Hi, when I open the Eve client, it says Incompatible (Version), how do I apply the Eve Incarna patch, I have been looking all over the website and am now downloading the ENTIRE client again...someone please help me out or give me a link as to where to go to download this! IT may just not be up and ready yet, is that the problem? Is anyone actually logging into the game and playing right now?

Aww, that's alright, I have other things to do. How do you know if someone has gotten a reply to a post, like if I respond to a lot of posts, how do I know if people got the responses? Or do I? Bum bum bum!

"Incompatible (Version)" is what I'm getting too and I'm assuming you're not the only one. Since it's patch day it's going to take a long time till they open up the servers again. Just be patient and wait till they are to download a trustworthy patch I'd say. It will probably take quite a while.

There'll be a green exclamation mark on the topic you posted. "Downtime is now expected to last until 21:30 UTC." from http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1532385

Where are you getting this information about when Incarna 1.0 will be ready? And what is UCT time? How does that compare to my time on the west coast of the USA?

Downtime is now expected to last until 23:30 UTC due to the additional server updates.

10 isk it's extended even longer :)
Guessing patch days are like this. Coming from other MMO's extended down times for patch days is nothing new and "should" be expected. I'd rather they get things right then to open up the servers, only to have them crash, players find things missing etc :)

EVE time = UTC. It is the same for everyone regardless of timezone or time of the year, as local time has confusing daylight savings which isn't honored everywhere. Using UTC avoids confusion.
Under Windows 7 (and usually other operating systems) you can add another clock with EVE time, so you see two clock faces when you click on the time.
When Daylight Savings Time is in effect:
Pacific daylight time (PDT) = UTC - 7 Mountain daylight time (MDT) = UTC - 6 Central daylight time (CDT) = UTC - 5 Eastern daylight time (EDT) = UTC - 4
Otherwise:
Pacific standard time (PST) = UTC - 8 Mountain standard time (MST) = UTC - 7 Central standard time (CST) = UTC - 6 Eastern standard time (EST) = UTC - 5
It is currently 20:40 UTC as I post this.

What a monumental waste of time.
I stayed up until 1:00am with work tomorrow until it finished installing. The splash screen looks great.
If the pile of crap actually allowed me to type in a password I might even be able to try it out!
So after all that waiting, I have a very jerky and unsteady image of a ship firing its gun turrets - AND I CAN'T TYPE MY F###ING PASSWORD
Thankyou CCP and goodnight

lower your graphics settings... new build uses a lot of shaders and special fx on the login screen.

The fix that Mandrake posted allowed me to login and also made the login screen more fluid.
It does work now - at the moment. However it has been suggested that the latest patch to OS X (10.6.7) does not support the Shader 3 which EVE now uses, so if I update my Mac it will no longer work.
Oddly enough though, it has also been suggested that it does work on Lion - which seems strange. Would Apple move forwards (if you call it forwards) by stopping the Shader 3 from working and then make it work again with the new OS?
I haven't been able to get the pre-release copy of Lion to install yet, so I can't test that. Unfortunately, when it is fully released, I have to update the Snow Leopard version first.
Worrying.
