Edited by: Salohcin Dragon Maricadie on 15/06/2011 14:47:01 So yesterday was a DDoS attack, I was thinking maybe you guys could come out with a payment card just for your game(s), so if info is stolen the card can only pay for gaming so no harm can be done really. A better idea would be for you to provide a code at reg. that you could put in at you CC site & pay for the service from there.

They already accept paypal, dude.
Personally, I'm not too worried about CC theft. They took the servers offline at the first sign of trouble, and that implies a competent security department that doesn't have less competent managerial staff mucking with it.
Before anyone argues with that statement, I'll remind you that the only way you can make a computer system more secure then by unplugging it from the internet is by unplugging its power and embedding it in a cement block.

You can already do something like this, without any involvement from CCP.
Get a prepaid VISA card. Load it with $X where X is your maximum risk value. Use that to pay for your account. Reload card as needed. You can even use cash to reload most of those cards, no bank account necessary. --Vel

The billing data isnt saved on the same DB as the eve server. The data will be encrypted (how heavy, I dunno). Even if someone does manage to get your CC details and your personal details (Name, Phone, Addy) then MOST civilized nations (Note this generally excludes the USA) will have protection mechanisms in place.
For Example, I have a credit card with a secure-key generator that uses chip&pin (the little chip on the card).... When I want to do an online transaction then the merchant will attempt to bill my CC, the CC company will return a ID that I type into my box, I then insert my card and type it's pin, it outputs a 2nt ID and I type that into the return box and payment will be authorised.
If your highly paranoid then use prepaid visa, use cash (COIN ONLY) to pay for that card. Once that card is used then DESTROY IT by cutting the chip in half, and burning the card.
PayPal isnt a secure layer at all, I do use it for some things, but I have never had more than 500$ in it, and when I authorized my account with them I used a CC that I cancelled directly afterwards ;P. ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |
