- No new gameplay-features added - Only one out of four CQs got finished (which doesn't add gameplay features either, it only looks "kind of fancy") - Still no interaction with other player's avatars - ONE new ship model - Still no missile bays - No new ships added - CCP tries to milk its players for money by introducing microtransaction - Patch notes say: "Dogma, the process that handles attributes on items and how they are modified, was massively re-engineered. This change shouldnÆt affect players or change gameplay in any way but is the groundwork for features in following releases."
Oh wow, so you will probably be able to buy new overpowered modules for your internetspaceships via Aurum, which you are supposed to create by converting PLEX you created with RL-Cash.
If I REALLY wanted to spend my RL Cash on internet fashion pixels and want to ****wave around other player's avatars with my fancy overpriced clothing, I'd play Second Life. But no, I play EVE because of the internet spaceships gameplay - and this expansion has done next to nothing to it.
WTB the 2003-Dominion Dev Team, at least they added GOOD gameplay features.

The in-game vanity items are purchased with a in-game currency that is obtained via PLEX. Real life cash does not have to be involved.

PLEX can be purchased from ISK. Some people buy GTCs with real money and convert them into PLEX, for use or to sell. Others buy PLEXes with ISK. A large number of people pay for their EVE accounts by buying PLEXes with the large amounts of ISK they generate. Myself included.

Really? What a life you must have to complain about another free improvement. Did your parents not hit you enough or something?
Do you think that changing the entire game is some simple task? They could have just pulled the plug on Eve and started creating a completely different game, but they chose to be loyal to their customers and add the new CONTENT as a free expansion..once again. You think they are milking you for money? Don't ****ing spend the money. It is not required to play and in no way are they forcing you to do it.
They have explained in more than enough detail that this expansion will take some time and a few phases to implement. Anyone with half the IQ necessary for normal bodily function should be able to see that what they are doing here is an extremely difficult and significant upgrade and modification to this game.
Your post is just pointless drivel about things you obviously don't understand at all. There is absolutely nothing for you to complain about here, period. STFU you dumb little child.

That is the point, don't you see? He is complaining about having to spend his own real life cash for vanity items when that isn't the case. The entire point made is that the individual player can decide how to acquire the vanity items, not how PLEXes make it to the market.
If you disagree, or if my words were not written clearly enough, then there's little else to discuss.

Actually it IS the point. Nobody is forcing you to buy plex dumbass. You could just pay a monthly subscription like EVERY OTHER MMO worth playing. I buy my plex with ISK and none of my RL money is being spent. Who cares how they got there in the first place? If you don't want to spend the cash, spend the ISK. If you don't have either then you can sit around in your pod begging for cash...just like people who don't have money in real life. You don't pay, you don't play.

/sarcasm off
Seriously if CCP were to introduce ships and modules that are "overpowered", and there has been no evidence to say that they will, how is this any different then buying PLEX with RL cash, selling in eve for isk and then buying officer mods?
Also no one is forcing you to buy clothes for your avatar. CCP is only milking you if you let them.

As the CCP devs said in a video. This update is basically a platform to create much more content. Just look to the future when the cross game interaction will come through this expansion allows that.
This basically just sows the seeds of creativity and possibilities for future patches expansions and additions.
In 2003 there was very little, now there is masses of content just from 1 game mechanic.
Eve has always been a game for the patient.

No, YOU don't get it. Previous expansions were ALL about improving the space-side gameplay of EVE. EVE is changing to the worse, this is just the first step. I wonder when we will see the next expansion that will be focused on space-gameplay (well, except for Dust). As I said, i want to fly my ships, have awesome new gameplay mechanics added like CCP did before, not playing an entirely different game. Also, cool ad hominem bro, that just shows how you can even bring up good and valid arguments.

Isn't this part 1 of the Incarna release? The micro transactions are for vanity items. They wont give a leg up on the gameplay. Now if they start affecting gameplay I'll be ****ed, but now I'm just going to keep having fun with my Corp mates blowing up other peoples ships. Free expansion...They could be like WoW and charge for it, but they dont.
I don't care about the avatars, or CQ. Is it cool? yeah. Are the new turrents sweet? Yeah. Do I care about customizing my toon? No. Hell, I just hit random a bunch of times are got what I have now.
I will be interested to see what part 2 of the Incrana release, but for now...I'm going to play with the CQ for abit...Then go back out and play Eve and pew pew.

Not only that...but
People now have a way of obtaining anything in game via RL Cash.....
The US Market HATES cash shop mmorpg. So they cant just release straight up cash shops.
But, if they put one simple step inbetween RL Monies and in game stuff, will anyone notice?
Im guessin the first thread that puts 2 and 2 together will get BOMBARDED by "whine looflecopters...."

WTB a brain cell to keep the other one you have company. Since it has clearly escaped your attention, CCP no longer release full expansions in one big chunk, rather they now release them as "iterations". You get the initial release, followed by 2 or 3 of these "iterations" which all add up to an expansion. This practice first started with Incursions and was deemed successful enough that it has been adopted as the format for ALL future releases.
Perhaps if you spent more time learning to read, and less time carefully crafting tin foil hats you might learn something.

Ever thought of ignoring Incarna, and simply focus on the spaceship part of EVE? Incarna will only come to play when you are docked, and there you can still use all the old buttons. So you dont have to walk an inch in Incarna. And I guess Aurum "overpowered" stuff will be put out in Contracts and the Market. So I guess you will sooner or later get some yourself.
So ignore Incarna, and siply see this downtime as a chance to go outside and get some sun on your pale skin. |

The difference is that when someone buys a PLEX sell it for ISK and get officer mods it lowers the price of PLEX and makes the game cheaper for the rest of us. Especially the dude selling the officer mod...
With AUR the PLEX will just go poof which means that BOUGHT GAME TIME is being destroyed making the game more expensive to play for those paying in ISK. If everyone where to blow up there PLEX like this CCP should however make enough from these "donations" to lower the subscription and GTC price ... but how likely is that ...

Free Expansion I don't think you understand the reason why CCP incorporated the NeX/Aurum. Akita T (a very respectable member of the EVE-O forums) made this clear before.

If you disagree, or if my words were not written clearly enough, then there's little else to discuss.
Hello there, you seem to have a strong case of the stupid; I suggest you take a long lie down away from a computer so we dont have to read anything you type for a while.
Try and understand that without real world currency being pumped into CCPs pockets, be it fancy dollars or shiny euros, no Aurum would exist to buy your dapper dan space flatcap, or your PVC-look figure hugging catsuit. Personally, I dont think that content 100% reliant on extra payments beyond your subscription fee should be lauded or encouraged in any shape or form, and it is quite revealing as to the future direction of this game.
Remember when CCP used to release expansions free of charge? That time is over, pay-for-content has arrived
THIS is what the OP was trying to make you understand.
What the OP wasnt debating that you have no life outside EVE and play the game for hours upon hours grinding up enough isk to pay for a monthly subscription using PLEX bought from the market; thats a given.
Saying you play the game for free by buying plex is the same as saying minerals you mine are free is the same as saying you have a 'choice' to not use AUR when buying barbie doll clothes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - OLD FORUM I ♥ YOU, NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN! |

OP pretty quick jumping in with the damning indictment of Incarna when the servers aren't even up. Seeing as we don't pay any extra for the "expansions" I find it hard to agree with his criticisms. Aurum is a fairly innocuous method of microtransaction when you compare it with other games where you are virtually forced to shell out the money in order just to be competitive. There is absolutely NO reason to partake of the system unless you are into dressing up barbie dolls.
Personally I just hope that the CQ module doesn't end up being such a huge resource hog demanding cutting edge hardware that it affects the new player uptake of the game or indeed puts off existing players who are not into upgrading their systems every year. -----

You do realize that vanity items, along with the CQ is completely optional. Noone is forcing you to purchase vanity items and no one is forcing you to enter CQ (there is an option do disable CQ from the ESC menu, putting you back to the hangar only view)

Speaking as someone who is quite looking forward to Incarna (if the servers ever come back up) I do need to point out that itÆs not free. We are paying a monthly subscription and expansions are part of a paid service. ItÆs true that WoW charge about ú20 for major expansions but WoW is also about ú4 per month cheaper to play. Just saying, the OP has a right to their opinion and that people shouting him/her down saying itÆs free expansion donÆt really have an argument.

-Incarna has been on Duality and SiSi for quite some time now, patch notes are public as well -Incarna will make the PLEX prices go poof, forcing more players to pay with a real life currency instead of PLEX -As said before, the only reason Aurum exists is this ^. It doesn't matter if YOU take part in dressing up barbie dolls, other people will, causing the PLEX prices to skyrocket -CCP still has the option to add items for AUR, which are vital for staying competitive (see the DOGMA changes in the patch notes)
-It will sure as hell waste development resources that would be better off elsewhere. Also some people already have reported their graphics card doesnt support the new CQ

@OP ;
First things first, - People that complain that their computer can't handle CQ are lazy and dumb or both. They can turn off CQ in the main menu "Loading station enviroment" causes to load CQ. Turn this off and there's no QQ about it. If they want it, they should get a better computer. - The actual release of Incarna is in my honest opinion the best ever done by CCP. Besides the fact we are finally getting Walking in Stations, EVE has also reached another level. Besides the internet spaceships we can walk around, it might be just cosmetic but it's getting somewhere. Also I'm 100% sure that CQ's will someway work together with DUST514. - CCP knows if they'd release ships and items that improve gameplay in any way for any player which can only be bought with the new currency they'll lose players. - The new currency does indeed skyrocket PLEX prices, FOR NOW. CCP cleary stated that they WILL monitor the PLEX prices closely and if the prices get out of hand they'll seed it onto the market or take other actions to make sure the regular player can still buy a PLEX without working 4 weeks for it. Your statement that the new currency will take down the gameplay and fawk up PLEX's is completely rubbish and weak. - Don't forget the new turrents they're releasing. It's maybe not an incredible change but it's something. Somehow you QQ'ers seem to QQ at every patch CCP releases. Fawk off. - The CQ's spice the game up a bit, making it realistic and more connected to eachother by Live-feeds and better interaction between NPC's and players. Also this is just the ground for later releases.

Thats an assumption. There is no way of knowing how the pricing for PLEX will be effected. Now, it's true that it might cause pricing to increase. But it's also possible that price for PLEX will go down depending on the demand and how many units of PLEX are out there. It might cause people to throw a ton of PLEX into the game causing a shift that makes PLEX cheaper. Or it might cause a lot of PLEX to be bought up and cause PLEX pricing to skyrocket due to less stock and more demand. It's anyone's guess. We'll only have to wait and see.

I see the point just fine. You are crying because not every aspect of this expansion is catering to your dreams of escaping reality through a video game. If you watch the future vision videos and read the dev blogs, there is plenty of progress being made on 2 fronts. Stop your ****ing crying and appreciate that they put all of this time and effort into the game for you. Nothing that they are adding is going to take away from what you already do, it is just expanding the game beyond what it has ever been. You can only add so much to flying around in space....

it is a pretty crappy expansion incarna is pretty worthless and basically only adds eye candy so far. however, it might bring more players. most people dont want their character to be a ship or a pod, they want a person they can do stuff with, no matter how minor. the only thing i dont like is that we have to use CQ, i think incarna should be 100% optional, i liked spinning my ship.
OP's point about extremely little content is true despite the incarna kids posting nonsense at him, but its ONLY bad because incursion was kinda dumb IMO, if you dont care about incursions ( like me) it offers nothing to you which means if ur like me, its been like a year since we had content.

People who use mommy's credit card to pay for a sub or work as a fry cook won't be able to take advantage of it in the same way that people with decent jobs do; a nice way to level the playing field since some of us don't get 16 hours a day free time to grind ISK.

Oh wow, so you will probably be able to buy new overpowered modules for your internetspaceships via Aurum, which you are supposed to create by converting PLEX you created with RL-Cash.

WTB the 2003-Dominion Dev Team, at least they added GOOD gameplay features.
STFU you dumb little child.
so what your saying is you think even once the incarna patches are finished it will add more to the game than WH space or any other expansion, and the improvement arnt free we pay near 15 euros a month which seeing as for most games you only pay $5 a month and then you have to buy new games ok eve take more upkeep than most games but euros 10 is probably enough to run the serves and the extra 4.5 a month over 6 months = 27 euro's and considering most mmos only upgrade every 2 years or so because they change near everything it probably adds up to the same work that goes into 2 6month expansions so thats 54 euros a year you pay for expansions so don't say its free we damn well pay for it.
so you stop attacking people when you plainly dont know what your talking about
and we never said that adding incarna didn't take a LOT of work, building a skysc****r out of **** would take a lot of effort but it would still be ****.
and i dont complain just to complain i turly think the money would have been better spent on doing something else.

Correction: people hate change for the worse. Good change is always welcomed.
They don't like any change period. Good or Bad is irrelevent. People complain just to complain. Even when something REALLY IS good, they complain because it doesn't work the exact way they want it too. It's even better when they complain about a change that they aren't even forced to use. That entertains me the most I think. Honestly I hated Incursion because it didn't really add much for me, since thats not in my gameplay style BUT, I didn't complain because I knew that even though I may never get into Incursion, someone else would and it's good for them to get something out of it. Either way you guys against Incarna are very entertaining during this downtime. Please continue. On with the show!!

I have 17M, can I help?
All kidding aside, to all the haters: this expansion will bring great things especially to attract a fresh player base which is what is direly needed. Not saying that vets are not cool - ya(we) are! But we need to get new players involved, and IMHO the best way to do this is via better immersion and I think this expansion does just that via better player interaction. So thank you CCP for keeping up the great work.
We know that there are still a ton of fixes that need to occur - especially when it comes to game balance, better ships, etc, etc - but these things will come even if frag-mentally over time. I for one have enjoyed Eve and will continue to bid my money for one of the best MMO's out there. Quite yer *****in', and get back to playin' .

I'd like to point out that the monthly fee for WoW is the same price as the monthly fee for EVE. Both are $14.95 a month for USD.

Oh god, there is so much wrong with this statement. 1. Buying ISK with PLEX doesn't create in-game items such as modules out of thin air. 2. If you need to play 16h a day for buying a PLEX you are doing something wrong. 3. Buying PLEX, converting them to AUR and buying items on NeX DOES create items out of thin air, game wise. 4. The impact this will have on the economy is yet to be seen - but as M&D has already predicted, it would change EVE's economy (and therefore the sandbox) to the worse, since you won't be able to create those items without paying for them with cash. 5. As a result for this PLEX prices rise, mineral and "normal" item prices will go down. See where this is going? 5. PLEX was created to counter RMT, whereas AUR is for filling CCP's pockets.

For your location, EVE is 14.95 euros.
For my location, EVE is $14.95 USD. Evidence: http://i.imgur.com/kGwpB.jpg
It is the same price as WoW for anyone using USD. The price discrepancy for EU players should be compared to the 14.95 euros for the EU World of Warcraft.

Free? You mean like mining?
Where do you think the money for the developer's salaries is coming from? They could have hired a contract development team to code version 1 of Eve then retain only a skeleton-staff for support and maintenance. Then we'd all pay less each month for a game that grows rapidly out-of-date. Instead, we pay a higher subscription each month to enable CCP to retain a team of developers that will continually update the game.
In other words, we already paid for this upgrade, even if we didn't want it.
So it's not "Free". Like mining.
Anyhow, the OP is right. They should continue making the updates optional, like wormholes or PI - there for them that wants it.
And when are we going to get a trader's update? We traders spend all our time keeping the in-game markets running efficiently but we still aren't even provided with covered shorts or a centrally brokered stock exchange. Sheesh, it shouldn't be that difficult to integrate Eve corporation shares into the market and would add a whole new dimension to investment and corporation management. We could then walk in stations with bundles of ISK to splash around like the Earthbound fat-cats of yore.

Wow, since this is quoted so much, let me fix this for you: Hi we're going to remodel your house and also build an extension, but for it to work right we need to make you pay for it with PLEX, otherwise this won't be of use to you, this of course is at some cost to you and gives you some bad, not needed updates to your existing structure.

Edited by: Tesuil on 21/06/2011 18:15:01 I suspect a lot of the complaining on here has little to with the expansion, and has probably a lot to with the fact the expansion is causing the server to be down and some of you are having to find other ways to entertain yourselves!
However,
I am lucky enough that 2 of my 3 accounts are paid for via isk bought plex, something anyone is allowed to do.... unless you play most other pay to play MMO's.
And I would happily pay for all 3 accounts because compared to EVE most of the MMO's i've played are very poor, eve is the most challenging, requires actual planning and strategy ( and i don't mean strategy as in ... mob hits tank, dps hits mob, healer heals tank... strategy my ass) and can be the most rewarding... imagine being someone like Chribba who has contributed some much to the game and ultimately must get an awful lot from it, we all have the option to follow paths like that.
I embrace any expansion offered in my gaming, it means the games not dead.... I can pick and choose wether I wish to use CQ and I can also pick and choose wether I wish to purchase vanity items... my only concerns will come if game changing ship releases come via vanity payment, but I would like to believe CCP are a little brighter than that.
Realistically though, if anyone really strongly objects to what CCP have put into place with this expansion, I can't say i'm too sympathetic, it's not suddenly been imposed, you've had a long time to raise your objections. And if you had raised them and the expansions gone ahead anyway its probably because most people are happy with it. You have the choice to walk away from the game at any point.... but I suspect we'll actually see you in a pink neon armageddon very soon!

It does seem a bit unfair. But, as I mentioned, the EU World of Warcraft is the same price as what EU pays for EVE.

STFU you dumb little child.
so what your saying is you think even once the incarna patches are finished it will add more to the game than WH space or any other expansion, and the improvement arnt free we pay near 15 euros a month which seeing as for most games you only pay $5 a month and then you have to buy new games ok eve take more upkeep than most games but euros 10 is probably enough to run the serves and the extra 4.5 a month over 6 months = 27 euro's and considering most mmos only upgrade every 2 years or so because they change near everything it probably adds up to the same work that goes into 2 6month expansions so thats 54 euros a year you pay for expansions so don't say its free we damn well pay for it.
so you stop attacking people when you plainly dont know what your talking about
I really must be in the wrong country is it only costs you guys in europe $5 a month for MMO games. Man, it's like $10-$15 here for every MMO and expansions tend to be about $30-$50 give or take. You guys wanna switch me?
sorry i havent looked at other MMO's for years shiz they used to cost something like that but other mmos are not $15 a month there around $12 - $13 and eve as standard is $20 so you still pay for expansions
Most of the MMO's I've seen here in the US are either $10 or $15 a month. Also, in the US EVE is only $15 a month, not $20.

CCP would certainly try to sell new ships for AUR. It's more cash for them. It's like saying nobody is paying for special items in F2P-games. CCP seeding PLEX is the single most dumbest thing I've ever heard in that thread. They would give away game-time and not get any RL money in return. So that's not gonna happen. Oh wow, new turrets. Sure, this change is SUPER AWESOME!!!!1. Come one, it may be nice, but not what I call an "EVE expansion". You obviously weren't around when the "new" engine was released we have right now. Also, there still is no interaction between players and NPCs. You still go to your agent, ask for a mission and complete it. Same as before. The live feeds don't change anything either, because they were already incorporated in the game, you just might have not noticed them.

You have obviously no idea for how long Incarna has been in development? http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=777 August 2010
No clearly I haven't, even though I have been in EVE since mid 2005. What is obvious is that you have zero idea precisely why Incarna has taken as long as it has.

So starting a new character now starts you out of your pod and in your CQ, that's a pretty appealing change there for new players.
I find it slightly interesting, it may give new players and even greater association with there avatar and that means more tears for us when we kill them and send them back to farmville.

I think it's already a better expansion then the PI clickfest thing. Never understood that it took 6 months to make with a whole design team.
And we are only at stage 1 of Incarna.

There are obviously people who understand the game's economy better than you do. They made billions (some even trillions) from predicting the impact a patch will have on the economy.

I love how often the word free is thrown around, its not like i pay 360 dollars a year on this game or anything, which is enough to buy 5-6 expansions per year of any other game. Everyone acts like they are doing us such a huge favor by adding new content,if they didn't add anything new the game would have died a long time ago and probably the company with it.
Personally i couldn't care less about walking in stations, the new maller looks cool but i doubt i will be flying it, the turrets seem good though.

What I am saying is that Incarna is the begninning of what is necessary to expand Eve beyond what it is currently capable of. You can only build so much on a single foundation. The only other options are to build a new structure (scrap Eve and force people who like the genre to buy a new product like every other MMO), or expand the current foundation to support more construction. Option B benefits all of the Eve players far more than option 1. The simple truth is that the people here who are whining are simply just ignorant.

Many consider Red Moon Rising as one of the best expansions, but they were either not around when the patch was deployed or have forgotten what happened. TQ was offline for a day and when the server came online, it was practically unplayable, with horrible lag, even in empty systems. Not to mention, that EVE had more bugs then Klendathu after the release. It took CCP a week to fix the expansion into something that could be enjoyed.

Devs said they would make different ships available for purchase via NeX. One of them is the Ishukone Watch Scorpion. The problem is that it wouldn't use up a normal Scorpion previously built by players, nor a blueprint generated by - for example - LP in a LP store.

Where was it posted that it would be 17:00 UTC? It's been set for 19:00 since 2 weeks ago (when it showed up on the EVE calendar? (posted by CCP on the calandar at 6/5/2011 if I recall. Download was clearly labeled at 14 hours)
Uh..on the front page.
"Incarna 1.0 is scheduled for deployment during an extended downtime on Tuesday, June 21. Downtime will begin at 07:00 UTC and is expected to be completed by 17:00 UTC."
"Incarna 1.0 is currently being deployed. The database updates are taking longer than expected, and therefore the downtime has been extended. We expect to open Tranquility to the players at 21:00 UTC. Thank you for your understanding."

Heck, don't I know this! Heh, I'm a professional developer (nothing as large as EVE) but I'll tell you what, no matter what you do, big or small, there will always be that group that will complain complain complain. Even with it's a perfect deployment and works very well (and isn't forced). I remember when we added something as simple as using [ctrl] + [c] for copy and paste to a teacher application we had built, the users were complaining because they didn't want to use the keyboard for that. It's like, "ok, then use the menu like you always do. We aren't forcing you to use the keyboard". CCP has always done a great job. I can't say that I have enjoyed every patch (wasn't into Incursion) but thats ok, I'm not being forced to do Incursions so I'm ok with that. Diminion was the most recent one I really liked. Been waiting for Incarna for while though.

Devs said they would make different ships available for purchase via NeX. One of them is the Ishukone Watch Scorpion. The problem is that it wouldn't use up a normal Scorpion previously built by players, nor a blueprint generated by - for example - LP in a LP store.
Was this in some kind of written post or just something that was said somewhere on video? I don't remember hearing that so thats why I was asking. If it was in a video do you happen to have a link for it? I'd like to view it.

Just noticed... the new Incarna store (AKA the bringer of the end of eve, operation Moneybags-4-CCP, etc) has a Iskuone Scorpion in it right? I just checked the linked patch notes for Tyrannis(has been a while for sure), and what do I see?
"The feature list for Tyrannis so far: New texture technologies and a new Scorpion model"
What is CCPs fascination with the Scorpion? Why does it get all the love? They nerf ECM, then we get constantly re-modeled and re-skinned Scorpions?
Remove scorpions from the game TBH, just so that some other ships can get some love : /

Put it back into the context of the post I was replying to and then try again.
Not everyone plays Eve and utilizes every aspect of the game. That does not mean the game is ruined by the other aspects that are out there that they just so happen to not care for. I pay $14 a month for the parts of Eve I enjoy playing, why would I give a **** if they added more content that I didn't care for as long as it does not take away from the content I do care for? Anyone who does care is simply just stupid.

Sorry Luna Serp, Khefira is right on this one. You pay for the expansion, you just don't shell out $40 all at once to do it. They pay for the development out of the money they make from EVE. You pay for the expansion indirectly, it isn't as though CCP sets up a charity on the side who works free to produce expansions. Different business models than other MMOs, but the same end result.

When put into context? No, i just checked, CCP is still charging 15$. The only MMO I'm familiar with is WOW. They are charging for expansions, yes. But you can't compare those to EVE. WOW expansions focus on content for players who reached the level cap. CCP tries to make their playerbase larger. Larger playerbase means more money from subscriptions, so they are getting both their money with new expansions.
Also mainstream MMOs that do charge nothing for expansions: -Runescape (F2P) -Everquest (P2P)
I'm sure there are more. Just two examples, should be enough to prove my point.

CCP:s expansions are really content patches. Hence those do not cost extra. Wormhole/T3 patch was only one I might call small expansion pack since it actually had decent chunk of new content.

I'm not that bothered by vanity items. I might buy them or not, depending on what they are or how they look. And I will buy them for RL cash as I prefer grinding in the office to grinding in Eve (you know, 1h of office grind can buy you many plexes). What bothers me is that MT might start to encroach on Eve proper. Now it's skirts, high hills and Lous Vuitton bags, but that can easily be premium boosters, "improved" modules and premium ammo. That will be the point where Eve will start losing its appeal.

IMHO it is a good thing that this expansion is "free". I would struggle to find a good reason to purchase it for US$5. Having said that I would have no issue with paying for prior expansions. So for the people out there who are defending this latest update how much is the expansion worth to you?

Sorry, just frustration. I pretty much gave up on 2 other games because they kept doing these big for future development point of view - not much in game play but just you wait...patches. After 8 freakin years (not Eve, the other games) you actually need to put on some big gameplay changes SOMETIME. If you don't, I start to question whether your 'big dev changes' are really all that big or impressive...(i.e. you are lying to me).
I'm starting to get this particular odor from Eve now as well.

I love how you completely tip-toed around the vanity stripper pole. When that happens all the PLEXes will be consumed in purchase of this grand item. I hope it comes with a NPC dancer.

I agree, the path of EVE's development is paved with broken promises and abandoned features.
T3 (missing subsystems, t3 frigates?) FW (They couldn't even be bothered to show up to the fanfest FW panel) PI COSMOS Wormholes (and the associated storyline that has never been unraveled or revealed) Incursions (other than balancing they are the same now as when they were put in)

TQ was offline for a day and when the server came online, it was practically unplayable, with horrible lag, even in empty systems. Not to mention, that EVE had more bugs then Klendathu after the release. It took CCP a week to fix the expansion into something that could be enjoyed.
People these days are just whiney little ****s that don't have the slightest idea what it takes to make something like Eve happen and to keep it happening for years.
Not one person in here could create something like Eve, let alone any product that is perfect that nobody would complain about.
I think it is repulsive that you ****ing humans complain when you are given something for nothing. If you don't like the new features, DON'T ****ING USE THEM. They are not taking anything away from anyone...simply adding more.
Is it more that you babies feel like your not as good at life because somebody in a game has an item that you don't have?
Wow, you sure are mad as hell. Also you should finally get it. EVE isn't something we get for free. We aren't getting the expansions for free either. We have to pay a subscription for it. If your meal is ****, you don't thank the cook for making it either, right? (Let's say dessert, EVE is great, this expansion isn't)
You pay $14(US) a month to play with or without expansions. They did not charge you any extra for the expansion so therefore it is free. Care to continue splitting hairs and looking like an idiot?
What about this expansion is taking anything away from Eve as it is now? Nothing. Period. You don't have to participate in the new additions.
If the cook makes you a 7 course dinner and you chose to only eat 5 courses... I don't see how they are making your meal **** by placing more food in front of you AT NO EXTRA COST without forcing you to eat it.....Do you really think you are some kind of victim here?
Being on the subject of idiots, it takes a really thick one to try to make us swallow that CCP doesnt market the game as the sub price, and you get a free expansion every 6 months. So if the expansion sucks (which is up for debate) then its not like you get what was promised, so people are entitled to ***** and complain.

STFU you dumb little child.
why oh why do you and others say free upgrade ? you pay ú15 a month for the game ... times that by how many accounts and see how much ccp is making ... nothing is ever free my friend . they made this upgrade because they want to make more money .. hence the goundbreaking ****ty avatars and cpt room ... so once more ccp do not listen to us but rather the all mighty cash cow .. now why in the world would they throw a money making mule away ?? how else do you think they run such a huge team and still make money ... lol fools

You have to agree about what? Fact: Eve does not charge extra for expansions. We all pay the same regardless. Fact: ALL other mainstream MMOs charge for expansions beyond the normal monthly subscription which is used also for paying for servers, electricity, staff..etc. You must be one ****ty Landlady if this whole concept is beyond you....

Everquest expansions DO cost money. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. |

This is the first step to Eve online going free to play. The industry has already proven that the only way for a MMORPG company to sustain itself in the current market is to go free to play and sell all good items for RL money. The biggest hurdle CCP is now facing is that once they do announce the game is free to play how do you handle the influx of users onto a single server system. It's just a matter of time before CCP announce that Eveonline has gone free to play, how else can they justify Dust 514 on PS3 when PS3 users will not have to pay to play there game. I like the new upgrade, CCP has finally acknowledge the fact that people want to have immersion of character in their MMORPG. Up until now the learning curve and the gameplay were enough. Now that eve is becoming mainstream and will be introduced to the consule marketplace CCP will need to improve immersion for the drop in age group and maturity that will have to occur when consule players flood into Eve after there introduction to the game by Dust 514. CCP's sell out to SOE is probably the worst move they could have made from a dedicated PC MMORPG market. SOE will buy Eve from CCP and it will be SWG all over again.

If you weren't so wrapped up in yourself and your $14 dollars you might start to appreciate that it's the players that make Eve what it is and it is in your best interest that they continue to do so. But what should you care? If everybody left and you had New Eden all to yourself wouldn't it be great! You'd have won the game.

The in-game vanity items are purchased with a in-game currency that is obtained via PLEX. Real life cash does not have to be involved.

It means that CCP prefer Euro that's all. The only reason you are paying less at the moment is because your precious US dollar has lost around 50% of it's value since CCP artificially set the exchange rate at parity.
That will soon change. Given the direction of CCP's quest for revenue growth it is ludicrous in the extreme to expect they will adjust their EURUSD rates in favour of giving a discount on the Euro price. So you can look forward in the near future to a large subscription hike to compensate CCP for all the value they lost by holding dollars.
At the moment EUans are subsidizing you. Does that make you proud?
For myself, having a little RL experience of international finance, I use an exchange rate arbitrage strategy to get the lowest subscription fees of all. I pay from an account domiciled in Switzerland, which is not in the EU so I get charged in dollars. Now, the Swiss Franc is just about the strongest currency in the world, especially in times of crisis, and as a result the USDCHF exchange rate as collapsed to record lows. So i pay about 12.56 CHF at the moment whereas I used to pay 18. Not a bad discount, thanks to the collapsing USD. I've heard that in some hotels in Geneva they are offering guests the option to have freshly-minted dollar bills instead of toilet paper, which I understand is very popular (and cheaper for the hotel, since toilet paper is currently more expensive than dollar bills here).

Yea...the U.S. dollar is on a quest to have parity with the Japanese Yen :(. It also sucks to be paid in U.S. dollars :( :(
However, the dollar weakening doesn't mean CCP can raise their rates for the U.S. The market is not dictated on what you think you should be charging because of fairness...it is dictated by what the market will accept. The current charge CCP does for Eve is in line with other MMORPG games here in the U.S. so raising rates will price them out of the market.
CCP probably has to just accept the low U.S. dollar or leave the U.S. market.
As for CCP having parity between Euro and dollar when they set this up...if I was a Euro that would **** me off all to hell. However, it seems to be the norm in business. My company does business in Europe and we charge the same rate in Europe that we do in the U.S. just in Euros...which means European clients are charged 50% more.
