I would like to see ideas on the best 5 man low sec gang.
Judged on basic low sec PVP worthiness: -cost vs benefit -kill ability -gtfo ability -kill while not taking losses etc.
Format: List ships, rough fit, and basic strategy of the team. Then PRO vs. CON your own Comp.
Winner will be judged by peers and gets a MAJOR AWARD!

Please list strat and pro vs con. Here ill do one.
4x Cynabal standard shield kite fit. can fit a long range faction web on 1 or 2 cynas 1x Falcon Strat. Cynabals as tackel and dps, falcon as surprise and loss protection.
Pros- Great gtfo, tackle, kill, and Blue Ball potential Cons- Bit costly, bit low dps.

Edited by: I likegirls on 21/06/2011 19:18:47 1xdevoter 4xdomi
Domi's fit with 2xheavy neut, 2xenergy transfer, 2x large remote rep for highs. 100mn mwd, remote sensor booster, sebo, heavy cap booster. Lows fit with buffer tank and rigs.
Devoter tackles, domis rep everything/and then kill/neut stuff that comes through gate.
Pros: Can kill anything which is heavy and neut the target out even if it is bait. Tanks gate guns. Not very expensive.
Cons: Can't kill really small/fast stuff. Gate guns will kill dominix's drones. Setup is pretty slow.

I like the 3 cyna/rapier/scim tbh, but if you always go with arazu instead of scim, and 720 cynas, or 3 machs, 1 arazu/rapier, pretty much own or run from anyone in these setups, cynas go faster than machs, so if you get blobbed and get like unexpected rapier on your mach, you wont lose as much.
Blackops gangs, you have to be careful, speed is the best :)

I think this is the right approach, but needs some modification. Basilisk Falcon Loki - Huggabond Edition Tengu - Nano HML Gank Edition Tengu - Nano HML Gank Edition
Optional gang boosting alts in order of importance: - Loki - Tengu - Proteus
Here's some comments: - Straight nano gangs just don't work in low sec, because too much combat happens on gates with sentry aggression. - Battleships are slow and don't have a lot of GTFO. - Drone ships (Gila and Ishtar, mostly) are a bit too vulnerable because sentry guns eat your drones. - Basilisk > Scimitar, because it reps WAY better (5 reps vs 3 reps) - Frigates are all but useless in low sec, because their life expectancy is near zero with gate aggression. - Optimal dual clienting will have the gang boosters be scouts and probably run by the Basi and Falcon pilots. Neither the Basi nor Falcon are allowed to dual client in combat itself. - The obvious weak point of the gang is the Basilisk's inability to GTFO, but 2 years of solo logi piloting in low sec tells me this isn't as much of an issue as it sounds like it is.

Basi, Rook, Rook, Cynabal, Cynabal.
Fits are pretty obvious, Basi should probably use shield reps, Rook with Jams, Cyna use some sort of speed mod and tackle.
Strategy: Cynabals grab targets, Rooks jam targets, Basi reps targets. Wait... Basi reps Rooks and Cynabals.
Also, I like the idea of this Warzar =)

That's not cost effective at all!
The obvious answer is 5x Moros with points and webs in the mids.

Someone on Twitter asked for cheaper non-pirate setups: - Basilisk - Falcon - Drake - Naxias Nanodrake Edition - Drake - Naxias Nanodrake Edition - Hurricane - Vagacane Edition
Optional: - Sidegrade Cane to Cyclone - Upgrade Cane to Sleipnir - Upgrade Drakes to NHs

The reason not to field this is because most people will just run from it:
Rook Huggin Arazu Curse Basilisk
We had to stop fielding it because it was impossible to get fights.

Edit: What in the world do you find to kill in your lowsec Recon gangs with 35K EHP ships that rely a heavily on drones bays to provide a remotely respectable amount of DPS? The fact that you mix cloaky and noncloaky ships means you don't even get the OOPS SURPRISE SECKS option on your enemies. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

Edited by: Umega on 23/06/2011 18:46:23 For under 500m you could try..
3x Harbi 1x Oneiros 1x Pilgrim
Armor tank fit for all. Pulse with scorch give good dps projection within 26m optimal (plus link) for roughly 1300 total dps from the harbs.. switch to confl/multi to up that of course when situation dictates, insta-swap ammo. ECCM/Sebo fit the harbs with the open mids. Cloaky ewar ship to melt opposing ecm ships and whatever else need be. blah blah blah..
Something different to try that doesn't put up a ridiculous price tag while still being able to handle multiple situations. ---------------------------------------- Treat the EVE markets like you are its Pimp.. it is your 'willing' employee to fondle n use n abuse as you please. |

For a light gate camp
**Support Optional/Recommended** 1 Cov Ops on the high sec side Cov ops in adjacent systems to watch for blobs and targets POSed t3 ganglink loki/legion Cloaked BR for loot scooping
**Camp** (stage 2k off the gate aligned, create a BM so you are aligned to the gate and also a celestial or 10) 1 Falcon - keep it cloaked unless needed to bail/assist 1 Hic - Phobos works great due to 4 mid slots, sturdy tank - can get 1.2k scan res 3 T3 or CS - Make sure people bring webs/scram
Keep your Falcon cloaked and off mails unless absolutely needed. Most people will try to use an Arazu to suprise tackle you, fit your Falcon to handle this situation and hostile falcons. Try not to post any killmails until after your camp is over. Your biggest key to mitigating losses will be your covert ops players paying attention and the falcon being fit to assist in escape. If you camp for a long enough period of time people will form a counter fleet and come to blob you.
Assign everybody with a responsibility, 1 person that is with the dmg ships is always scanning for probes, cov ops pilots are always scanning for inbound traffic etc etc. Minimize exposure by killing and getting off the gate.

Falcons. Jam everything, cloak, warp away.
Quote: -kill while not taking losses etc.
If you mean absolutely not taking any losses at all, above-mentioned Falcons. If you mean killing as much as possible while still having a decent survivability, 4 supercarriers and a cyno character in a safe system within jump range.
Wait. You expected one setup to be able to do everything? Then EVE might not be the game for you. ---
