Hello,
I'm looking for a solid amarr BS fit for soloing drone hordes. My gut is leaning towards an abaddon due to its tank and damage, and when fit with tachs I can hit out pretty far with it, but im not married to that idea and will consider pulse fits or even using an apoc or geddon.
I do have a couple of fits in mind for the abaddon specifically, but I thought Id ask around the forums to see if there were any creative ideas that I haven't thought of yet.
Thanks!

Navy geddon has a nice drone bay if all else fails you. Tank up and let the drones do the work.

Edited by: Alice Katsuko on 18/06/2011 03:53:08 The rats in Drone Hordes orbit between 40 and 50km, so a pulse Abaddon may have trouble hitting them without Scorch. Note also that some of the spawns in both types of Drone Hordes may stress even a dual-repper Dominix at times. I usually warp in at 50-70km and 'snipe' with sentries using a single-repper Dominix. So I would suggest using an Abaddon with Mega T2 beams -- in my experience Tachyons require too many powergrid mods to be efficient.

Good thing about Drone Hordes is that they come in controllable waves (either kill the last rat and the next wave will spawn, or shoot 1 of the 4 bunker and a group appears), so incoming DPS is manageable.
I have found a Tach Abaddon works best, with 5 Infiltrator 2 drones. With a TC and an optimal script the tachs will have a 38km or so optimal with milti.

Thanks for the help guys,
I've been looking more towards a mega beam fit as well, due to range being one of the best ways to avoid damage on the sites.
I have also been gently testing some of the hordes/scout sites to see how bad it gets in my armageddon. While pulses rip stuff up, I have to hang out in range to do the damage and take a lot myself. :(
I'm probably going to hit up an Abaddon fit and start with over-tanking, then gradually work my way into more dps as I get more comfortable with the sites.

I'm looking to do the same. You guys have any specific fits you could link? I've got a build sitting if EFT which seems appropriate but I have very limited knowledge of Drone space aside from 'They hit with everything.' I'm guessing EANMs are in order?
Cheers!

Edited by: Headerman on 25/07/2011 06:04:32 Usually there are 2 types of drone BSs, Avium Queens (sp) deal alot of exp, some therm and kinetic with just a tiny bit of EM.
The Matriach Queens deal alot more damage, not sure yet what damage type. EANMS are handy, so is an explosive hardener.
I would try: 8 Tachs in the highs 3 Cap rechargers, 1 TC in the mids 1 LAR, 1 exp hardener, 3 EANMS, 2 heat sinks in the lows 1 ACR, 2 CCC rigs.
That setup should take a drone BS out in about 7 volleys using multi freq. Pack some Acolyte drones for scramming and webbing frigs.
Edit: Try a patrol first as well, they are the Havens equivilent.

Is it even possible to fit 8 tachs on the Abbadon? I don't have access to EFT right now... One option is using http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/52060-Abaddon-Level-4-Cap-Booster-idea.html A cap boosted fit. At all lvl 5's it has a range similar to the apoc with a bigger punch, althoug it does relies on booster charges.

I doubt that fit could even tank a patrol to be honest. Drone regions anoms != lvl 4's. I've even had the tank on my dual LAR2 Domi get pretty thin at times.
@OP I haven't really found an Amarr fit that can do Hordes fast, which is what you want. Ideally since you can control how many mobs you spawn in a horde, the most efficient way to run them is with a carrier, spawn everything and get aggro with everything on the carrier, relaunch your drones and let them do all the work while you warp in the noctis and loot/salvage while you run the site. Other ways to run them quickly would be with a dedicated tank and a BS setup as a gunship. I know quite a few people who have draketank alts or rattlesnakes for this very purpose. You might want to also look into doing Patrols as they might be better isk per hour. I run Patrols in my Apoc and kite everything. Unlike hordes who's bs's like to sit at 40k, the battleships in a patrol have to get within 14k to start doing real damage to you, so kite tanking in an apoc works like a charm. This gives you an added bonus, as you're always aligned out to a safe pos or station.
