Before incarna: lowest graohics: about 60 fps in station (with environment loaded) about 30-40 fps outside
After incarna: lowest graphics: about 4-6 fps in station (WITHOUT station environment) captains-quarters crash my game about 2-4 fps outside
unplayable
Whatever CCP did to "improve" the code, they sacrificed alot of performance for it. Long lives modern programming
I've had similar numbers when using windows. All framerates dropped, but the game is still playable with highest graphics at least. And of course super-playable with lowest. --------------------------------------------------

this might be related that u have an ATI graphics card?
I run ubuntu 11.04 64-bit, quad core cpu (intel q6600 i think), 4 GB RAM, wine 1.3.22 and a nvidia GeForce 8600 GT on an asus p5q pro mobo.
I can run the game and even load CQ, but have graphics ****ches (like wiered snow effect). I can also run multiple clients. But i have disabled loading station environment.
I know that the nvidia drivers are....poor...to stay polite.
Hoping that there will be beter drivers soon.
cheers

Bruce, you think Nvidia drivers are crappy? You should be happy you haven't seen ATI's...
I've got Radeon HD 5600 and after latest patch it's unplayable for me too..

I've got a Q6600,. 4GB Ram & 8800 GT. And I can run two clients smoothly in space, FPS is lowered some. I've still got to relaunch my X-session to see if I've got too much eating up resources in the background.
It's easy to get accustomed to having 3 chars on at all times. But with two in space and one in CQ it's quite ok. I did have two in CQ simultaneously but that slowed my comp down a wee bit too much.
I have still got to try this in windows at some point.

I have started eve with WINEDEBUG=d3dx9,d3d_shader to see if I can see where the big fps drop is (if it's an error or something like that.)
I did not find anything interesting by reading the log. I have linked them in case someone else want to see them.

running fglrx 11.6, wine 1.3.23 on x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ with a HD4670 for the time being.
tested various settings to no effect. tested various fglrx and wine combinations to no effect.
since nothing brought my fps above meager 10% of pre-Incarna levels and also many windows users are complaining about a sharp drop in gfx performance l can only assume that there is only one bug, and this is Incarna itself.
hope there will be a work-around in wine soon.

CCP CSM special summit
quote out of CSM statement:
...
"Captain's Quarters: We discussed the hardware and lighting issues within the CQ and we were satisfied that they were being addressed. We were pleased when Torfi announced that the current "Disabled Incarna Door" will be replaced with an environment that will provide similar functionality and performance to the pre-Incarna Hangar, and this environment will be available until Incarna performance is similar to pre-Incarna performance. While the final details and timelines have not been worked out, ships will once again spin all over New Eden."
...

good to read. odd thing is, that fps are sometimes significantly higher on my setup, mostly when changing settings and/or undocking. they can peak at 50% of pre-Incarna levels, which is bliss compared to regular 10%. also load and temperature are at former levels then. this effect is gone with any relog though. if there would be any means to keep it that way via patch or settings it would be just great.

should have clarified that the second part refers to in space performance as well. sorry, my bad. so sometimes when l undock the fps go way up. usually l do not use CQ at all, tested it in this case though. and once fps are up in space, they are way higher in CQ as well. other posts in the Incarna feedback thread indicated a lighting problem. so my estimate was that any fix by CCP would also affect in space fps significantly.
in any case there seems to be a short term solution as l had hoped, amd open source drivers way to go. will give it a try :)
