I just noticed this and thought I'd get it out there before I forget- Could there be a connection between Eystur, Metropolis, and Eysturoy, an island in the Faroes? |

Interesting! I'd guess there is a connection. The Faroes aren't far at all from the devs home in Iceland. The events of war and battle are driven by-áthree interactive forces:-á Strategy & Reason;-á-á Rage & Emotion;-á-á Probability & Chance. -Clausewitz |

Eystur is a municipality on Eysturoy in the Faroese Islands so it's very likely there's a connection. If you look at a lot of the names in EVE, be it ships or system names, you'll discover a lot more have some form of connection to Iceland. Wrangler Community Team Manager - Community Arch Wizard

Many or most of the system names were randomized but some where specifically chosen, so that isn't surprising. The book Art of EVE clearly states that Old Norse cultures -- Iceland in particular -- were a major artistic influence on the Minmatar race. |

My question is, if systems like 0SHT-A were intentional. |

Watch out we are taking over New Eden . Plus Icelandic and Faroese are pretty close. So since Eystur means East in Icelandic and Faroese the connection is Eystur in space = East and Eysturoy = East Island. . Or the devs where very drunk and could no come up with more crazy system names. Crazy Faroese Whaler GÖÑGÖªGÖúGÖá |

Not sure if coincidence, but there are also plenty of amusing system names for Finns. Off the top of my head and brief browsing of Dotlan eve maps... "Mies" means "man". "Kakki" is a baby word equal to "Poopy"
And many others i've seen posted in the finnish channel but can't remember right now.. |

I read there's this agent somewhere named Christer Fuglesang too. That might seem odd to Swedes, since he was the first Swedish Astronaut and went up to the ISS some time back. Don't know if he got as far as New Eden though. |

Vattuolen (vattu +¦len) is one I remember reading about on the old forums. "I am a raspberry".
