When I double click on the eve icon on my desktop I can briefly see the normal logon screen, then it disapear and I am back to windows desktop...
I have played the game for month, and I have not done anything with my computer or drivers.
I use the nVidia 66.93 as allways .... what is going on? I have tried to clear the cache...

A Reboot of the PC fixes this for me.
If you are still having problems you may have to Uninstall, and Reinstall Eve.
You can copy the \Cache\ folder out of \ProgramFiles\CCP\Eve\ and paste this back in your new install so that you don't lose your portraits and stuff.

You can just create a NEW user in Windows Vista/XP. That maked it work.
TWO of my friends just had this PROBLEM after installing and using the TESTSERVER.
Friend number ONE have Windows Vista Home and created a new user, and Eve works again.
Friend number TWO have XP but he must first try to reinstall EVE. Which ONE already did (both old and new eve-install, and in different folders).
I will return with CCP answer to my Petition.

No need to do a re-install:
If you have run the Test Server copy of Eve you have installed elsewhere in another Folder on your hard drive, you will experience this problem as it appears to overwrite the Live version settings...
search for the folders * Cache Settings
Which in 2k are located at: C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE
where %user% is the id u log onto - eg Mylogon
Make sure that you can view hidden folders
On XP u will need to search for these two as I dont have their location to hand - but they are in roughly the same area, I found the info elsewhere on this forum if u get stuck where they are located.
Delete the folders mentioned and u will be up and running again. They are recreated when you start the Live version client.
You will lose your preferences only as All of your character information / assets etc are kept on the Tranquility server
