Ok, so, I've been kind of bothered for a while that I've had no warp effects. The way I assume it works (the way it used to work only with ticks instead of crosses) is that having the boxed crossed means it is ON.
I tested it out and uncrossed all the boxes and suddenly I had warp tunnel effects.
The thing that's confusing here is that with my options menu as shown in the above picture, I still have station interiors and drone models and ship explosions. Here's where it gets weird, drone models show up regardless of my settings here. The warp tunnel test shows that effects show up when the box in NOT CROSSED but not when it is CROSSED, but station environments show up when the box is CROSSED but not when it is NOT CROSSED.
TL;DR what the bloody hell is going on here? -- If you take anything anyone ever says or does seriously in this game, you're doing it wrong, and probably missing out on a few good laughs. |

CCP have never been good at these kinds of things, there is/was a similar issue with the POS interface.
I'd petition it as a bug.

Crossed means it is active you should try to update your graphic card drivers could be possible that one of the other effects is making your game have trouble showing it. ______________________ I am just a crazy cow |

caching issues maybe?
Usually clearing the cache fixes most of the problems... I will, however, agree that the carbon UI has brought along its fair share of annoyances...

Just to address a couple of your questions.
Unticking "drone models" means they will not be rendered for random drones in space (only the bracket icon will be visible). However, if you click "look at" on a drone, the model for that drone specifically will be rendered to give you something to 'look at'.
All of the buttons have the two states of "selected" (shown by a cross) and "unselected" (shown by an empty box). If you are experiencing anything in contract to this make sure you have cleared cache after changing settings.
Warp tunnels are currently being a bit temperamental but that should be fixed soon. --- ISD IonCharge Lt. Commander ISD STAR |

Why the constant word-smithing? Quote:
tem+per+a+men+tal/ˌtemp(ə)rəˈmentl/Adjective 1. (of a person) Liable to unreasonable changes of mood. 2. Of or relating to a person's temperament: "they were firm friends in spite of temperamental differences".á
Warp tunnels are bugged.
A computer program does not have moods or feelings. It works or it doesn't. Personifying computers allows one to blame the hardware or software for a problem that is caused by faulty programming.
But we wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, would we?
