What a lousy showing and telling sign of just how lacking Amarr ships are. Curses, yes, why nothing else? Will we eventually see other ships other than Caldari and Minmater that have been dominating this tournament so far?

As explained by the good Goon gentleman (I believe, may be mistaken), Amarr ships are great in larger scale warfare, but in small gang stuff, your chance of getting neuted to buggery increases, and when your tank, weapons and in-ship toaster are all entirely reliant on cap, that's not a good thing to have happen. Similarily, Gallente blaster ships suffer a similar problem, of while having great damage potential up close, you're also then in brick-in-a-sock range yourself.
Caldari and Minmatar can at least keep damage going while their ship falls apart around them.

Edited by: Resunas on 11/06/2011 21:20:00 I know several people who use Amarr ships in small gang PvP and are sucessful. Alliance Tournament does not equal normal PvP. If you are running an actual fleet of 8-10 people and are able to field 2 guardians, Amarr ships are great. The problem in the tournament is the cap dependency which is difficult to overcome when limited to 1 guardian.

Edited by: Kithrus on 11/06/2011 21:38:59 Also Amarr Ships are slow when armor tanked to the nines as they often are or really fast. In essence to get the most out of a Amarr ships you need to run an entire amarr fleet in which case jamming becomes a pain.
The Curse, Guardian, SB and occasional BS is all your going to see.
Frankly I'd like to see a HAM Legion go in swinging. When those things work they wreck hell on you.

Edited by: Lucius Voltar on 11/06/2011 21:47:21 Also with the increased Arena Size, Both Pulse Lasers & Blasters are extremely difficult to use, baring in mind those gallente ships we've seen so far have been lucky enough to land on top of their opponents for the most part (those that won) and those that lost (usually Brutix) although powerful lacked the ability to get close in a situation where range is easily controlled. The same is for the amarr ships, Unless you want to fit Beams and sit out... but then you just run the risk of being tackled by dramiels for example.
That and to be fair, most of Amarrs decent ships are heavily pointed, for example the zealot for its surviveability in a AT its just better to use other ships.
Curses and Guardians (and purifiers) are common because of their unique roles apart from that maybe we'll see a damnation or absolution but I doubt much else. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Let's look at Amarr ships.
Amarr frigs (t1 and t2) have no mids, useless for tackling (which is all they are used for in tourneys)
Amarr cruisers (t1) are just not as good as their other race counterparts. Maller is great for baiting or tanking but you'd rather have something with deeps. Omen is kinda weak and has no utility.
Amarr cruiser (t2) Curse can be useful, but you risk coming up against a missile team and wasting all your mid slots, of course neuts are still useful though. Zealot is decent on TQ but at 13 points each compared on par with a hurricane, you can see why you'd choose something else. Sac is just not very good at all.
Amarr Battlecruisers you have the prophecy, which is basically a maller but bigger, and the harbi which is p good on tq but isn't really as versatile as a hurricane imo, slower, potentially lower range. Shield fitting it is bad. Abso is quite sexy but in a tourney its too slow and too big. Damnation is a prophecy with gang links, you might see one of these with bs heavy dudes.
Amarr BS, apoc just won't tank enough, geddon is decent but theres very little reason to use one over an abaddon when they have same points except for the utility neut/transfer, it has 3 mids. Abaddon you might see once or twice but it is literally a brick, so you risk getting kited really easily.
Bhaalgorn, youare gonna see. You already have. Navy Geddon suffers from same things a regular geddon does but with a bigger buffer, no reason to use one over an abaddon.
You won't see guardian much because it needs tobounce cap off a battleship. _______________

This. In jove space the rules are different and ferox and cyclones are superior to abaddons.

ill tell you why. amarr ships have realy bad ecm . 1 single frigate can almoste perma jam an amarr bs. with a couple of small ecm drones. The other one is when you get at 0 of an amarr BS he will not be able to shoot you. and 3th amarr does only do 2 types of damage so its very easy to tank.

Edited by: Veshta Yoshida on 12/06/2011 09:00:06 Guardians, Curses and Purifiers have been used quite a bit so far. Rest of the Amarr line-up does not lend itself well to the format so would be folly using them, it is all about drones and midslots.

Actually not far from the truth this time around: 100mn Tengus - Check. Scimitars - Check. Shield/Gank Hurricanes/Cyclones - Check. T3 Booster - Check. Lol-ECM - Check.
So uhmmmm, you were saying?
