Description: The Fossor is an ORE product focusing the technologies of configurable subsystems to provide the ultimate mining tool on the field. Using these subsystems, the user is capable of using one ship in any form of mining, from simple strip miners, to Mercoxit, gas, and ice harvesters, while still retaining the same bonuses of any of the exhumers, if not better.

I'm still trying to find the appropriate combination of subsystems and bonuses so that the ship will be able to perform the same as any of the exhumers, but without having to constantly switch ships, and has better bonuses to suit it. The training will require the same as that of a Hulk, except Exhumers must be trained to IV, and the appropriate subsystem skills be inserted.

Ok, I have an opinion, can you please back it up with a reason as to why you disagree?

You want a single ship that makes all other exhumers obsolete.

I'm saying that it can be a ship that can go to the next level beyond the exhumer class.Being a T3 ship, it is capable of performing multiple functions by having the appropriate subsystems, just like the other 4 T3 vessels.

Better mining ships makes mining an even more worthless way to spend your time. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Well, think of it this way. The more that you train in a given profession, the better the payout will be. I remember when I started back in December how much I wanted a mining barge, then I slowly made my way up to the exhumers. Going up to a T3 multifunctional mining vessel would make another goal for a miner like myself. I'm not trying to make an ORE Titan or anything where there is some kind of Doomsday device that strips an entire belt.

I don't think it'd be a terrible idea. Work out the fitting stats, and some potential subsystems.

I intend to. I don't want it to be something that can strip a belt solo, but something that can operate in belts and be slightly more efficient than the exhumer class. Bonuses from the subsystems are something I have to mix and match so that they do not conflict or can be used as an exploit.

I fail to see how carebaring has anything to do with this. It could be used in Hi, low, and null security zones.

Feel free to theorise about it but you are wasting your time as they simply won't release something which is basically a hulk +++
Also, this subforum is for discussions based on CURRENT ships. Your post belongs in features and ideas and as such I have requested a mod move it for your benefit.

Yeah, by the time I saw the forum a little bit more, I realized too late I put this thread in the wrong place. Thanks for calling in the mod. The ship itself is not just a Hulk, and can mine only slightly more, I'll see to that.

So long as you have to train subsystems and when its pop'd "hulkageddon". You lose a skill just like current T3's. Than I don't see this as being all that bad. It gives players constant training, requires more skills to fly, and fits a multitude of roles. BTW everyone posting to much PVE and flaming because you live in null and pvp all day. Learn to appreciate everyone plays for their own reasons.

I can definitely see a T3 industrial happening, I THINK the devs saw it suggested somewhere else on the forums and said 'maybe'.
If it were down to me, I'd suggest you work in more roles than just mining though. The T3 cruisers can be hacs, recons, and/or command ships, they've got the ability to do most things their T2 ship size equivalents can.
So, you should let this thing command mining ops like an orca, (orca is the right one isn't it? I might mean rorq...), mine or haul. Possibly add in salvage/tractoring and planetary interaction too?
It should be the other side of the coin to the current T3s, encompassing pretty much everything non-combat a ship might do.

With statements referring to no new ships until 2014, it is hard to design something when so much could change between now and then. |

Exactly why it doesn't destroy the use of previous ships. Plus no one flys a rifter forever : / "I will only laugh a little when you link the guy that does."

Yes, and it will be used by carebears in all three (four, including WH) types of space.

I do not think the idea is to bad at all. The thing should be able to tank like a beast. But what I have in mind for it is a bad ass bait ship! Muhahahaha.

A tech 3 mining vessel is going to happen; it will probably be a cruiser or frigate and not show til 2014..so if the end of the world happens in 2012 maybe you won't have to worry about it.
I believe we need a small cruiser type vessel with at least 6 highs, a much better tank for WH use, and a gas harvesting bonus. This ship would not fit a strip miner.
This is something the mining profession has been missing.

you mean like all the carebears that use navy ravens in high sec? Why shouldn't the ship be usable by anyone?

go beyond exhumers? WHY? They already are overpowered and with implants go BEYOND what you need.
I would only support your idea if your ship could not mine alone but only give a bonus to an exhumer by giving it an agility and speed bonus only but lowering the cargo space and shields.
The idea being that the t3 would allow for faster mining ops with a crew but would not help much solo.
