One thing i would like to see added is a skill training plan to the skill queue feature. This is not an extension of the skill queue but instead a separate skill queue that would allow me to put the skills that i plan on training and then as space opens on my queue be able to use an interface where i select the skills that will fit in my queue and press a '+' button to add them. I think we have all been at a point where we were going to train a skill but then after a month long queue forget what we were going to add. Just an idea flame and dismember as appropriate.

Why make CCP devs program stuff that works best natively in a windows program when its already available in a simpler format?
Just use EVEMon... it's already there, let the devs do work that is needed.

Fair enough for windows users. Us MAC OSX users are often forgotten about in terms of these 3rd party skill development plans. And why wouldn't the dev's want to incorporate an idea such as evemon? If im not mistaken its the Dev's job to program 'stuff' into the game to make it more user friendly, not everyone wants to download a 3rd party program and risk a malware (no matter how safe you think they are). Not trying to flame your response so please dont take it that way just trying to move the thread along to something deeper than EVEMon.

Why not develop it for use on the EveGate site?
It makes sense to do that because it can then be accessed both inside and outside of the game. Making it easier to port across OS's. Of course, that's assuming that the in-game browser can allow the functionality required for the user to operate it.
Plus, as the information is then kept "in house", it would eliminate possible compatibility issues when the game is "patched", as well as keeping sensitive data safe and secure.
Some kind of in-game functionality could then access that "planner" and allow the player to add a skill to the skills training queue.
- Accessibility via EveGate, regardless of where you are. Whether playing the game, or viewing the planner at work on your internet enabled phone.
[*]No additional downloads necessary. [*]No transfer of sensitive information to other applications. [*]Reduction in potential portability issues due to using common browser technology.

I totally agree that better Mac integration is a good thing...as a Mac and Windows user.
In a way though, I like that the more long winded calculations and planning aspects in EVE were left up to the community to develop their own tools.
It's nothing that can't be done with a piece of paper in the end, which is what I'm sure a lot of people originally did. However, we, as a community (a windows community ) made it easy on ourselves...

EVEGate is a great concept as well. The ability to update my skill queue through that would be awesome, but thats a story for another day. I think EVEGate would be a great manner to introduce this.

As far as pen and paper calculations. I do not have nearly that much time in a day, unless you can convince them to add a few extra hours into a day. I need something with function that i can just log on into and boom its part of the game and doesnt lose me any game time.
I agree. Eve needs to be made a little more "accessible" and try to lose some of it's "Space game with spreadsheets" stigma that puts so many people off it. And the first step to doing that is presenting the information in less overwhelming form.
An intuitive UI helps in that respect to present information in an easy to understand format with functionality that is clear and accessible.
I find it absurd that in this day and age when we have such powerful machines at our disposal, that someone would suggest that we remain reliant on scraps of paper to keep a track on skill progression.

I just dont want to use a 3rd party program and i surely dont want to use a windows emulator on my computer, thats the reason i own a mac is so i dont have to use windows. just sayin

Dude.... You are now paying the price for buying a mac and trying to play games on it.
Macs have a terrible selection of games, and even worse 3rd party community and support. That's just tough.
As it is, there already exists a solution to your problem: win emulator + evemon. If you don't want to use that solution, that's your own fault.
As for the idea... A queue to queue up for the real queue? Obviously laughable. ---- I belong to Silent Ninja (Hopefully that should cover it). |
