I'm sure only the best PVPers in Eve will show next year, and there will probably be 10 times as many people watching too.

I wonder how CCP really feel about it, its obvious CCP made a lot of effort and wanted it to be a super serious promotional event for PR purposes. The tourney costs CCP a fair chunk of cash but they do it because of the buzz it creates, its good for getting PCU records and gives them a talking point on blogs and websites and it gives a very public show case of the games combat and politics.
But the final being so openly rigged? It certainly looks bad to the sponsors, they wont sit back and think "oh its OK EVEs like that and its not Hello Kitty Online" they will just think it was a farce of a tourney by a little indie Icelandic company and might avoid sponsoring them in the future.
I wont blame Hydra or Outbreak for making the most of the opportunity but it did ruin the final of the tourney for me and I am sure many people feel the same, including people from CCP who put all the time into it.

Boil them in oil, infiltrate their corps/alliances and disband them all! Let them eat what they hath sowed for the rage of the people who dared watch their sporting event! Is is disgraceful that people in alliances might have used the same tactics alliances have been using for years in an alliance tournament to achieve an outcome the spectators didn't like or want!
Surely the companies that sponsored this wanted an honorable and noble competition from people/corporations/alliances that they've surely vetted and tested to make sure none are cheaters, griefers, liars, RMT'ers, botters, blobbers or anything else that is deemed 'bad'. For what other reason would a company pay the bills on this or any other thing certainly it wasn't so they could plaster their name on stuff or try to build 'good will' with those involved in the event, community, for their products/company, madness that is.

Edited by: Benri Konpaku on 20/06/2011 03:24:40 I don't think it looks bad because this is EVE. According to cannon that Amarr prince kid got himself killed for rigging his speeder didn't he? So this is just another example of EVE's culture.
Doesn't mean it wasn't disappointing from the combat point of view, but as an EVE event it delivered full ExcellenceÖ.
Edit : And yes, people can go out there and 'dec them if they wish to do so. It beats riots any day, eh? |

I'm sure the 34 threads that have been generated in the space of a few hours, and almost 800 posts on the subject are a clear indication of eve dying, and certainly not gaining a lot of publicity for the final. ---

You know what's sad? It looks like the tournament is one of the few places were people can have good old gang PvP anymore. The rest seems to be get bubbled and get ganked, fight for a few, then get dropped, . Rinse and repeat. I quit back when Dominion broke PvP and came back to carebear Asteroids this time around, so I don't know if things are getting better now.
Either way I like tournaments. |

I think you need to get better reading comprehension.
The PCU has nothing to do with the aftermath of threads/posts on the subject after the final. And also, the final likely had no effect on the PCU anyway since people didn't know the final was going to be poor quality until they watched it. If it was a fantastic final the PCU would be the same, and there probably wouldn't be so many posts on the subject. ---

Even tho for the "rigged finals" You put quite a bill in that fight. I salute you.

I ignore the final AT match. Both teams get something, so who cares. All the other matches are way more important, as they determine who gets nothing.

I am positive CCPs sponsors just love the publicity of being associated with a rigged tournament.

World pollitics goes to hell. New reconfiguration of power predicts world wide civil war. And you getting hooked up on fairly won EVE alliance tournament...
Both fielded team of HYDRA beat the opponents to get there. So you could actually see two finals instead of one .. Thats win isnt it.

No, you do. I didn't say what you are implying I said. Have another go at that comprehension part. I know I said a lot and there is much to think about, so really mill it over.

I agree with disqualifying them. Also any other team that was involved in blatant match-fixing such as Razor or Wild Boars.
Really, I don't think anyone gets mad at this **** any more, it's been done so many times, it's like, oh yawn. But in the process they win 100s of billions in prizes and deny us an interesting end to the tournament.

You cant disqualify them. That is almost as stupid of a suggestion as the final round was stupid. What you can do is make sure it NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.

If you are unsatisfied with their performance go gank them, they are out there in their AT ships.
At least they made the finals memorable, does anybody know who won last year? Or the year before that? You will still know who fixed these finals in two years from now.

Nthing was fixed, sponsors had their products placement, panel pushed it to no end.
Which begs the question that should summarize the thread:

Last AT i saw some clip where a match seemed to be delayed starting, then HYDRA blew themselves (up) due to bribery. Initial disappointment lasted seconds before charmed smile at eve's greater complexity being revealed.
I'M OK WITH THIS.

Saying "I'm not watching next years tourney" Pffft pathetic. You are the tpyes that "Quit" every time there's new content, "imbalance", Or died to someone better than you. If you are here next year, YOU WILL watch the tourney. What you threaten is totally hollow.
Nvidia is the best graphic's card. You think people will not buy one in their price range, because of this final? You got to be mad, NOT to fit an Nvidia.
You come on to these Forums to QQ make/post threads, because you are Pathetic.
