The legitimacy of the Alliance Tournament starts with CCP establishing a level field of play. Just want to know, in the wake today's final, whether CCP employees granted favors to any players by placing teams in certain groups or brackets.

This.
I'm tired of everyone saying, "well that's how eve is, it's cutthroat and if you don't like it leave"
Yea i get that it's cutthroat but does that mean we can't have a tournament that's not rigged? Seriously that kind of collaboration should be outlawed in the tournament. It should be about skill. What is this? 19th century boxing?

Metagaming takes a great deal of skill. Just because it doesn't take SP doesn't mean they shouldn't be recognized for it. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Its one thing if the players do it, its another if CCP aided any teams while not aiding others.

You were asking a legitimate question. The person I was responding to was speaking as if it was fact that the tourney was rigged. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

Well, that's the thing. The initial placements were done by CCP. No amount of metagaming can influence that. Unless we're going all the way back to the roaring T20's.

Except that there's not a shred of evidence that CCP actually intended for that to happen. -------- Enemy corps raided into disbandment: Three.

I was pretty sure initial placements were drawn out of a hat and matched.
But yeah, that was the problem with BoB Cosmic. I think it becomes very difficult to trust the legitimacy of the tournament when its run by goons and PL. Its nothing personal against them, its just a potential conflict of interests.

I agree, I suggest we all make sure that these alliances, that are really big and skilled, never host a AT again, they should just do it themselves, no obligations to anyone that is in the tournament or have been in that alliance on e time or another.
PL, Hydra, Goons, Should never, ever host or even speak on EVE tv again. CCP should do it themselves with a few females tbh. Ask some questions.
If alliances take this tourney so seriously, I think CCP better start as well.

The issue is whether the draw was, in fact, legitimate. There are any number of ways the draw could have been fixed. Whether the tournament can ever be taken seriously again depends on if the brackets truly were a matter of happy circumstance for HYDRA or not. CCP needs to confirm the draw was not tampered with.

They weren't. Brackets were anounced in advance here in the format of "1st place group A VS 2nd place group B" etc. Outbreak worked with razor in their final group stage match to ensure that they met the conditions needed to be on different sides of the brackets, aka hydra either becomming #1 or #2 in their group and Outbreak making sure to get #2 if hydra got #1, or get #1 if hydra got #2.

Or they just cut this bull of 'buying in' to where you don't even need to participate in a chunk of the tourny because you dumped in an absurd amount of ISK. If Goonswarm has a team, I think it should be more than fair that they're just as vulnerable in the start as anyone else.
Also, null-sec players as PVP experts who can't register what a cap-chain is in a setup that only allows one logistics shouldn't be on the table. Shadoo was up there because of ARMOR HACS, the Goon was up there because he's a goon. Simple as that.

Yes, just read Duncan's explanation. So the tournament can be rigged within the rules by the players. Looks like the problem is the qualifying rounds which enable bracket fixing.

I do not think so. You do not need to be a genius to play a video game very good. It might help, but it is certainly not necessary and can neither be the goal of the producer of a MMO. I can understand, some kids, who waste way too much of their time in said game, love to think, it is different and you need to be a genius indeed to play their favorite game.
Think about it.
