From the patch notes:
"NPCs will now correctly aggress a decloaking ship"
Anyone have any idea what this means, exactly?

Good question. I would guess that if you enter a site you're to be immediately aggressed? If that is the case then yes, ninja salvaging is dead unless you want to do it in a pimped out mission runner.

I think that would require a change to the NPC mission AI, which may be indicated by that line in the patch notes, but hell who knows?
It would be a nice change, as Ninja salvagers for the most part are ****y little bastards that could use some agro to make them cautious and not take everything for granted.

Have no fear, this will not affect ninja salvaging.
If you're using a cloak to ninja, you're doing it wrong.

Being a former ninja looter, I rarely had a missioner take advantage of the aggro that I gave him. In the 2 instances in a 8 months long, very profitable period for me, one guy shoot at me, missed, I came back and killed him. The other instance was an entire corp playing grab ass trying to catch me, which they eventually did, but it was extremely fun.
So I think I can say with a certain amount of experience to back it up, is what you missioners need is to grow a pair.

Don't worry. I'll still be there in your missions.

This is assuming the ninja looters/salvagers come in during the mission and there are NPCs that have not already targetted the mission runner. However, as mentioned above, why would you cloak to ninja? I suspect this is more for NPCs at gates and decloaking in WH sites.

Yes, but it begs the question: Does aggro switch when you enter the mission site as well as decloak?
It could be a buff to PVE space other than hisec. I can't speak for losec/nullsec but for w-space, aggro switches from the initial target to someone who decloaks, although it's not immediate. So without further clarification I don't think we will know exactly what that means.

Edited by: Sarmatiko on 21/06/2011 15:07:49 This will affect lvl 5 on stealth bombers, not ninjas. As mentioned before if you fitting cloak on your ninja-mobile - you doing this wrong and you probably die anyway from npc. My ninja Vigil flying on ab for about 1600-1800 m/s was able to tank full aggro without any problem. Dont think something changed in 2 years from that moment.

I think you guys misunderstood that. I think what they meant is that you as the mission runner get aggro correctly when entering the mission. I don't think the npcs will switch more than they already do because of a recent patch.
I think that by entering the mission cloaked it messed with the starting aggro but I could be wrong.

I would need to run missions for that to work.
Just as an aside, it seems that lowsec probers might be impacted by this. I have always used a cloaked covops to scan down mission runners outside of high sec space. It would be great if the npc agro would be random though, as it would make everything regarding missions more dynamic and less afk-able.

You have no idea what you talking about. There was problem with t3 neut sentries - their aggro was random on some mission, so your survival chances was good if that happened. There is still full aggro from all npcs in the pocket, and you still needed to speedtank and kite them, killing the objective triggers. You still can run solo lvl 5 on SB but now with more risk . Or you can bring dramiel speedtankiing all npc on lvl 5 mission and kill them with SB on second account. Problem solved.

never did it myself, so sorry no butthurt here
but there's plenty of youtube videos about it and one of my corpies did manage to pull off a solo SB lvl V mission.
I could care less actually, I just think its funny how many of you putzes get all bent up over someone spending an insane amount of time soloing a mission
