Just do it, I'm done posting. This expansion has so many features I've been waiting for years. Serious.
but 80$ for a vanity item... I stayed with CCO becuase they had vision. I've taken every flame bait and troll on the forum to defend ccp.
but ti's done, it's over. they didn't have the balls to tell us the prices before hand.
join me, cancel your accounts. yeah that's right I have one. But you know what I have? friends that always wanted eve to have walkign and would play it some day once it did. And I told them I would hold them too it.
and now, Nope sorry ccp, but that's 15 accounts you won't even have the chance to have.
It's not that effects my gameplay. It's that I was never a fan of eve, but CCP as a company and for CCps vision. Well consider me betrayed.
Join me, lets just leave. Seriously.
*no one says it's a NGE, it's not and nothing ccp is doing is in any way as bad as that*

Also sad to see you leave 再见 Mothermoon, like you I would love to leave for a bit, but will wait to see if they fix the crap that CQ is atm and hope they bring ship spinning back, not because we want ship spinning, like I had a CCP XXX in help chat laughing at me, butmostly because the ship spinning interface made everythign easier. Still don't know why they can't enable the old station environment for those that dont want to dual monocle their way into eve. ---Archipelago Theory---

Umm wait.. I am lost... how did they betray you? I mean I have expected incarina to be well half done, and in that I don't feel betrayed.. it is how they normally roll... as for the prices. well.. umm you don't have to buy it. Just saying. Maybe they will get the idea and drop the price.. so sorry you can get your monocle.. I personally think it looked stupid anyway.
I still don't see how they betrayed you... I mean you can still play internet space ships right? if you wanted walking around and space... try Star Trek Online.. it is half done, but at least has a cheaper item store.

Just...wow. I'm not the OP, but I have far better things to spend my real life cash on than some virtual item that costs an arm and a leg. Sure, I've got the money to buy a $40.00 in-game shirt, but I could buy a real one for the same price or less. Better yet, I could spend that on 100 rounds of surplus 7.62x51 NATO, take my AR-10 out to the desert, and shoot up some old furniture/cans/fruit/whatever. -Wrayeth --> Insert Useless Signature Here <-- |

I came back to EVE after a 7 month hiatus. Things were going well, when Incarna hit. I don't want to be around to address all the bugs and CQ lag and the possibility of it frying my gfx card. I'm really bummed because my sub runs out in a few days, but I just cant bring myself to re-subbing.
Think I'll take someone's advice posted here and take another break. Maybe skip Incarna altogether and see what the next expansion bring come November or December.

Truth. Hilmar has been completely sucked in by all the garbage being pushed towards his desk.
So isolated by bad information from his employees.
In some respects his "vision" has been part of the problem also. I imagine his mind has been polluted by the pressure from WhiteWolf.

If it's not a mistake, it displays an appalling level of greed on CCP's part, not to mention poor decision-making. A lot of people are fed up with money-grubbing corporations who gouge their consumers and the way they affect society and, as a result, refuse to associate themselves with them. I think they are weirdly priced as well, but i dont get your priorities. You get this upset over virtual items priced to steep???
There are real problems in this world. Nestle or rather all chocolate using companies more or less condone child slavery, etc... Shell and BP are dumping toxic substances all over Africa and **** on people getting sick and dying in the millions. I bet if I went shopping with you for 1 week I could make you wheep telling you stories about the products you consume....
But: Price gauging on vanity items in eve.... does not faze me. I just dont buy. Its a totally minor issue. Especially if the rest of the expansion and game is nice.

I'm not upset; I'm disappointed. As a general rule, I refuse to associate myself with people I believe are morally or ethically corrupt IRL. The same thing goes for businesses: I generally refuse to purchase goods and services from companies that gouge their customers unless I have no choice. There's a difference between reasonable profit and outright greed.

LOL, so true. I almost bought a Mosin last Saturday, but, since I'd just purchased a crapload of ammo for my Armalite AR-10 National Match, I decided I couldn't justify spending any more money on firearms-related stuff right now. Way to ignore the most important part of my post. Put it in context. I bet you are only disassociating yourself from people you perceive as scamming you on a issue dear to you; you cant associate with any corporation if you draw the line at price gauging in general. You can only deal with half the products traded in this world if you draw the line just at murder, slavery, child labor and negligent homicide... New turret animations? My stuff is usually zoomed out anyways. Aurum? Hell yeah, get those prices higher. I'm not buying the **** anyways. Let fail ppl open those fail wallets some more for virtual fail.

You seem to be assuming that I'm omniscient. While flattering, that's far from being the case. As such, I can only act on those things I know about. EDIT: ...and have the capability to do something about. /EDIT Also just because other corporations commit far worse ethical infractions (or crimes, in some instances), that still doesn't make what CCP seems to be doing any less wrong in my eyes. It's almost like you're saying "Because thousands or millions are being killed in the ethnic cleansings in Darfur, you shouldn't care about the kid down the street whose dad beats him every day." -shakes his head-

Its not about being mad. It's about making eve a laughing stock. Halfway year sub, or an eye patch, maybe 4 or less days of work.
It's about not giving the community even a word of this pricing , if you understand economics of buying in bulk and reselling, that's u.
80 bucks per item has the internet losing on every blog and forum I can find. its embrassing To have supported them, defended mircotransactions.

Now YOU must go out and awaken others, a path you have righteously started upon with this thread.

When (if you will forgive me) one of the most forgiving fanbois on the forums, slowly has the screen pulled down through a drip drip of CCP fails, and he felt compelled to post this thread.. Surely that, is the most damming indictment of ccp one can get.

Edited by: Anna Sofia on 22/06/2011 15:55:39 I've cancelled both my accounts. Not really because of the vanity item prices, but because this game is getting worse and worse with every patch (imho).
For me this game has declined ever since CCP first introduced dreadnoughts/cap ships into this game, not to mention warp to zero. The removal of the ship-spinning-carousel is just the last drop.
Why would any sane company want to implement a "walking around alone" function in a game anyways? This is just too dumb to be true.

Seriously, yes the prices are too high. I actually hate the whole aurum store period. We don't need microtransactions in EVE period.
But quitting over it? Thats lulzy.
Meanwhile I'll be enjoying what they added, even if its a bit underwhelming. I understand that this is the first patch of many and I see the possibility opened up now that the new engine for Incarna is complete.

Edited by: Trig Onami on 22/06/2011 16:37:51 At CCP, they can't just reverse a decision that took weeks to come up with, and was tabled at numerous meetings with many different departments in 2 seconds just to please people who don't understand the reasoning behind said feature. They already announced that they're looking into your concerns, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are going to ignore them. You all could at least let them sit at a table and talk about it for a few hours, and see what they come up with, before flying off the handle.
I logged on the game last night, and it was a great experience to be able to see what they had come up with in terms of their vision. I think they're heading in the right direction. I don't think the prices are high considering some people have enough PLEX to buy the entire vanity store's contents 150 times.
Once those people flood the market with said vanity items, their prices may drop, since barely anyone will be buying them with ISK. That's when you come in and swipe it. Why the **** do you want it FIRST? When you can get it later at a cheaper price. CHILLAX, and wait a bit. It will not kill you to wait. I have seen most of you wait for 25 to 40 days for a skill to be learned.. Why can't you exhude the same patience for a measly cosmetic item that only you will see? EVE. Just log into xbox Live if you want to dress up an avatar for 20 bucks. Hell you can score 1/2 dozen outfits for that price. lol
Looks like EvE attempted to steal that model. Unfortunately it does not work because no one else can see your full blown avatar except you. Makes buying and trading dress up items pretty much undesirable if you ask me. lol

IMHO, quitting is perhaps excessive, unless you got screwed with the SM3-only issue.
I'm certainly not spending 1 AUR on the NeX, and I'm quite ****ed off with the poor performance of CQ and the axeing of the old station environment. Makes no sense, immersion-wise, to go straight to CQ whenever you dock.

I don't understand why people are upset about the cost of vanity items you don't need and not the very serious problems with optimization and resource hogging presented by CQ.
Surely there'd be little point in vanity items everyone could afford? Unless there was a vast selection and it was all about finding a unique combination etc.

Things don't happen in a vacuum. Imagine the dev guys sitting there thinking "hell yes 50$ for a monocle sounds about right". Does this not raise any kind of doubts about the future of this game (which after all lies in the hands of those very people) with you? If not then I take it you will love everything that's to come.
The poor performance of the CQ though is something most people have seen coming 50 miles away. That's merely about as underwhelming as anything that we've been accustomed to over the years.

Because MT is a slippery slope that CCP seems to be running towards, decent prices on said items would be seen as at least a compromise for vanity but the cost only implies CCP wants money, lots of it, dedicated players and supporters be damned.
Originally by: Misunderstood Genius Noone of these forums crybabies understand what EVE is: a business.
That is trying to make fools of it's customers. The cost for the items show how little they think of their players and what they expect we should truly be paying. |

That goes with any MMO. I've played all the various major market MMOs, and everytime a patch comes out in ANY of them, the majority of the posts on the forums are always complaints, decrying the patch, saying it will be the end of the game, etc, and it's not.
Though in one case I can remember a patch did destroy a game... An MMO called Star Wars Galaxies released a patch that significantly changed the games combat, and that patch did indeed cause a mass exodus, and in effect, ruin the game. However, 90 percent of the time, patches dont destroy games. People complain and shout, but in the end keep playing..
Especially in Eve..there is literally no other game like it on the market. So if you like Eve, well, your stuck :)

I see rage from a lot of places, which is normal for a major expansion, especially into new areas. Speed Nerf, missile nerf(or fix?), and a host of other changes were game-enders as I recall for many people. Not sure if they ever came back. Don't care. Some were unavoidable as hardware requirments meant people couldn't play on their Commodore 64s. You cannot expect technology to stay in the Stoneage and you'll only be able to play games made within a few years after your computer's hardware. This happens in all games as companies evolve and use new tech to make their games better. EVE has weathered the test of time, so it's only natural that they have forced a few hardware upgrades along the way...such is the nature of the beast and, again, not a CCP problem alone.
And too often people think the 1.0 of any expansion is the end-all, be-all version. It's not. CCP usually rolls out patches in a few days addressing many of the problems that naturally arise. This also happens in all games, and CCP is probably average in their response to these issues with patches. They would score much higher in this regard with me if they would fix things that have been there for several expansions, but that's an argument for another day.
You have to look at this not for what it is now, but the first step toward a vision of a very interesting future. And whining about the prices of *optional* vanity items is very strange. Don't buy them. This was the first roll-out and I'm sure the market will meet demand, which aisde from a few wealthy fashion-freaks is going to be low.
So...my suggestion is: don't quit. Moth-ball and unsub for a while if these changes frighten you, but come back in a few months and see where things are. If you ragequit and biomass and if EVE realizes it's true potentatial, you'll be sorry you have to start again from scratch. "To bring order to chaos, one must bring chaos to its knees."

Does this count as a rage quit?
I spent several hours getting updated, besides waiting all day for the patch to be released.
I then try to log in and guess what... my graphics card is no long supported. I can't even get in the game!
So, I'm reading all this stuff about vanity items and what people are seeing and I get ****ed. I wanted to at least be able to see what the CQ looks like before I decided I hated it.
So, I'm mad that CCP and infinite ignorance has decided that only certain graphics cards will work. Seems weird to me that two days ago I'm flying around in my Obelisk making some good isk and Incrapa comes along and I can no longer enjoy a game that I have played for years. (second time around!).
So, I'm not going to waste my hard earned money to update a computer that works fine for EVERYTHING except for this game. Just doesn't add up. My laptop works fine. Everything I do on it except for this stupid phuqing game works just fine.
So here's my rage quit... if that's what you want to call it.

In the past I have LOLZ over the forum trolls and the tears... loved them tears
This time however, Im with the trolls. I don't think this patch was well executed, what I got was half baked interior and lack luster interface and over priced bling v I lost the ability to run 2 even 3 clients, PvP is not advicable as bonuses and mods dont work propperly... its laggy as ****, and even the "new" fancy guns dont show propperly.
Lets see if CCP can make amends.

I for one will wait for an explanation, that was kind of promised.
If it's a good one, I'll succumb to my addiction. If it's not, I'll quit as well. And this has nothing to do with emo rage quit. As it stands I feed CCP a for my taste substantial amount of money via my monthly fee. This item store sets a dangerous example in my opinion. If VANITY items already come at a good 50 bucks, it might as well be, that my cash is used to develop the idea to put essential items in the store for about the same or even more. And I am not going to support that. That is the easy equation for me. It is not that I could not afford spending RL money ontop of my subscription to buy a pvp ship for example. It is just that I do not want to. Eve is worth the 15 Euros I pay every month. Not more.

Take a step back Mother.
I'm right there with you in most respects. The prices in the Noble Exchange caught me quite by surprise as well.
I too thought that this would be an entertaining addition to EVE and talked about it favorably.
I too defended CCP, assuring people that this would be a reasonably priced extra. Not a money grab.
The people in this thread that are saying "if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it" are correct. This is not an issue to quit the game over. However it is an issue worth raising a stink about.
I find it insulting that I am being asked to pay $20 for a virtual shirt if I want to enjoy this addition to EVE.
I find it incredible that I am being asked to pay $70 for a monocle. A MONOCLE!
I find it completely embarrasing that CCP is charging OVER 10X as much as its competitors do for a similar service, and that we are rapidly becoming a laughing stock in the gaming community because of it.
I took a certain amount of pride in the incredible accomplishments CCP has achieved with their game, and I appreciated the vision that drove those accomplishments. So it is with a certain amount of shock that I saw such an incredibly poorly thought out pricing scheme put into play.
I'm not going to stop playing, far from it. But I'm certainly not going to shut up about this incredibly poorly thought out decision until it is corrected.
CCP can take all the risks they like and I'll back them all the way, but I draw the line at publicly embarrasing themselves and their community along with it. ===== The world will not end in 2012, however there will be a serious nerf to Planetary Interaction. |

I guess I'd complain about those vanity items prices cos it seems like a missed opportunity; make them a reasonable price and you would get a lot more sales; I dread to think what all the ship ones will cost, so they'll only get used for gaying about in empire.I'd have bought the odd fun thing now and again, but not at those prices, so it's a missed opportunity I think. And with the make up of EVE players, anyone seen with one of those monacles is gonna get laughed at so much, why wOuld anyone of us buy it?
Incarna is just an expansion that has no content for proper eve players (pvpers) and that makes it three in a row: incarna, incursion and tyrannis.

The thing that cracks me up about the vanity items for sale is that nobody except you is going to be able to even see those items for a long time, possibly years down the road when we can finally interact with each other in stations. There's no reason at all to buy any of this crap until Incarna is fully realized.
I love you guys who are making your stand now though. The entire concept of selling stuff in game for real money (technically) is utter rubbish and should never have seen the light of day in this game.

This patch is more than vanity. CCP seems to have single handily completely turned off all bonuses with rigs, mods, implants, etc. Hell they made several people's pirate implants go POOF without fixing it. This patch is a pile of skftur and seems to be a nice example of what CCP has become.

HEY OUR GAME HAS A NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT LEARNING CURVE BUT BEFORE YOU EVEN BEGIN, GOOD LUCK NAVIGATING THE CAPTAINS QUARTERS AT 0.5 FPS.
I would immediately quit and never return.
So then the 50k+ pilots currently in game is a sign that peoples comps can't run the game? Maybe some of you should you know - upgrade. 2004 is that away >>>>>

Am considering unsubbing too. Anyone that loves Incarna is a fool who doesnt realise that this is the first step in ruining the game. Yes it might look alright, and its something "new" to eve. But is it really something that eve needs? As a game about spaceships?
How bout more ships, more mods, Jove space? or you guys just wanna walk down to the local space-pub and buy yourselves an e-beer?

I would not mind paying for an expansion and being able to demand quality, ships, more interesting gameplay battles.
I¦d pay 30 bucks for an EVE expansion that would add 2000 missions and low orbit planetary combat.

Why do morons continue to bloat out crap like this?
CCP is by far the most expensive MMO out there, even including any expansions you might add to a premium game. The fact you can only have 3 char's pr. account, so you need more account than in any other game even increase how much real life money the EVE custumer pays each month.
But, that's not enough - now the MT is here, and we have to pay an insane subscribtion fee AND a stellar price for any of the MT items AS WELL.
By the way - if we should pay for the "expansions" we could maybe NOT buy them - you know, in all other games, those expansions are OPTIONAL - a word CCP might want to learn about the last 3 CRAP updates.
I have 2 days left of my last account, i have had 6 months breaks before, but i dont think i want to bother returning this time.
CCP, get a %#"%ñ#"%"%"%ñ"#%"#ñ clue.

I'm not re-subbing until CCP changes their attitude towards their customers. My account expires in a few days, and no you can not have my stuff, i'm keeping it in case CCP change their minds.
The reason... They replaced a critical piece of the game with an unfinished and unpolished feature that is so heavy, its actually damaging peoples computers. In order to promote their new RMT scheme, the feature was made mandatory. Which from a development & design perspective is completely crazy.
Then it turns out this new cash shop sells items which are 28 times more expensive then the infamous HORSE ARMOR from oblivion. But at least the horse armour actually added hitpoints to your horse. All the monocle does is show the rest of EVE what an idiot you are for buying a virtual piece of eyeware that you do not even legally own, and have paid an outrageous amount of money for to obtain it.
All the while CCP has released no response about any of these issues players to their community that can be called constructive. Of the few responses I have seen from DEV's most are trolling or joking reactions COMPLETELY IGNORING THE ISSUES! --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

To be honest, I am seriously thinking about unsubscribing unless CCP fixes the prices ASAP.
I've been playing since 2004, and although I only have two accounts, I consider myself a loyal customer. I have always presumed the best out of CCP and have always defended them.
CCP is quickly running out of second chances for me - I'm so disgusted with these prices that I can't even bring myself to log in and play the game like I used to before this expansion.
Fix the prices, CCP, and fix them FAST. ----------

if you are cancelling because of vanity item prices, then you are a ******. if you are cancelling because of the implications of ccp's micro-transactions (ishukone scorpion???), coupled with the internal document release, then i can definitely understand. if you people think paying for more ship fittings, or gold ammo is a good thing, then good for you, for you're an idiot.

I still don't see how they betrayed you... I mean you can still play internet space ships right? if you wanted walking around and space... try Star Trek Online.. it is half done, but at least has a cheaper item store.
Doesn't this make you feel you're settling for less than they can deliver? Do I want to pay for in-station stuff to be developed? no Do I want to pay for prettier pictures? no Do I want to join a super-big-alliance just so I can participate in the proper 0.0 business? no. Do I want to engage in blob warfare? no Do I want to lose days and days of playtime because they can't provide me with a download/installation that works?
If I continue to pay CCP, the game is just going to move further and further away from what I want, so what's the point? Perhaps if I STOP paying them, they'll change direction. My only chance of getting eve to be how I want it is to not pay them for this update and their future plans.

Hi MM. If it is any comfort then CCP shared your vision too:
Originally by: CCP newsletter, p. 9 Second, we must sell our units of virtual currency û the AUR û at appropriate rates. No pair of pants, no matter how cool, should cost the same as a new Maserati; similarly, it would be silly to buy sunglasses for my avatar and pay the same price that I would for a faction battleship.
They apparently changed vision, but why? Maybe because they did not like the thought of what low prices on virtual goods potentially could lead to; driving up the price of PLEX to unpredictable heights. Just think about the massive amount of whines from people who no longer would be able to afford their accounts through PLEX. The high price is further somewhat justifiable by the fact that the cloth is indestructible when worn; meaning that after it has been bought it will likely never leave the game. By starting with overpricing the items they can slowly adjust and watch the effect until a "sweet spot" is reached, so perhaps they will end up fulfilling their original vision after all.
I joined you yesterday in your worries yesterday but after having slept and rethought the subject I am starting to better understand CCPs reasoning (I hopeà).

Yeppers, count me among those who have been upgraded right out of the game- one of my computers won't run EVE at all, and the one I'm using to type this, my 'main' computer, is a lagfest running just one client, much less trying to run all my toons. Add to that the laundry list, compiled elsewhere in these forums, of unbalancing tweaks that need addressed yet have been ignored for multiple releases now...
I have gathered all the nearby assets of all my toons into my hangar, in the outpost I just helped drop in nulsec. I hope someday that this game may return to some semblance of balance, but I have some friends who used to play SWG, and I see this game making the same kind of mistakes that killed that MMO. I don't expect to ever see the inside of that outpost again.
Say goodbye to 4 accounts, CCP. I am a DDO player now :)
Peace out!
