Just once though I'd like to see a patch deployed within the allotted time. I mean come on, surely CCP are doing dry runs on SIT/UAT servers before going live, they surely have an actual clue as to how long it takes? Seems to me we get less actual game time per month whilst paying the same amount.
Eh, stop complaining. there are technical thigns at play that go wrong, the bigger the patch, the more likely its DT will be trippled. Besides, everyone knows its not patch release, its patch week.
you don't lose that much time playing eve, look at the PSN, and imagine how WoW players feel when they lost their game for a whole week, child rage. lol.
anyway, stop your pointless whining, in the last 2 months the only real DT I've suffered is incarna and I planned that it would take at least 2 days to get working.
Eh, this is why you have dress rehearsals, to root out any problems so you can be prepared for them. Currently we're about 8 hours down which, for those of us who work in the same timezone as EVE runs essentially means a full day after you take sleep and working hours into account. And there's been plenty of outages this month. Granted, they usually come back up fairly quick after an emergency reboot or w/e but still, cutting into already short window of playing time. I'd love to see CCP do the next major patch during US time, THEN you'd seem some whining!
hey thats a good one .. I play eve until I need to go to bed to wake up early enough for work on next morning - and CCP has over 17 hours to deploy the patch . (i leave at 2200 utc and come from work around 1600 utc next afternoon) . i really dont understand why its always the europeans suffering the most - you come from work and ccp cuts the few hours left of the day by their crappy patch politics

evemon. bottom left corner of it's window shows current EVE time. else, there are a dozen widget clocks on the market (incl freeware ones) that will show you 2 clocks, one with local time and one with EVE time ( or any other 2 time zones you want). try cnet.com, never had any trouble there.
The forums need a EVE clock :(
they have ... just make a fresh post and you see the EVE-Time when you created it
finaly someone that isnt a complete ADHD ****** that dosent notice the time above the post.

I actually prefer the current arrangement, because that way I get to watch people like you having amusing tantrums about the fact you're missing a few minutes of internet spaceships.

I think people post this just to entice rage :)
It's easy to know how much more time if you just switch your clock to UTC (GMT) time. Or you know, use some basic math skills.
21:30 (subtract 12 if you don't understand military time)
If you're in the eastern time zone, with daylight savings, it's EDT which means -0400 GMT.
21:30 - 04:00 == 17:30 - 12 == 5:30pm EDT
Or you know... you could always use Google to find stuff like this: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html

$15 a month is 50 cents a day. even if you run two clients you're losing out on a dollar.
if you seriously consider that a big deal considering the updates themselves are free, leave the game and go find a better job.
So CCP are gaining 50c a day for each player in Eve - How many is that now? 240,000 - you do the math
they're not gaining it because it still costs them the same amount in infrastructure, bandwidth, payroll, taxes, utilities, marketing and development when the server is down.
It's a business, people. They're not here to entertain you out of the goodness of their hearts. It's two cents per hour. People need to quit their *****ing about the lost money. I know it's inconvenient and you want to play a video game but *****ing about the money is simply ******ed.
First world problems indeed.

It might have something to do with the fact that TQ's hardware has changed radically in recent times.
That, and CCP are just optimists. You'd think by now people would just add extra time onto DT regardless of what CCP says.
I do add time onto what CCP says add 25% then that's when it could be up double that time and that's when it will most probably be up

the annoying problem isnt the long downtime, but extending it ever and ever... better say: we are online tomorrow, again... but that's a kind of ****ty... cause as I know you ccp guys at 21:30 u say extended to 22:00 and than 23:00... I don't know the problems an online game can occur but can't you guess a little bit better?

I love reading the forums during patch day. You whinging feckwits need to leave EVE and play something that allows for the diminished attention span you apparently have. Maybe Snap or tiddlywinks. I would like to come to your supermarket where you stack shelves and moan that the cans of beans aren't straight.
reiterating other adults on the forums. Do something else or enjoy other people showing how immature they can be by venting their pre-pubescent selves in public.

Seriously, can we add a link to a world clock as a sticky?
I'm more worried about the Greek economy than whether eve gets delayedby another hour. Back to the BBC.
