such a thing among statesmen

Very good post - yes all very valid within the eve world and just another aspect of the in game dynamics such an indepth game generates im sure you have also been scammed in return of it youre sec is low enough you have had big bounties placed on youre head (which of course you can change characters and blow youreself up and collect a large bounty put up by another player)
Good work some of them i wouldnt use myself due to "moral" concerns but as in real life all is fair in the real world

I'm not here to start an argument about scamming, please don't post quotes that simply generalise vague traits of scammers, the people that play scammers are individuals and cannot be ôclassifiedö in such a way . It is my opinion that many scams do require a great deal of skill and intelligence. |

Edited by: MinorFreak on 16/02/2005 11:30:41 You posted an argument in support of scamming; I merely posted the best darned argument i've heard so far AGAINST.
SINCE you cannot deal with a decent, rational, devil's advocate 'argument' THEN your thread's logical purpose would be nothing but ego gratification.
edit: besides, reading your post and that quote by lil'bit again, it occurs to me you first deny the validity of her base assumption and then go about proving her entire post by your last sentence about skill and brains. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Luckily, I have only ever been scammed once. It was by a method that you do not have on your list. I was a noob when this happened to me so I did not lose much.
Courier scams. Ask someone to transport a large shipment to a PCS in deep space (which they wont be able to do). You steal their collateral.
I post this as a warning to other players. DONT TRY TO ATTEMPT PLAYER COURIER MISSIONS!

It's not a very good argument against scamming imo, this thread is intened as a tool for new scammers. I don't want to get into any arguments here and yes

lol roflmao. Thank you for agreeing that the quote was an 'argument' against scamming. Of course you won't agree with it, that's your opinion. And of course i assume you wouldn't "like" the context.
I also take great pleasure in knowing you'd stoop to this sort of ad hominem. kind of proves the point you're just here for what you claim you're not. ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Zeepo, 3 things.
1: being a scammer does not make you famous, it makes you imfamous, its a big difference, a scammer can never gain fame.
2: You seem as of yet not realized the best scam, that is when you complete the scam and the person you targeted thinks he got the better deal, if you are capable of pulling those off you never have to switch alts.
3: And naturally the most fun scam, the only real one I have ever tried is to scam the scammers. Proudly I have combined point 2 and 3 on more than one ocation and love it every time I pull it off.

MinorFreak, you misread my post, read it again please, the word "yes" was followed by a quote.
I must repeat myself, can I please ask that people refrain from arguing about scamming on this thread. I know it's probly tempting to try and argue with me but I will not be baited :P

lol. you're playing to an audience that neither respects your "i'm the thread's moderator cause i created it" attitude, nor believes you haven't been successfully baited FOUR TIMES OVER.
now what does this say about the thread itself? means you posted total and utter fluff. God, might as well teach us how to steal candy from babies...but i'm sure that would be a little above your level.
edit: besides, i thought Vegeta's "art of scamming" was the best i've seen. at least he didn't post utter dog **** and try to pass it as genuine bull crap ______________________ Best darned links ingame and out (backup) |

Heh, at least Vegeta's version was more or less interesting to read as a story. Yours is just, well, kindergarten scribblings :) Badly written, and describes the stupidest, easiest and totally boring scams there are :) Your brilliant exploits, shall we say, don't exactly take my breath away.
Famous, lol. Pitiful, more like.

for all parties we should all try scamming each other and see if anyone succeeds at least by attempting some of these scams we get an idea how to defend against them in futre right - expose youreself and you gain skills to defend against it ?
Still it was a very good attempt at creative writing from a different angle and that in itself should be applauded

got market scammed on x-mas heh.. he got 51 millions for a reactor unit, nice present I guess.. this was before the pop up came back to the game. What got me is the formatting of the text. if you type 51.111.111,00 in the market, the text uses less space than f.ex 100.000,00, so I automaticly thought of 51.000.. but nope..
how to avoid ? make an cash alt where you transfer most of your money to... or learn to read what the screen really says..
