i filed a petition and was told to put it here. There are some of us whom genetics decided we don't need to see everything as everyone else does. The new capacitor color is difficult for me to make out especially when some of the background nebulas carry the same red/green mixes. The old gold stood out well for me against all background art.
Solution: Can we get a toggle switch for red / gold capacitor color in our settings?

There's a lot of people complaining about this. And it is a legitimate complaint. Apart from being blind or lacking limbs, a video game should be playable for everyone.
Capacitor is very important, depending on the ship you are flying it can even mean life or death. Capacitor should be easy to see for everyone.

Supported, minimal coding to make it easier on the colourblind is a no-brainer

The blame is partially on mission designers who love to use these bloody stupid gas clouds with HDR inside missions. They are so bright the capacitor and rest of UI is almost invisible.

supported I've got just about good enough eyesite to play but the new capacitor just isnt as clear as it used to be. option in UI to increase brightness / choose colours would be very helpful and if you are reading this you have reached the signature without noticing. |

Should be easy enough to even let players choose the color themselves...

why is it that only now that they changed the capacitor color that all the colorblind keep showing up complaining about it? I'm sorry if this offends any colorblind, I just think it may be that some people may be bluffing just to get what they liked back.

Edited by: Oen''''Gus on 20/06/2011 10:57:18 I support, I'm colorblind too (Daltonist). It's impossible for me to see red or green, and that's something you will see more often than straight color blindness. Reason I'm saying that is it would be nice for the redish colors on the side of the module to be a little bit more flashy when they're taking heat damage.
It's not like if it's a super big deal, I keep pulling my cursor on the module to read the heat dmg % but it would be nice to see it on the side without having to do so.
Edot: And why people are complaining now and they didn't before is just because it's now redish. VERY hard to see the cap. It's not like we're handicaped or something, it's just our eyes have a gene that didn't evolve so we have the same vision that people had a thousand years ago. You see more colors, we see better in the dark, better perceptions to see stuff that is camo'd.

Hey, why accomodate only visually impaired?
There are some of us whom genetics decided we don't need to hear anything as everyone else does - add visual indicators alternative for all in-game events. There are some of us whom genetics decided we don't need to react as quick as everyone else. Slow down the pace of this game ASAP. There are some of us whom genetics decided we don't need to do complex intellectual work as everyone else does. Dumb down this game at once!
In short: shut up and adapt. This game is designed to be as harsh and uncomfortable as real life is. Deal with it.

Don't be a complete asshat you ****er.
Simple game changes to make the game as accessible to everyone is not something CCP is going to ignore. Your comment is probably the dumbest **** I've ever read on this forum to date.

LOL I feel you bro, life is harsh and uncomfortable so let's dump our vengeance and anger on people who try to improve the game.
On a more serious note, life is not harsh and uncomfortable for all of us and there is already visual indicators for evrey event.

Whoa. You two, can I has sum stuff you're smoking? Adding accessibility means dumbing down. Period. Take tabbed browsing for hangars, for example: it's easy to implement, and it adds to accessibility, but still isn't implemented, because ccp think you should pay for being comfortable and use containers instead. If you're too dense to wrap your brain around it, take industrial interface and think of whatever accessibility improvements you can, then look them up here. Yes, you've got it right: NONE is implemented. Therefore, again, shut up and adapt.

Oh, then we have deaf people issues covered. Two steps left: fixing things considering reflexes disorders, then moving on to casualize eve further, fixing things for dimwits. Makes perfect sense.

Nearly 10% of worldwide population "suffers" Colorblindness, most of them are men. Im one of them. Its not big disadvantage in RL, but sometimes it can cause minor problems. With new color on capacitor its problem for me too. Just add new feature to change color of capacitor, like you can change color of HUD.
btw.: Please, someone insert the brain into Shantie en'Lewarx. Thank you.

People who are colorblind have trouble seeing the colors red and green. The old capacitor color was a bright, solid, orange. The new color is a dull, opaque, red. As a result it becomes difficult to see the capacitor for colorblind people and depending on where they are, the capacitor can be invisible altogether.

Or an option to remove the transparency at least.
But like many other legitimate requests, this will be ignored for months if not years.

More accurately, they can not distinguish -some- colours. This mean it can be all colours, or just any combination of 1 or 2 "base" colours. Makes it hard to choose a specific colour that would fit to everyone.
Good way to content everyone, might be to allow people to choose their capacitor colour just like we can already do with the rest of the interface.
edit: never typed the word "colour" so many times in one message. edit: dang, did it again
