I am mainly making money in the game by killing and salvaging pirate wrecks. I just came from salvaging Blood and Sansha pirate wrecks and they seem to drop Armor Plates which sell for 180K+ each which is great. However I moved over to killing Serpentis pirates and they dont drop these at all it seems! And my profitability has tanked here. Is there any reason to continue salvaging Serpentis pirates if they dont drop Armor Plates? Do they have another type of benefit to taking the time to killing them?

Below is a list of who drops what salvage. It should help guide you in your quest to make the most off of salvaging. As you have found Serpentis salvage is pretty much worthless as is Guristas and Rouge Drones iirc. Angels ships are however pretty good so you migh try flying over in Minmatar space if you were looking for a change in scenery.
Best of luck.

Salvage from Serpentis is poor, but they drop loot instead. Generally, from my observations, loot and salvage are inversely proportional. You get good loot, you don't get good salvage, or much of it.
However, the best way to make money from salvaging is missions. Run them, then salvage everything after. I recently started level 2 missions, and a couple of days' grinding yielded about 6 million ISK just in salvage when I cashed it out at the nearest trade hub. On top of that, there's bounties, mission rewards themselves, and all the T1 loot that I reprocessed, and the meta-level stuff I either scrapped or am hoarding. Also, while armour plates sell for a lot, they're low volume. Tripper power circuits come in higher quantities, and are worth nearly as much. Otherwise, just keep your eyes open, and a salvager fitted to any hauling ship. A while ago, I came across a jetcan on a gate, with a covops cloak in it. An abandoned jetcan, no less. With a 6-7mil T2 item in it, and empty space all around.

Salvaging level 4 missions ia great way to boost income, get a buddy/2nd account to fly a noctis after your mess makin in missions. And yes, for salvage, generally angels is where it's at, or sansha or bloodraider.

Any chance someone did the math and know how many ISK you can get for one Guristas Haven salvage ?
