CPUID Hardware Monitor Results
CPUID HWMonitor results gathered from a full run of TQ including entering station on login, undocking, mining, rats shooting at ship in belt, warping, docking, and use of various CQ features, and finally quitting TQ and running for a minute or so.
Settings used: Full-screen; 1920x1080 Resolution; All settings on High except for Low AA; All CQ settings enabled, and Character Creator settings enabled and on high.
edit: amusing typo, plus CQ running at 60 FPS, Application Controlled.

CPU is hitting 100% as usual with new stuff. max temp is hitting 72 C VGA is fine, hitting 55 C
CQ is running pretty good with high graphics. EVE is somehow prettier now, running fine.
You do realize max temp per intel on this CPU is 72.4C? That number looked high for that series of CPU so I had to look it up. Running it for long periods at that temp is going to kill it.
In my opinion Intel CPUs are pretty good about cutting themselves off before complete failure (Lifespan will be GREATLY reduced however)
I am FAR FAR more worried about the MOSFETS and Northbridge. If they arent being cooled many will go right to the edge before failure. Some even reaching temps approaching fire hazard. That is why you CLEAN YOUR PC!
I am not kidding I have been burned by an overheating MOSFET.

What kind of flicker? Is it any particular source of lighting, such as character lighting, or is it every light in CQ? (like a power flicker in your home)

I use one desktop at home and use a laptop at work.
Desktop spec is ...
CPU : I7-2600k GPU : GTX 460 RAM : 8GM OS : Windows 7 pro
FPS 40 ~ 60 in CQ. All smooth. Nothing negative to report.
Laptop spec is ...
CPU : i5-540m GPU : HD 5650m RAM : 4GB
FPS : 20 ~ 40 in CQ. Smooth enough, nothing really negative to report.
Overall, I have no problem with CQ and chose to load the CQ on dock. Docking/undocking time is pretty much the same as before, give or take few seconds.

Sort of like every lightbulb flickers at a different time but constantly... I thought it may have been a heat issue but everything is running cool :/ Tried undoing overclocks and it didnt work

I didn't bother checking FPS, but it runs 'smooth enough'. On all low settings, except interior effects at medium, it's definitely not 60 FPS; At the same time their is no jerkiness or freezes, just that everything feels a bit sluggish. The problem though, is that withought CQ my CPU is utilized at about 40-50%. Enabling CQ spikes utilization up to about 90%.

Edited by: Syn Fatelyng on 22/06/2011 06:14:06 The game does seem to be running hotter for most people, and I would assume it is because we're simply used to low-polygon models in station (and in space, due to the low number of models on average). I know, for a fact, that my GPU never hit 100% usage levels in EVE before due to the game being more dependent on CPU speeds.
With CQ being a GPU-specific addition, it makes sense that people are actually able to see what happens with their computers when their hardware is put to full use.
edit: Clarification for people reading - You never quite know how dusty or damaged your computer is until you use the hardware to the fullest.

Ok, this is kind of interesting.
With 2 clients running, one in station, no CQ, fps = 60
So I set all 4 clients to CQ = on and started all at the same time, my normal procedure, which usually took about 2 minutes with Incursion.
It took 28 minutes for the last client to finish loading and FPS = 11.
Edit: Correction. The load time is wrong and i don't want to do it again to find out the real number.

Oh.. my. Considering I'm only one small upgrade from yours (5870), I'm curious if it is indeed the card itself or perhaps a driver issue.
What version of Catalyst are you running?

Despite me having a lower-end rig with a higher end card, the Station runs smooth as silk. 40+ fps with everything but AA at max. (It's on low.) After all the fuss on the forums I was expecting a crisis rig was needed to run it at max. Seems it was all a bunch of crap. Or they improved the code 500% since the launch.
Granted as I understand it I'm missing some feature/effects due to having an ATI card. But if I get wonderful fps without em, CCP can keep the the damn effects.

By the way, that's not a issue with your card, you in fact have the best card of anyone here, you are able to use the advanced lighting effects that most of us can't. This lets you see the minmitar's electrical, structural, and lighting skills in all their glory.

With graphics settings on low/off, except the 3 "xxxxx quality" settings at high, I got 4fps. With those settings shifted to low, it zooomed up to 8-10fps. Getting 30fps now CQ is off and get a pretty steady 30fps in space.

Hm, CQ doesn't seem to have such impressing graphics but still spins up cooler on my GTX470 while in rest of eve on max settings it runs quietly. The only game I got so far that causes same spin-up is Witcher 2 on max settings, and only in some areas, so to me it looks like CQ is graphically taxing with no obvious reason.

CQ runs. Once I'd turned all the graphics off it ran pretty good. Looked like shiat though, clicking on the sofa had an appriciable lag before the options appeared regardless though.
As I said in another thread, Mass Effect 2 both runs and looks better than this.

CQ runs stable on one client with no graphical artifacts at 45-55 FPS with maxed settings.
CPU usage: Both cores 75-85% EVE responsible for about 64% of it CPU temps: Core 1 45-50 deg; Core 2 65-69 deg GPU temp: Steady 70-75 deg (used to this with the 260-216 black, it always runs a bit hot) RAM usage: Slightly over 1 gig used for the EVE client RAM temp: 36 deg
I am currently looking in to the anomalous CPU Core 2 temp. I am begging to suspect a bad temp sensor or problem with my temp monitoring program. Even right at boot up and under no load, Core 2 shows about 30% higher temps than Core 1.
I can not wait to get my new system built though, this one is starting to show its age.
Edit: To include display resolution.

first off, its a laptop, and has always ran eve on max settings of 20+ fps in and out of station.
AMD turion dual core 2.1ghz. 3gb of ram win 7 64bit ATI 3200mobility graphics
in CQ now i get max 10fps when sitting still for a while on 1 client using the lowest settings. this is ridiculous. yea i understand my laptop is outdated and blah blah blah, but if i can be in fleet fights and such with decent fps why cant i DOCK.

At the in-laws now, so all i have access to is my old rig (passed it on to them when i upgraded) luckily, eve was still installed, so i patched it and gave it a go.
Specs: AMD Athlon 7850 black (2.8ghz) 2 gigs of ram Radeon HD 3850 256MB VRam Windows XP Pro, drivers were up to date as of ~1 year ago. probably still running the same driver set.
CPU useage with CQ @ jita 4-4 never jumped over 55% GPU useage ranged from 40-90%, temps climbing to around 72c before stabilizing
Settings started out full low. then gradually worked my way up. very noticable stuttering @ full high, finally locked up the game. Not unexpected given the hardware config, but did much better than i expected.
for reference, this system used to run 4 clients at once before really getting taxed. i would NOT attempt running multiple clients with the above config.

In space I get about 55-60 FPS. In CQ, about 20-25 on average. Quite a drop, but little actually perceivable difference to my eyes. CPU load seems intensive; on idle my core temp was mid to high 30s and shot up about 20 degrees to mid 50s, sometimes spiking to mid 60s from time to time.
