Mara,
The impression I got from talking to you and from reading your blog (which got me into FW to begin with) was that you are a very rational, logical, and generally unbiased person. Which is why I'm having some trouble asking myself, "Why would Mara ask such a blatantly biased question in the original post? The evident bias points to some emotional ties to the question, so is he seeking public justification because he felt like he had none in the corp? Is he just angry with TRIAD and wants to create an outhouse thread where everyone gets to take a dump in the hole and pat each other on the backs for doing so? He has to know that nothing good could come out of a biased question."
This thread saddens me. That's all I really got to say anyway.

The $50 Amazon.com gift card.
You all got yours before the offer expired, right?
edit to add:
Quote:
What are your thoughts of joining a faction warfare corporation whose practice is to pvp no more than six days a week (it could be less than six days, but not greater than six days)? Where one day a week, if you wanted to pvp, you would be by yourself with no corporation support? Where that one day a week the corporation had a 75% tax rate (impacting rat bounties ù which can easily run 10 million isk per hour ù as well as TLF mission ISK ù which can easily amount to 3 to 5 million isk per mission if you have high social skills and get the bonus ISK), and the expectation for that one day a week is that you would PvE in high security space turning in all loot and salvage to the corporation to fill the corporation coffers? Yes? No? Maybe? Why?
Seriously? That's terrible. Join a different corp then. It's a bad problem with a very simple solution.
second edit:
Can you cut out the political crap?

Good day, Io Koval:
I asked the questions privately; and it came to light that parties involved did not want to ask questions (that raised red flags). When I asked the questions in a small group setting (with chiefs present), that didn't lead to any positive discussions (the two times it occurred, one cursed and logged; the other time involved the chiefs name calling -- more red flags). I.e. asking questions, is it team work if we don't involve the team in making certain decisions?
Since it was presented in the small group setting that my understanding of why people join FW or a particular corporation are wrong (that's the polite way of saying what was said), and why the ONLY way for TRIAD to pvp six days a week, and get people into PVP ships (that after several weeks of of the 75% tax rate once a day and the missions being done are still not delivered -- well, at least of yesterday morning) that I thought to make the blog post and ask in here.
Who knows, maybe I was completely off base, and the idea that the only way to get pvp ships into the hands of members is to do it the triad way. After all, you have two members in highly faction fit Mac's helping with the missions, members in Noctis salvaging, etc.... maybe its the most hidden idea in town that is so bright it should be shared... I don't know.
While you can gain experience through the actual experience; Io Koval, you can also gain it through asking questions. So I asked, and found my answers that just like the U.S. President is out of touch with its people, the same can be said with in game corporations.
Thank you. --- Mara Abraham

You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about socialism, which you are obviously ideologically opposed to. Having decided that TRIAD's new policy was in someway socialistic you now are too entrenched.
Do you consider the Armed Forces to be socialistic? They provide all the equipment for their members but its the tax payer who pays for it. Perhaps you think standing armies should be more militia-like?
TRIAD seems to be attempting to supply fitted and rigged PVP ships in suitable locations to their members, from which they will probably run their PVP operations; in fleet standard ships. They have decided to pay for this in the way you have described. There are other ways but this is the way they have chosen.
It's not socialistic, it's a considered approach to the age old fleet problem of militias where people turn up for the roster in rag-tag, unsuitable ships or lose their only set-up PVP ship on route to the form-up point to pirates.

Maybe your corporation should stop charging taxes for something that requires no income. You could do everything your corporation does without a single taxed ISK (FW wise). Hell, your corporation doesn't even need to exist. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Good day, Kade Jeekin:
Only speaking of the U.S. military (for which we had a family member involved in until they were diagnosed with a life long illness that disqualifies them; this happened in basic) in that U.S. tax payers are not paying 75% tax to support the military.
Bottom up socialism is where individuals band together as a team and make the decision they will pool various resources for the better good. An example of that in the 1st century can be found in Acts 5:32-37.
Top down socialism is where a small group of individuals make decisions without input from the impacted members (taxation without representation), and through various means try to push down the socialist actions from the top to the bottom.
Bottom up socialism can work for the longest period of time; top down socialism fails to live long because either two things happen:
* Persons capable of being self sufficient (they may or may not be a top performer, but they do not need entitlements) see that their efforts are being leached on; and eventually they get tired of leaches and they leave with lowers the contents of the pot (gross product, gross income, assets, etc.).
* Others become more and more laid back (lazy) realizing they have to do less and less to get by as they can live (or try to live) off the entitlements.
In the end, TRIAD did make their choice; and I'm no longer a part of TRIAD.
Thank you. --- Mara Abraham

I joined to have kills and fights and ganks.
I left because of the politics and backstabing amongst miltia corps.
When I rejoined i was hoping for kills and fights.
Till i kept myself away from intel channels and we kept just corp fleets it worked, but in a moment i get dragged into intel channels and mixed fleets, things went south ... so I finally decide to join some laid back alliance in NPC null (which seems like another option for bloodthirsty biatch like me and my buddies).

Good day, Mara Abraham:
Are you really so incapable of making your own decisions you needed to launch a giant thread of passive aggressive concern trolling, just to leave (get kicked out of) a corp you were dissatisfied with? For a person who seems to dislike socialism so much, you seem remarkably incapable of acting as a free agent.
I eagerly await your 25 paragraphs of awkward writing comparing me to some U.S. politician you dislike.

Edited by: John Wesley Hardin on 19/06/2011 00:34:03 Gees Mara, you ain't makin'any friends making posts like this.
Do yourself a favor & learn a little tact perhaps,
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tact
You need to have some friends in this game, learning how to be a diplomat is all part of EvE.
I call bad play making this whne thread & offending alot of ppl with your side of the story.
edit; iirc TRIAD took you in around the time you were considered a lepper by most of Min FW & IFW had a standing KOS order against you.
This is how you say thx to a grp of players who gave you a home & fleets to join?
Really, didn't you owe them a little more of a chance to wrok this out in private before you came here & spat the dummy publicly?
i can just imagine the heat those who vouched for you must be taking right now!
Good Job Mara

kade jeekin...you hit the nail fair on the head.
keeping our troops supplied is exactly the aim. avoiding amamake gate ganks is also high on the ideals agenda...and the taxed income/insurance payouts gets directly re-invested into various BPO's.
we make our own ships but we dont/cant/hate mine/ing... anyone else got a corp where you get pre-rigged hulls supplied to your lowsec hub for you to go get blown up in?...does it clear a profit when you do?
consider this... all the money that you spend in rens buying and fitting your PVP ships...who makes them? who profits from your purchase? and when you get blown up, could you not just be perpetuating a cycle? it's not a huge stretch of the imagination to believe that heimatar/metropolis markets may well be supplied by forward thinking enemies. The entire scheme is about circumventing this possibility...
and just to be perfectly clear...the hi-sec missioning day isn't mandatory in the slightest, at the end of the day the loots are made into hulls that we supply free of charge to members...we WANT them to go get blown up...thats how we are able to branch out into other BPO's/ clear a profit. We dont care if u dont show up for the missions so long as you PVP with the end product.
Cant see how sharing the load/cost of PVP would be considered in any way a bad deal and as for the tax rate...if anyone hated the tax rate so much...no one is preventing anyone from running TLF missions...the LP cant be taxed and its worth way more isk/hour to individuals...just remember, you become a part of the enemies profits when you mindlessly buy buy buy with your TLF earnings.
think of it as choosing your side with just as much brains as bullets.

I'd just like to clarify:
Neither IFW or any other LateNite Fleet corporation has or had a KoS order on Mara. We have always had a very strict policy on killing looters, regardless of their sec status or standing.
Oh, and Mara, I've said this before and I'll say it again: Leave EVE, goto Hello Kitty Online.

Thanks for that. Though it escapes me why one would want to remove his or her opinions on an open forum after everyone has had time to read and be affected by them... for some reason I doubt I'll be enlightened.

Alienating your ex-corpmates is always a good idea.
Or maybe all the pseudo-intellectual political comparisons and the not-so-subtle references to religion got him in trouble with someone, who knows?

Mara Abraham quits in drama llama shocker. Oh no wait...
I remember that happening when I tried out FW around the start of the year. Similar story, how the corp wasn't going in the right direction, nobody was doing stuff the way s/he wanted, wasn't being listened to, wasn't enough PVP - and instead of bringing it up in corp or in convo as a starting point, chose to bleat about it in militia channels and militia fleets with pseudo hypothetical questions and badly disguised snipes...
And in my (admittedly limited) experience, other corps I've been in have done similar stuff to what Mara claims TRIAD have implemented - because if you put up an event for "Corp mission night, 1900-2300 GMT, Level 4 Republic Fleet, all profits to corp to fund the *Ship For Life programme"... then a lot of people don't seem to show up and give you excuses such as "I can't log on at that time, thats not my regular agent / my PVE ship isn't based in that system / my fittings are the wrong kind of resist for X-NPC missions / I don't want to affect my standings" So you whack on a high tax rate for 24 hours and let people mission when, where and for whom they want.
*Yes TRIAD really did try to do a "Ship For Life" for a while, and I am aware of several Hurricanes being dished out as part of that. One reason it fell apart: not enough minerals. Amazing how many people are happy to take free ships and think they appear out of thin air...
Anyway. Back to the mothballs.
